Too Jay's coming to Brownwood

According to today's Leesburg Daily Commercial and The Villages Gourmet Club web site construction will start soon, in Brownwood, for The Villages 3rd Too Jay's restaurant.

DandyGirl 02-18-2013 10:27 AM

Boo! I don't care for Toojays. We need a Bob Evans or some other great breakfast place.

2BNTV 02-18-2013 10:30 AM

One vote for loving Toojays.

gocubsgo 02-18-2013 10:40 AM

I hope this doesn't turn into another cookie cutter square where it's the same restaurants and stores as the other 2.

Agreed, not a big fan of Too Jays either.

TicoTexan 02-18-2013 10:46 AM

Brownwood should not be a clone of LSL. I like Cody's but don't need another one in Brownwood. Same with City Fire.

Glad to see Gator's Dockside and Five Guys in BW. More choices and especially competition would be good for all of us.

Thnonne 02-18-2013 10:53 AM

Diversity at BW

I agree with the need for different breakfast places south of 466. There is nothing at Colony except for McDonalds for breakfast. There are lots of possiblilities, Perkins, IHop, Bob Evans, Cracker Barrel or Dunkin Donuts, Burger King depending on your taste in breakfast food.

graciegirl 02-18-2013 10:54 AM

I love Toojays. Comfort food and not expensive.

I may be just too easy to please.

My read is that successful and well run eateries will expand here because they know how to stay afloat and please this population.

Perhaps those who have more refined restaurant needs are in the minority. That has been suggested. Another thing too for many of the folks who are three month residents, they have a more "vacation" feel and for the year 'rounders...we like tried and true and not too expensive as many dine out very frequently.

Just a thought. Half brisket sandwich and cabbage vegetable soup. Yum.

Go Toojays!

Agreed! We haven't been to TooJays but a few times, and I have to say that I was very happy with the breakfast I had there. On the other hand, I do have to say that my favorite place is Gracie's Bistro just off 466! :clap2:

Scoops 02-18-2013 11:26 AM

I am happy about TooJay's coming to Brownwood but I also agree the we need a breakfast place in Colony. PLEASE! Perkins or IHOP would be great.

shcisamax 02-18-2013 11:35 AM

Maybe if there is another one in Brownwood...which I would definitely go to because I really like the food...you won't have to wait in a line for 15 or 20 minutes and then wait for another 20 minutes for your food. That is one restaurant that I would be happy for them to build another.

I believe the Subway in Colony has breakfast sandwiches.

In the words of Yogi Berra, " Nobody goes to Toojays anymore. The lines and wait are too long"

Now that's funny.

I like Too Jays. I can get to either Spanish Springs or Lake Sumter Landing with ease but Brownwood is not on my radar yet. I think they will do well there.

BTW, Gracie, their brisket sandwich is one of my favorites too. They are not stingy with the brisket.

buggyone 02-18-2013 12:58 PM

I really like the chopped liver on rye sandwich at TooJays.

I don't doubt for a moment that Too Jays, which has been very successful in TV, will also be coming to Brownwood. However, there's really only one source for this information--The Villages Gourmet Club. The Leesburg Daily Commercial cites the Villages Gourmet Club as their only source. It looks like World of Beer and Too Jays will both be on West Torch Lake Dr. I thought it was somewhat unusual that the LDC did not mention that Five Guys was also coming to Brownwood in this article.

Daily Commercial -
New restaurants, shop come to Brownwood

travelguy 02-18-2013 06:15 PM

Matzoh Ball Soup and chopped liver on challah......OMG.....it is delicious!

justjim 02-18-2013 06:34 PM

We like Bob Evans for breakfast and too Jays for lunch. Plenty of room for both of them on the south side!

rubicon 02-18-2013 06:45 PM

Too Jay's seems to receive more positive reviews than negative. So I hope it is not over-extending itself. i glad for the people who live closer to Brownwood and I am glad for the people who live closer to LSL because we need to thin out the crowds

Didiwinbob 02-18-2013 07:34 PM

One small request. I love to read news on the Internet when I am eating alone. Too Jays has NO signal strength at the LSL location. As businesses are being built please have web access for those of us that enjoy connecting outside the bubble

I luv too jays too but I think 2 of them are plenty and would rather see more variety.

TednRobin 02-18-2013 08:04 PM

While I love TooJays, don't know if I need a third one. Wouldn't a little Mom an Pop restaurant that served real home cooked meals(including breakfast) be great? JMHO.

marianne237 02-18-2013 08:26 PM

I like Two Jays also, but would love to see a fish restaurant ala Captain D, etc. And wouldn't a Boston Market be nice for a change? My favorite breakfast place though, is Aunt Fannie's in Belleview...a little run down, but good food.

PaPaLarry 02-19-2013 06:03 AM

Too Jays must be doing something right?? Every year when they have The Villages survey, they seem to be in the top 3!!!!!!

jbdlfan 02-19-2013 02:03 PM

Mom and Pop places can't afford to be on or near a square, especially LSL or BW. Rent is VERY high and they(TV) want a good part of the sales. It takes a franchise type operation to pay the bills once summer comes. Summer months can be pretty brutal to some of these businesses.

I disagree, I can get to Brownwood in a short (kind of) cart ride. LSL is a long ride by cart and I didn't move here to drive my car everywhere I go

jblum315 02-19-2013 02:07 PM

I love TooJay's. Only thing I don't love about it is the long wait for a table, especially this time of year.

Cracker Barrel likes to build along main hwys for traffic reason. I don't see 466a being a big enough draw and they have one in Lady Lake and Leesburg and off 1-75 north of wildwood. Probably met there quota for sq. miles there. But you never know....
Would like to see a bob evans or perkins...down in the colony shopping area. Really tired of fast food choices only. I think either would be a good fit in the shopping area.

batman911 02-19-2013 03:31 PM

Denny's?

Thnonne 02-19-2013 07:38 PM

First Watch

I forgot to mention First Watch, one of the best breakfast spots I have been to, they would be a great addition to the area south of 466 possibly at Brownwood.

GilchristCruisers 02-20-2013 11:04 AM

There's always Bonifay for breakfast. Decent food. Reasonable price. Just sayin'.

2BNTV 02-20-2013 11:50 AM

I hope Toojays is close to WOB as I understand you can order food and they allow food to be brought in while having beers from all over the world.

Yogi Berra said, "nobody goes there anymore because it's too crowded".

I love Yogi's sayings. My all time favorite baseball player.

kittygilchrist 02-20-2013 01:40 PM

Toojays is great. Don't know why they didn't last in Gainesville. There's a nice offering of traditionally Jewish foods among a great menu.

Scoops 02-20-2013 08:50 PM

I vote for First Watch. They are awesome!

jrandall 02-20-2013 08:56 PM

I am so glad that TooJays will be there. Yeah!!!!!!

Yankee Quilter 02-20-2013 09:05 PM

Bonefish, Maggianos, sweet Tomatos, Chick FilA ... Trader Joes and Costo .... Near Brownwood .... Please Santa!
