I am looking for a website that lists daily rainfall totals
 

I am looking for a website that lists daily and/or hourly rainfall totals in The Villages. I have looked at many weather websites but can't seem to find one that gives this information. Does anyone have a suggested website?

Lady Lake, FL Hourly Weather Forecast - WeatherBug.com Does everything but that.

I found some websites for daily rainfall amounts for Lady Lake but you have to buy the more detailed weather reports which include daily rainfall amounts.

Try Weather.com - The Weather Channel . Select your city/location (you can enter a zip code) which will display today's weather for that locale. On the toolbar to the left, click on 'Monthly' - it will show you the forecast for 10 days forward (high temp, low temp, and probability of precip by day) but it also will show you observed high temp, low temp, and measured precip by day going back in time for the current month. You can scroll the month backwards as well to see the info for prior months.

This particular link is for Virginia Trace in The Villages. Hit the "Station Select" button and scroll down to other weather stations within The Villages.

These are home based stations that give the local conditions but rainfall for the current day only. There doesn't seem to be a link for previous days.

The only one who collects that information that I know of is Karl Loeper, the weatherman on WVLG radio. He has weather spotters in nearly every village here, plus Spruce Creek. You can contact him at Karlsweather@gmail.com.

Do yourself a favor and buy a rain gauge. It could be pouring in one section and not a drop in your yard. So if that is what you are looking for you are better off measuring on your own.

I brought one with me when we brought our furniture here end of February, and have been hardly been able to see it have any rain in it! We had one "relatively good" storm, but I hadn't unpacked it yet...The next day I dug for it...finally last night it had something in it, but it ony shows a trace...less than 1/4 inch. I agree this is the best way to see rainfall, as it varies ALOT from even block to block.

We are coming out of our dry season - get ready - when one of those whopper storms rolls through your gauge may be running over!!!

there are several folks here in The Villages who report rainfall from several different locations on a daily basis. You just need to select what county you are in and you will see all of the locations.

We have some pretty powerful storms here, but nothing like we saw in the desert SW with rivers running through arroyos. Now those were some storms!

There are a number of personal weather stations in TV and they are linked to Weather Underground. Try this link and scroll down the page and you will see a list starting at midnight giving you readings every 5 minutes. You might have to click on the View button next to the date to display the daily listing. WU use to be a lot more user friendly on finding these weather stations and now you have to dig around to get there.

By the way Karl Loeper at WVLG relies a lot on the information from John's (second link) weather station located in Virginia Trace.

Cool. Just want to re-iterate something someone else said. It could be raining heavily in Lynnhaven and Polo Ridge about a mile away could be dry. The parts of the Villages five to six miles in either direction of Lynnhaven also often get quite different weather than we do unless there is some large front coming in from some direction. There are a lot of microclimates in the Villages.

This winter you would think we were living in the desert! So called "dry season" is an understatement. I got a tuna can in the yard. "Poor people have poor ways". Anonymous

Thank you to each of you for your suggestions. I have bookmarked the websites and I am going out to get a good rain gauge. Now all we need is rain!

If you go to wunderground. com, place your cursor on the "weather" tab and look for the column labeled PWS. Scroll down and select "map of weather stations". You can zoom the map to our area and see all the personal weather stations in our area.

There are a number of villagers that post to this site on a daily basis. Maybe even one might be your next door neighbor or in your area as different locations may vary widely in rainfall amounts.
