So where do walkers walk ?
I have been spying on you all with my drone, and I see you-have no sidewalks in your neighborhoods. I am a big walker. Me and my non pooping dogs. And now I read you have a few golf carts that are weaponized . If I take a clip from a cart for walking in the wrong place with my bones I will crack like a egg. What area is good for the walker. 2-5 miles a day.

Depends where you live!

Some places do have sidewalks. But wherever you choose to walk PLEASE walk FACING traffic ! There is nothing more dangerous than walking in the same direction as the traffic be it cars, bikes and carts. You need to see and hear who is about to hit you so you can take action.

A "non pooping dog"??? I want one

We take cart to Sumpter Landing and do an hour walk around the area. Scenery always nice, and you see plenty of people, situations and then have coffee at Panera. :coolsmiley:

Canal St.
Canal Street is great / safe walking area.
2 1/2 miles from gate at Stillwater to near gate at 466A - all sidewalks, traffic lights at major crossings. From Canal Street Rec Center: 5+ mile loop 5 3/4 miles Sidewalk and Multi-modal path(no tunnel) So. On Canal, Left onto Odell, Right onto MM Path south on Morse Right onto Odell at Havana. Right onto Canal, north back to Canal St. Rec Center. 3+ mile loop 3 1/3 miles Sidewalk and Multi-modal path(no tunnel) So. On Canal, Left onto Odell, Right onto MM Path south on Morse Right onto Bonita Blvd. Right onto Canal, north back to Canal St. Rec Center. If you want some elevation, Baisley Trail and Bramble Terr in Bonita have several hills off of them - moderate climbs. Enjoy _ |

I know you can walk on the cart trails but there are many many better and safer places to walk in TV IMHO. Panera (both) have outside tables to eat and drink.

Just outside of TV to the south is okahumpka trail. Check that out with your drone. It's very pretty, has measured walking trails, and your non pooping dogs are welcome. actually, even my pooping dog is welcome. But you have to drive there. Otherwise we walk on sidewalk streets and non-sidewalk neighborhood streets with no problem at all. I like to keep off the busier streets, even with sidewalks, because the traffic makes our dog a bit jittery. But he's fine on Tamarind Grove, which doesn't have as much traffic as St. Charles and BV. |
Bonita Loop 2 tunnels
Sea Breeze to Bonita. Through the tunnel to Bonita and east past the fire station. Continue up Mount Bonita to Morse. South on Morse to Havanna. West back to Sea Breeze Bonify Loop 6 tunnels Sea Breeze south to 466a east on the cart path to Colony cart path to Havanna Havanna back to Sea Breeze. Odell Bailey Trail loop Sea Breeze to Lake Miona (I short that tunnel) to Mallory to Havanna to Sea Breeze. I have done them all and some on an almost daily basis and I have never had any problem with the tunnels but common sense says don't even try the Lake Miona tunnel. VG |

A walker that is minding his/her own business walking with back to traffic or on the right side of pathway but with head phones on and head in the clouds. Distracted cart driver runs over the non-attentive walker and kills the walker dead. I would rather go the extra mile to protect myself than I would want to walk where and how I wanted, but be in the morgue. Laws are guidelines that some of us break on purpose and that some of us just make a mistake and do not follow. I vote for not getting too deep into I GOTS ME RIGHTS. |

Good info. I will google earth it. :bigbow: |
I have daily walked 2-3 miles for most of my adult life.....and still do @3-4 miles per hour....with the dog.
Almost exclusively multi modal paths(MMP) from Arnold Palmer CC heading South and then back. All users, better than 90% show respect for each other space, right of way. Better than 98% of the time is without incident. Better than 70% of all who use the MMP say god morning/wave/nod/smile. What usually happens is that too many threads dwell on the odd ball 2% that create problems.....no matter where they are or what they are riding/driving. As many suggestions above advocate there are some areas that might be more conducive to walking......my experience is it is safe to walk just about any where using common sense and courtesy. And remember there will always be the 2% oddballs where ever on goes. btk |

Doggie Doo Run Run is near the intersection of CR101 and CR104 about 1 mile north of Southern Trace Shopping Center. Belvedere becomes CR101 north of CR466. They charge $25 monthly or $3 per day. Believe it is $30 month for two dogs or $5 per day. Not sure about what 3 dogs is though. Very nice people manage and own it and most of the customers are also very friendly but you do have to look out for the occasional first or second time visitor who doen't know their dog or just does not care about its behavior. |

You can walk anywhere you want to....There is no walking police ....There are neighborhoods with walking trails.....My wife is a big walker and we live in Caroline so she walks up to Sumter to get her starbucks and walks the walking trail there then back...She has never had a problem with any grumps or anything else...99.9 % of the people will say good morning or wave as they pass you....Also there are several walking clubs here you might want to check out...

It has been my experience after living here for over 6 years that people are pretty accomodating. Usually any comments regarding walkers, bikes, etc express concern, and cautionary warnings and not hate dislike etc.

I am pretty sure there is one from Laurel Manor, maybe on Saturdays. Call there , they can tell you. Then UFS Health Sysytems started two that go from Spanish Springs, don't remember which days or times. Call USF office in The Villages, they'll tell you.

I am not a resident, I hope to be. My parents have lived there for several years and we visit almost every year. We love TV. We love to walk and because we don't live there we don't know the "rules" written or otherwise. That being said, whenever we walked we never had anybody say anything or any close calls or anything.
To me it seems like there is a minority that has a problem with this "problem", real or otherwise, and makes it seem like TV is nothing but a bunch of whiners. My experience is they are not, just a few. There is always that group that spend their whole life making sure others live their life the way they think it should be lived. I have walked with and against traffic my whole life and I am still alive to write this email. Question, which way should I walk on a one way street? |

Keep in mind that we don't try to go against the rules, however if we did break a rule we did not know it and we where not scolded for it if we did. Keep in mind we have never brought our dog yet so that has kept us out of the the most trouble!! |
