New boomers club south
 

To all our new residents there is a New baby boomers club starting. It's advertised in todays rec news!! starts Sat 3/15 at 6:30 at Colony!! Must be born between 46 and 64 or at least one spouse must!!

So all you residents in Gilchrist, Pinellas give it a try!! It will be fun

So Fernandina is out of luck?

sorry meant Sat the 16th It will probably be mostly couples as they do have a singles baby boomers I believe. Don't think they would turn you away if single but I'm sure like the old one it will be all new couples that moved in recently!! But it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. Only requirements I'm aware of are the age limitations,

Is it open to renters?? Sounds fun.

The Singles Baby Boomers Club actually asks for an ID that has your age on it like a drivers license to make sure you were born during the specified years. :shrug:

i'm sure they will card you to make sure you meet their requirements. and yes everyone south of 466A come on down!! meet new friends !!

Can you join if you are just north of 466A? And new to the Villages?

Inthought I read in the rec news it was for anyone south of 466...is that right or is it 466A. We live in St. James and planned on going with some friends in Fernandina.

Rec centers have rules. And strict ones.
 

When using a rec center, can a club restrict who wants to come or say what area they must come from? All of the rec centers and pools are for all of us no matter where we live. It is usually first come first served for classes and if you go over the limit on numbers you will be turned away, probably for fire safety. Isn't it the same for clubs?

The only restriction that I have heard of about usage of rec centers and pools is that the people must be villagers with ID and guests with ID and they cannot go over a number limit.

But I could be wrong and frequently am.

I know we had Hadley neighborhood club meetings at Odell, but no one else WANTED to come so it wasn't an issue.

You'd better go back to the drawing board on this one - what about all the new very young people who are moving into areas north of 466A? Does living north of 466A take away their baby boomer status?

I just read in the Recreation News that this new club is for residents south of 466. I'm a Baby Boomer, but I live in the wrong side of the tracks :(. There are many new residents that live throughout TV, a club like this would be perfect for us on the weekends.
Anyone else out there feel the same? How about a new social club where marital status, age, or where you live doesn't matter? And to boot on a Friday or Saturday Night? We could, dance, eat, sing Karaoke, and listen to bands!

March 15 is a Friday.....Saturday is the 16th.

They use a different calendar south of 466a.

Now that is a REALLY great idea - just a plain old social club with no strings attached, somewhere to go on a Saturday evening and enjoy people.

May I suggest you start a new thread and see if you get any interest.

Oh, oh is there a new north/south war about to erupt here? I don't think they were trying to be exclusionary - at least I hope not.

Well,I've been reading all of these posts and still don't understand the requirements or how to join this club.Where and when do you meet?

BB South meets 3rd Sat of each month. Contact Lynne Shields (Lynnebbs@gmail.com) for more info. Note that most meetings need advance tickets and at some point (just like the original BB club) will hit max capacity and will start a waiting list for new members. (unless we have new rec centers with seating for 5000 built!)

The "South" part happened, I think, because the original BB club hit max capacity and stopped taking new folks about the same time that many of the newer villages were being built.

If it's a SINGLE Baby Boomers Club, you have to be SINGLE?

If it were a single boomers club, one would need to be single. Since it isn't, you don't have to be single. You can be married, single, divorced, widowed, domestic partnered, roommates, housemates, kennelmates, polyamorous, or whatever other combination or status you can dream up.
