Can anyone recommend a good female internal medicine/family practice physician?

I also recommend Dr. Butt. However it's so busy this time of year, it's hard to get in.

Dr Zareen Zaidi, Internal Medicine
1950 Laural Manor Drive, Bldg 150
The Villages
352 633 5282

This female doctor is wonderful. She speaks fluent English, has a calming personality and is extremely cognizant of details. She returns calls in a timely fashion and I am so pleased with her compassionate approach to whatever the problem.

I highly recommend her and can guarantee you will not regret the choice.

I have been seeing Dr. Catherine Horner at Family Doctors of Belleview and I am very pleased. They are located at 1400 US Highway 441, in the Sharon Morse Building beside TV Hospital, accessible by golf cart. Phone number is 352-391-1056. She is very easy to talk to, and their staff is excellent. My husband sees one of the male doctors there and is very pleased as well. And we are very picky about our doctors!

Dr Villa is great!! Villa Medical Group on Belle Meade.

I have had wonderful doctors up north, but the staff and their attitude have been so bad that I have switched to a teaching medical hospital for my primary care. Can you all state how you are treated at your doctors' offices that you are recommending?

Do they put the almighty dollar before patient care? Do they treat you respectfully when you check in and/or deal with them before and after, or are you treated like cattle? Do they have an attitude that the doctor is God and you are a underling?

These are attitudes that caused me to take my medical care away from our small town in West MI to the University of Michigan across the state, where the doctors and all staff, bar none, treat you with such respect.

When we move down here permanently, I am looking for that atmosphere. I would be interested in hearing your opinions about the whole practice, besides the doctor. Thanks for any responses.

He sees Dr. Pead.

gocubsgo 03-09-2013 04:20 PM

Beware of Dr Pead!! We went to him when we first got down here and he is so overwhelmed with patients, he mixes them up. He prescribed me the wrong RX twice and scheduled my husband for tests that were meant for the next patient in back of him. His office staff lost our records when we tried to leave and didn't forward them once they DID locate them for almost a year! He also is a self proclaimed germ a phobic and will not touch you during an exam. He sits on the other side of the exam table, types in everything you say to him, shoots off an RX (usually the wrong one!) then promptly leaves!

Not my experience at all with Dr. Pead, just for the record. I have found him very approachable, not at all in a hurry, and yes he has touched me during the exam (to examine a problem I was having with my shoulder). Not questioning your experience, gocubsgo, just relating my own.

gocubsgo 03-09-2013 06:32 PM

I'm glad to hear at least one person has had a good experience with him.

Please check your RX's at the drug store before you leave the window.

I also go to Dr. Pead. I, however, see his nurse practitioner, Sylvia. She is so awesome. I followed her from another Dr. that I go to. She is the best !!!!

I'll second that emotion about Sylvia. I would have followed her when she left Lady Lake, but instead of going to Colony she was switched to the Family Doctors of Belleview at the Sharon Morse Bldg. (a Villages Health System Partner) Although I was called twice to see if I wanted to go to her, I decided to wait and see about Colony since I was so close to there I could ride my mobility scooter there if I wanted to.

As it turned out we selected Dr. Noel at Colony HCC, and after both of us seeing her twice we decided we liked her and to stay there. I've never experience a doctor that spent as much time with us as Dr. Noel on our first two appointments did getting to know us and our health particulars. I think the first appointment alone reached over an hour even though it was supposed to be 45 minutes.

While mentioning the Colony Center, I can't speak enough about how friendly and efficient ever body was at that location on my first 6 visits to the center. If this is any indication of how these centers are going to operate, villagers have a lot to look forward to with them.

BTW, I would have posted this info earlier, but IIRC the OP did not live within the seven villages Colony covered. And as for Dr. Pead... is it possible gocubsgo had a bad experience because Dr Pead was under a lot more pressure with the practice he came from? I don't know, but I do know that most doctors at other practices generally have double the patient load than doctors will have at these new Villages Health Care Centers. Just a thought!

I'm glad it worked out well for you. I know the Village Health Care System had some kinks to work out, but I'm very happy with them !!

Regarding Sylvia....I used to go to her at another practice. I just called Dr. Pead's office and the only way you can see her now is to see him first. His first available appt. isn't until August!!

Dr Zaidi

I have been going to Dr Zaidi for awhile now. She is my 4th since I moved here 8 years ago. So sad to hear today that she is leaving the practice next month. I probably saw her for the last time today. I dread trying to find another one:( They will be bringing in another female dr when she leaves but.....:cryin2:

Great....I just made an appointment this week with her as a new patient for mid May. No one said a thing. Guess I have to start a search all over again. Sure would have been nice if they said something. Don't want to transfer all my records over if I won't be able to see her. Guess I better call them tomorrow and cancel my appointment.

She's great!

My wife went to her first......and now I am using her too.

She was able to get my wife in quickly to see Dr. Liu, who is one of the top cardiologist/vascular surgeons around....and has a huge waiting list. :coolsmiley:

Supposedly the female doctor they are bringing in to replace Zaidi is Tasneem Cheema........coming in from The Villages Hospital where she was on staff. Anyone ever deal with her at the hospital? Any opinions on her?

Flip Flop Forever 05-24-2013 09:37 PM

Dr. Zaidi has already moved

I read on this forum and also heard from neighbors that Dr. Zaidi would be leaving the area soon. Since I had an early July appointment, I thought she would be leaving after that or I would have been notified.

I called the office yesterday and learned that she is already gone. I questioned the fact that they hadn't notified patients, and we had to hear by word of mouth. I told them that I needed medicine refills, and they said that I would have to see the new Dr. in order to get them. ( By the way, it is a male rather than a female.)

I don't like the way their practice operates. I already have an appointment with another group.

Dr. Zaidi was an excellent Dr. I'm sorry to hear that her group isn't as professional. Do any other former patients feel the same way?

It is a female Dr (Tasneem Cheema) that has replaced Dr. Zaidi....however, after I got there and sat for 45 minutes for my appointment (even though they said my insurance was fine), they informed me that unfortunately they just realized that the new Dr. hasn't been approved the insurance company yet (she was in a pending mode) so if I still wanted to keep my appointment I would have to pay as an un-insured or see another Dr until the new one is approved. But to see another Dr. I would have to make another appointment........:rant-rave:

So if anyone out there has an appointment there with this new doctor, you better check before you go to your appointment that she has gotten full approval for your insurance company and is not sitting out there in a pending mode still.

I am seeing Dr. Tasneem Cheema now that Dr. Zaidi (sniff - loved her!) has left. As it happens, Dr. Cheema had also been my hospitalist during a stay in Leesburg, so I was someone familiar with her. I'm not sure why she left the hospital, but her brother is also one of the partners in that practice so maybe that had something to do with.

I do like her, but she has obviously not been in private practice for a while, or maybe ever. She was a little nervous and uncertain when I saw her and didn't seem to be in the swing of things with regard to a seeing patients outside hospital rounds. I assume her medical knowledge is up to snuff and am giving her the benefit of the doubt so far. I don't know if she's board certified and didn't pay attention to her diplomas to see where she went to school or did her residency.

The office staff there has been hit or miss with me. They're nice and try to be helpful but sometimes don't seem to be the most efficient; for example, they told me I had cancelled my recent appointment when I had not. The practice has its own lab for bloodwork, which is convenient.
