New Dance Craze sweeping the Villages
Hey all you singles and marrieds....
There's a new dance craze sweeping the villages, its called the Carolina Shag Dance. Some of you easterners probably know this dance, its similar to the West Coast Swing. We're having lots of dance parties around the villages where singles can meet, along with any married couples that want to dance. The Carolina Shag dance club is holding dances on Thursday nights from 6 to 9 at the Bradenton Rec Center, near Bonifay CC. We had a fabulous time last Thurs and want to invite more to come so we can dance the night away. This is a weekly dance, open to all Village residents and their guests with a Village guest pass and proper ID. You can dance the Shag, swing, bop, freestyle, etc. to Beach, R&B, Motown music. DJ is Pat Atkinson. Admission is $3.00 for the DJ. BYOB and snack for your table. Hope you can join us... |
I saw a video awhile ago that showed the junior national competition and it was amazing. Are there any classes that teach it?

HEY, I like to shag. LOL! I've done that before, it just takes a minute to get the hang of if you are an east/west coaster!
Can't wait to move to TV April 1. Kitty Quote:

Sounds like so much fun! I would have a good time enjoying the music and watching these styles of dance even if I wasn't dancing at the time!
|
that sounds like my kind of evening!
|
Cha x 3 so are you planning to come on Thursday? I'm probably getting 2 tables as I think we will have a great turnout of our friends.
|
yes
yes and my friend Nina will be coming with me...

Great turnout last night at the Carolina Shag Dance Club. This is going to become a really hot place to meet and greet. We could use a few more singles but the turnout was fantastic. The DJ is excellent and really knows his Beach music. Also learned a "Beach Line Dance" which I have yet to master.
This is a weekly event at Bradenton Rec Center. Starts at 6 to 9pm, bring snacks and drinks. $3.00 entry fee for DJ. |

So glad to hear that it was a success; but I knew with good music, dancing and a great DJ, Patrick, that it would be. Can't wait for when I return in April to add Thursday night at Bradenton R.C. as one of my dance nights. Is it totally shag or are other dances performed as well? Take care, my good buddy. |

As usual, you can do any dance you want - west coast, east coast or regular swing dances, we even did a chacha but the majority of people are really die-hard Shag dancers and they do the shag to any song Hurry back... I miss you!! |
My brother has been in the shag circuit for years traveling all over the south He and his wife just love shag dancing.
