Mr. Midnight

I just finished the book, Leisureville, about life in TV. Is Mr. Midnight a real person?

gocubsgo 04-20-2013 07:08 PM

I sure hope not!!

graciegirl 04-20-2013 07:43 PM

Well...........I heard......

I think maybe he was real....but all that late night activity and all those blue pills, you have to believe the rumor from several undocumented sources that he has since moved on to the village of heavenly, just simply from overdoing it.

;)

The undertaker could not get the smile off his face.

rayschic 04-20-2013 07:56 PM

Some peope have been lookng for him for years.

Life In The Villages Fl: HEY Mr. Midnight, I'm looking for you.

» KunstlerCast #146: Geritopia The KunstlerCast

The author, Andrew Blechman, is interviewed and describes Mr. Midnight. I think he slips and refers to him as Joe at some point. If I recall correctly Liesureville was published in 2008. Andrew refers to Mr. M as being in his early to mid sixties at the time he met him which would make him about 70 today. Reputedly he was a biology teacher from a midwestern state, I forget which one. Of course that could all have been dressing to hide the guy's real identity.

On my 2011 visit some construction worker hanging out at Katie belle's claimed he was Mr. M but he was in his late fifties and had no class. The manner in which he approached women was aggressive and a bit crude, very different than Mr. M's technique as described by Blechman.

IRL I know a few Mr. Midnights. They do exist.

Whoa, did he really? I'm thinking we need an Official replacement MM, he is such a legend. He can march in parades and attend grand openings.

I had this discussion with a friend who has lived in T.V. since before LSL opened and he told me that Mr. Midnight in fact does (did) exist and that he knows him.

Since this friend is a straight shooter on all other matters, I believe him!!!

gocubsgo 04-22-2013 09:25 AM

Maybe he can do Grand Openings at all the new Walgreens going up! Appropriate...

graciegirl 04-22-2013 09:30 AM

This is one ugly dude - ughhhhhhhhhhhhh

manaboutown 04-22-2013 11:08 AM

From Blechman's description Mr. M probably resembles George Clooney.

Taltarzac725 04-22-2013 11:57 AM

I thought he called his smaller head "Mr. Midnight" and had a playboy rabbit symbol featured on his driveway?

2BNTV 04-22-2013 01:11 PM

Let me dispel one rumor. Mr. Midnight is not this Joe.

BTW - Not that he is my type but that is one ugly dude!!!! When was the last time he shaved and showered. EWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

jackz 04-22-2013 08:32 PM

Seems Mr. Midnite has aged quite a bit and is now known as Mr. 8:30.....

De Lis 04-23-2013 04:59 AM

Imagine all the diseases this guy must have - run far, run fast!

graciegirl 04-23-2013 05:49 AM

Perhaps he looks like this? Sweetie is even better looking, but I didn't want to embarrass him and I hate when girls whistle at him.

gocubsgo 04-23-2013 06:52 AM

He looks too shifty and dishonest..like he knows something you don't!

renrod 04-23-2013 08:05 AM

I recognize that guy

Is that Sweetie's twin brother?

RETIREDSFW 04-23-2013 12:05 PM

Gracie, he would scare the hell out of me if i saw him at midnight. Lol. I have ordered the book and also "evil in paradise" which i understand is about tv. Can't wait to read all the gossip.

Patty55 04-23-2013 01:07 PM

I always wondered why no women seem to come forward and admit to taking a Midnight Ride.

N44125 04-23-2013 05:02 PM

I have a new copy, one gentle reader of "Leisureville" for sale, $5, see listing posted today in ITEMS FOR SALE.

Astii 04-23-2013 06:11 PM

I knew someone who lived on his street.

maggiet 07-13-2013 03:29 PM

The book is supposedly factual, so there is a Mr. Midnight out there.

Since I haven't read the book, I'm very curious. Exactly what is it that this Mr.
Midnight did that gained him a reputation interesting enough to be the subject of a book?

He isn't the subject. He is the comic relief or the villain or the spicy character apparently seen or created by Andrew Blechman to sell the book "Leisureville".

Mr. Midnight is a fellow who likes to please all of the girls and enjoys pleasing as many as he can. He apparently hangs out at Katie Belles and lures 'em in. His little black book is bulging at the seams and his adventures are epoch.

I don't know if he is real or not but...
There is a lot goin' on in this naked city.

I think it may show...We ain't dead yet.

sharonga 07-17-2013 09:26 PM

Wow, he gives me goosebumbs!!!!!!

manaboutown 07-17-2013 11:58 PM

Does his golf cart turn into a pumpkin at midnight or what?

manaboutown 07-18-2013 12:03 AM

Perhaps Andrew Blechman could write a sequel to Leisureville. The Real Housewives of The Villages meet Mr. Midnight.

That is funny..........the only way he could stay up till midnite and beyond is to nap during the daylight hours.

Just noticed that this thread is very old........

First Mr Midnight is a real guy. I have a brother who ran free for many years and is now married. He ran into Mr. Midnight one night hortly after this book went on sale and his statement to me was if I was still single I run circles around that guy. And he probably would have because my brother is not one for idle boasts

Secondly placing Mr. Midnight and other such nonsense in his book is exactly why Leisureville never reached legitimacy. the author misrepresented The Villages

If Mr. Midnight was truly flesh and blood, I'm surprised that none of his conquests or attempted conquests (who I assume would still be living in TV) have not weighed in here. It would interesting to learn exactly why he got such a 'Don Juan' reputation. Was it deserved or a figment of his imagination?

A couple years ago I was at a dance in DeBary FL sitting with a group of singles when a couple of the ladies identified a senior gentleman on the dance floor as a male escort for hire.

Could it be Mr. M was a contractor with a full work schedule?
