Just wondering....about Paddock Square

Ok, get out the popcorn! I have a couple complaints about Paddock Square!

:rant-rave:What were the builders thinking?!?:rant-rave:

At Paddock Square there is a big round bench with plants in the middle....it's a great place to sit to enjoy the entertainment EXCEPT that the planter is made of these really big sharp stones, which form the backrest of the bench/seating area.

The rocks are extremely uncomfortable, and sharp and they can tear at your clothes.

I am amazed that they think this is even appropriate for The Villages....could be dangerous, too!

Please give me some feedback on this!:crap2::crap2::crap2:

Its to keep people from roping it off and saving the seats.

cquick 04-25-2013 12:53 PM

Oh, that's a good one! Yeah, you can't even lean back! Nobody would rope that area off!

billlaur 04-25-2013 12:57 PM

Just sit elsewhere, simple ez solution..people will complain about anything...

billethkid 04-25-2013 01:25 PM

itsa planter?
So why is it being raised as a poor design for a back rest?
Who said it was a backrest?
Brownwood open for months with thousands of visitors and one complaint about a planter that is an uncomfortable back rest.......WOW!!!!!!!

Who says it was meant to sit on?

jblum315 04-25-2013 01:50 PM

Not every horizontal surface is meant to be a seat you know

pooh 04-25-2013 02:15 PM

Where is this planter? Guess I haven't noticed it. I'm down there every now and then....will have to look for it. Went through the pictures I have of the square and also couldn't see it.

Please be careful!

I sat there for a while the day the Lotto was in the square. Maybe my as* has enough padding I didn't find it that bad. Once a few chairs opened I moved but someone took my place on the stone bench.

Ron1Z 04-25-2013 02:49 PM

Go sit somewhere else. Problem solved.

KatieDidNot 04-25-2013 06:01 PM

Well, it is indeed a bench and I can see how clothing can be torn. It certainly was not designed for functionality....more for aesthetic appeal. It appears to be an easy fix if a mason would cover the stone with a clear resin of sorts and make it smooth. Not sure who you would call, but I might try first with the Sales Office...they would get you pointed in the right direction.

How true, it's meant for laying.

I enjoy Brownwood. I like sitting in the bleachers when it rains and not getting wet. Its not so busy like the other squares. The sound system is better, too.

Hey! I'm not complaining! Just commenting that if you're gonna build a bench for people to sit on, why put sharp rocks for the backrest?

I really don't think sex in the square would be appropriate.

I didn't notice the bench but from the pics provided here it does look uncomfortable. As already suggested why don't you go to the sales office in Brownwood and speak to someone. Maybe they can have someone take care of it.
Thanks for bringing it up.

The sales office has nothing to do with maintenance of facilities. Its District Property Management to be contacted.
