Law Enforcement Vehicles On Buena Vista Sunday Morning
On Sunday morning, approx 11 am, we were heading south on Buena Vista when we came upon several law enforcement vehicles stopped facing north, lights flashing, on the bypass stretch between Winifred & Arnold Palmer course. All of the cars were empty but as we passed by the cart path that leads into the residental area just north of the golf course we could see quite a few officers walking in the streets. We traveled back thru that area about an hour later and all but one of the vehicles were gone. The one that remained was an unmarked car and it was parked on the grass along side the golf cart path near the entrance of that same residental area. Anyone have any info on this? Unless I missed it, there wasn't anything in the paper.

Only arrests make the paper, they quote the police blog. Anyone else see the police walking around...What village would that be? |
I did see a blue or silver unmarked car parked on or next to the golf cart path just past Arnold Palmer. I was in my car. (Yes, on the road)

Be aware that there were two police officers/cars on Buena Vista yesterday just north of the polo grounds with their speed gun working overtime. Thanks to the guy who was flashing his lights alerting us to the trap. Saved me a chunk of change and some points:D

I wish you both were ticketed. Maybe that would slow you down. |
Agree with the previous poster. A speed trap is when there is an unexpected speed drop, like going around a corner and the speed drops and you have no time to slow down. Driving the speed limit at all times and you will avoid any unexpected tickets and never have to worry about radar.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Flashing your headlights to alert oncoming drivers that police are lurking on the roadside ahead will no longer be against the law in Florida. A provision legalizing such speed trap warnings is part of a wide-ranging motor vehicle law going into effect Tuesday. A lawyer who has represented ticketed motorists, though, says it still has loopholes police could use to pull over headlight-blinking drivers. Bad move if you ask me. Maybe if law bidding citizens flashed their lights all the time or randomly people would slow down. |

I don't believe there's anything wrong with the light flashing...
The police should be out there to improve safety and to get folks to slow down a bit. Giving speeding tickets should NOT be the objective. If someone flashes their lights and others slowdown; mission accomplished. So, for those of you complaining about the light flashing, maybe you should just drive around flashing your lights all the time and you will slow traffic... Happy Motoring . . . |

Don't speed and you have nothing to worry about except being passed and cut off by idiot drivers. |

All this complaining about the "idiots" and "stupid" people gets a bit tiresome. Just saying... |
some will attempt to indicate that the speeders are all the contractors and the "younger" folks who do not live in TV. Yes there are a number of them. However they are far outnumbered by those obviously old enough to be residents. After almost 9 years of watchinf TV more than double in size there is no doubt it is the residents who are the violators of speed limits and road hogging, etc.
It remains a mystery where these folks have to be in such a hurry. As I have posted many times before, there should be enough enforcement and ticket writing for TV to attain the reputation for a "speed trap" location. We all know or have been to those areas where we have been told or we did the telling....you better watch your speed in there or you will get a ticket. The more ticketing the better for everybody....and it helps the appropriate county coffers as well. I wish FL was a citizen's arrest state so we could turn in license plates of offenders. And yes be a witness if need be in traffic court. It does work.....but not as effectively as dedicated cops. Deicated to ticketing every single violator they can during their shift. And yes by all means flash your lights to help slow these in a hurry to go no where residents. There, I feel all better again!!:ho: btk |

Boys you guys are sure hard on people who think the only reason to drive slower is in case they might get a ticket. Of course, I agree with you completely.
Despite all the questions I raise, and my refusal to treat the developer as some sort of deity, there was really only one solid negative thing we observed there. The majority of drivers, both car and cart, seemed to be driving just about as fast as they possibly could. Every post on TOTV has someone point out we're retired and should just relax. So, I don't know why people are in such a hurry. And as many have said, it is dangerous. OK, my theory: Many of you are from large cities in the northeast. Perhaps you never been anywhere that didn't have bumper to bumper gridlock. And you're just trying to close up the space in front of you while you can. :duck: |

Glad I started a thread that I had hoped could be answered but instead it went waaaay off the beaten path. Go figure

Thanks to those who stayed on the subject of the original post. The incident that I was referring to would have been in the Village of Winifred and I"m pretty sure it was the south end of Kingston Way where we saw a group of officers walking.
