No new gym in Eisenhower

went to a meeting with Pam Henry the other day and she was asked if a new gym was going in the Eisenhower rec center and the answer was NO. the gyms are so crowded now I wonder where all these NEW residents are going to go?? Even IF they build a MVP over there they are very over priced and won't give the residents much choice.

manaboutown 03-20-2013 08:24 AM

The villages certainly could use a few good gyms!

graciegirl 03-20-2013 08:35 AM

Is Eisenhower a regional rec center?

Yes it is. I found this thread;https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...th-466a-52769/

BUT WHO IS PAM HENRY? AND WHAT MEETING DID YOU GO TO???

Get a planet fitness down here.. They are great ...39 bucks to join and 10 dollars a month! How can you beat that? They have the latest equipment and are super clean. Also have instructors on duty . I used them where I had lived before. I found no downside to them. When they open up in an area,a lot of the other smaller gyms close because they can't keep up with the price point offered by planet fitness .

No Fitness Center in the New Regional Center!! Now, that surprises me.

I asked my rep who has been around for quite some time and has sold us two house and he said he didn't know.

I am still trying to see what Heartnsoul says about "what" meeting and "who" is Pam Henry....

Heartnsoul 03-20-2013 11:06 AM

Pam Henry is the Supervisor of the Dept of Recreation so if anyone knows she does. I went to a volunteer meeting for those of us who run clubs. Very disappointing news especially for all those new residents out that way.

No new fitness centers when the ones currently built are jammed is unbelievable.
Wonder if 24/7 or Anytime Fitness can get a contract within the Villages?
Sure wish someone could offer the rationale behind this decision.

Putting aside all of the resident input and work done by USF about healthcare in TV and the discussion and planning about how to meet these needs and make TV America's happiest and healthiest community. Could it possibly be that this is purely a business decision based on cost vs. profit or, the only way to get MVP to build and open a new facility by offering a guarantee of no competition???

The Buckeyes 03-20-2013 07:02 PM

For a person going to live south of 466a and has had two triple bypass operations............a fitness center would be a nice thing to have, I'm sure I'm not the only one in need of continuing rehab!

Portia 03-20-2013 07:23 PM

That seems to be the answer.. competition.. they probably wont bring a chain like Planet fitness in because Mvp would loss all its customers.. so it seems that the villages itself must have an agreement with MVP..that no other fitness club will be allowed in.. what a shame..

hancle704 - my thoughts exactly!

We have an "Anytime" fitness here, don't we? I know I have seen it.

There are several around the area:

Find a Gym | Anytime Fitness

Enter your zip code.

Bill :)

Anytime Fitness Centers are not located in TV so they are not golf cart accessible. One is located on HWY 27/441 in Bailey Plaza North of TV the newest is located on CR 466 near Rolling Acres Rd.

Neither are near Brownwood or south of 466A. Perhaps the proposed Regional Rec. Center at 44 & Morse will have a Fitness Center and will be golf cart accessible.

I have sent this thread to John Rohan, director of the recreation department just to double check. When I get his answer I will post it.

justjim 03-21-2013 08:12 AM

Thanks Gracie. As you can see, there is a lot of interest in Fitness among the residents in TV. That's a good thing! Just go to Colony in the morning----absolutely every machine in the place was taken when I got there the other morning. They have to be profitable. Usually I go in the afternoon because it is less crowded.

I think as the build-out nears completion, a lot of things are going to change here. Rumors are already flying that plans are underway to have live music in the squares only on weekends and special occasions.

Yeah. Rumors. We sure do have the market cornered on rumors.

You will learn not to believe everything you hear....................
Also not a good idea to pass along rumors!

I'd go for that. I pay The Villages 127.50 for 3 months or 42.50 per month for a very nice gym that is so crowded that I avoid mornings due to being overcrowded. I go around noon to avoid the crowd and many times have to wait to use equipment.

Heartnsoul 03-21-2013 04:48 PM

went to seabreeze gym this morning and NOT only had to wait for a treadmill but a bike as well.
