Long Island Club Meeting for April

Heres the deal! If we show enough interest I'd like to find us a spot to have a meeting for The Long Island Club. I'm not sure of the interest and if I see enough hands waving to do it --we will. Not sure if it will be a simple get together at Crispers or at a rec center somewhere. I'm looking at an opening in my schedule during the first week in April.

Please respond to this post or send me a PM.

Long Island Club

My wife and I are in.........North Babylon

Tom Hannon 03-13-2013 07:33 AM

Okay. Now we have a big party of three. Hopefully, others will respond.

2newyorkers 03-13-2013 07:44 AM

My husband and I also hope to be there. Coram

chachacha 03-13-2013 09:30 AM

i think there is lots of interest in such a club. the problem is to get people to volunteer to run it :) will try to make any meeting you arrange....deer park!

MsBrown 03-13-2013 09:57 AM

I'll keep watching for the date. Grew up in North Babylon & West Islip.

Ecuadog 03-13-2013 10:31 AM

My wife and I are in.

ladila2 03-13-2013 02:18 PM

We're interested. I grew up in Wantagh, schooled in Levittown, and lived in Suffolk County as an adult!

Tom Hannon 03-14-2013 07:23 AM

Would a day in the first week in April work? What will happen next is one person can't do Mondays, another Tuesdays etc. it is nearly impossible for everyone to agree on a day. I might have to just pick a date and go with it. Does anyone prefer afternoons, mornings or early evenings. I am leaning for a non formal get together at Crispers for now. Once we get organized we can move us to regular. ...possible bi monthly meetings at a rec center. Not sure of what else can be done under such short notice. Any ideas?

2newyorkers 03-14-2013 07:29 AM

I think Crispers is a good idea, almost centrally located and has a big outdoor area.

And we have no obligations for a specific head count. Now we must decide on the day and time. This is where it gets crazy. Hopefully, we can decide on a date that most people can make.

chachacha 03-14-2013 08:51 AM

if it is lunchtime i can make any day! thanks for your efforts!

jimbo2012 03-14-2013 12:40 PM

Calverton - Baiting Hollow.

Chrispers is ok, but not that conducive to hanging out so to speak,
I'll suggest a Thursday eve at Evans Prairie, 1/2 price drinks 2-5 or 8-10pm

Also Thur is the one nite without a band blasting.

I meet there with another group once in while nice place several seating areas outside.

Just an idea

Tom Hannon 03-14-2013 03:08 PM

I'm open to anything but will listen to all suggestions. Evans p. might be a distance for our Spanish Springs members. I'd like to keep the meeting centralized . To be continued.....

murfice 03-17-2013 02:07 PM

Long Island Club

Either Crispers or Evan Prairie.......As Tom said......lets just make it work and get together.

kenlynn426 07-09-2013 06:52 AM

Thanks

DianeM 07-09-2013 07:10 AM

Tom Hannen and his wife organized the first and only meeting before he got sick. The attendees came from Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk. He intends to ressurect it ( I think) when the body is willing. That's the last I heard.
I'm almost sure he would abdicate as the gensis and look forward to another stepping up.
My wife and I still summer on LI and would love to belong a LI club.
Let's keep our fingars crossed:BigApplause:

That sounds like a plan to me. I'd do Evans Prairie.

DianeM 07-10-2013 06:46 PM

Kinda sounds as if most of the Long Island contingent is back up North. How disappointing.

Is this club meeting?, we are new to the Villages and are interested in this club

Tom Hannon 08-08-2013 06:18 PM

I will be in TV in October. (For only a month) But it might be cool to get together and see what typr of interest we have. And then, if all goes well, we can step it up when I return in January.

Futurevillager2013 08-08-2013 07:20 PM

I'm in. I would like the evenings since I may be working by then. The day doesn't matter. May I ask why we need to wait until April to do this ? Seems like a long way off.
I would be willing to help. Moving to TV in two months seems like a great way to make new friends.

I agree that January is a long way off. I too said I'd be willing to help. I must be missing something.

Tom Hannon 08-09-2013 06:49 AM

If you guys can get something together beforehand ...great. You don't need me to organize anything. We are all grown-ups now. It doesn't take much to send a few messages and set up a meeting place. It is just a little more difficult to do for me when I'm 1200 miles away. Our one meeting we had two years ago was a big success but I then ran into a few medical issues and needed to head to Boston. The group was supposed to continue without me, but it never did. Someone please jump on this and get the ball rolling.

DianeM 08-09-2013 08:10 AM

Maybe we could get something going until you get back and can take back over?

jimbo2012 08-09-2013 08:37 AM

I nominate Diane to start the ball rolling.

How about a get together at Evans Parrie in the breezeway for drinks about 8PM some evening.

We meet there for other get togethers and it works well.

skip0358 08-09-2013 11:06 AM

Evenings are a good idea I'd be interested also. Missed the last meeting Tom pulled off. Evans is a good idea. To bad Happy Hour ends at 5.
