Pools and Birdcages...But NOT with T & D...Recommendations?

Hi All,

We just closed on our Ivy (it was already built, so I had no option to do a pool/birdcage with T & D thru construction).

Now, I called T & D, and they can't even talk to us for ***SIX WEEKS***.

Can anyone recommend any other pool and/or birdcage company that does great work and actually has time to meet with us?

Thanks to all! You are all so wonderfully helpful!

Angie

All Seasons Pools, 407-871-2020 are the best. Came out next day, had done their homework and already had a couple plans for us to work with. 12 weeks to finish...We have. CYV, were expecting Stephen to either say they couldn't do a pool, or it would be very small. We ended up with a 17x9. Tell Stephen that Sharon Hicks sent you. Our pool will be done in July and we can't wait. Stephen sends updates and pics as it progresses, as we are currently back in Michigan.

T and D.

Yup. Six weeks wait could mean they are so good they are sought after, very booked and extremely desirable..

They are the contractors that the Morses use to put in pools.

Here are some threads on the same subject.

Our realtor recommended All Seasons Pool. We found out that they have put all the pools in the Disney complexes worldwide. They also have a top rating with the BBB. Give them a call, talk to Stephen, let him come out and go thru everything with you. Then make a decision. I think you will be impressed, just like we were. Good luck!

Thanks, Sharon! There were some pretty derogatory comments about All Seasons on TOTV so I wasn't too sure about calling them...BUT, it sounds like you had a great experience with them. It definitely wouldn't hurt to give them a call and set up an estimate. I have one estimate from EML pools (I like that they will use San Juan fiberglass pools...very great designs!), but really want to get at least 2 other bids for such an expensive project.

I did see a couple negatives, and also the same of T&D. Just do your homework and decide who you feel most comfortable with. You will make the right decision. Good luck Angie, enjoy your pool once it is installed.

tainsley 04-29-2013 05:15 PM

Had All Seasons put a pool in. Took six weeks from the time they dug the hole. It will be a year the end of June. Everything went well...I use it everyday! You are more than welcome to come by and see it!

jimbo2012 04-29-2013 06:16 PM

Although I'm putting my own in,
I got a price from T&D and All Seasons, T&D was $6,000 less.
They had a list of each and every cost option etc.

They also install Sun Pools fiberglass pools theycost less with many advantages over concrete.

Including install time like 2 weeks.

Steven is a bit of a wheeler dealer?????? U have to ask for many std options, if U don't you're out luck.

I totally agree with Gracie. Wait for them.

Billyg 04-29-2013 09:47 PM

T&D. Can't say enough good about them. Great company, treat their employees great and treat us great. The wait is because they are so in demand. That is for a reason.

T&D...worth the wait AND there prices are very competitive.

We had several quotes and waited 4 months for T&D to begin our install. They are far superior as a result of my research with them and others in this area. This is the 5th Inground pool we have had in the last 30 years and they are so good at what they do.

SALT WATER is more efficient and less expensive. We have had 2 chlorine and 3 saltwater systems. No comparison in cost and ease of maintenance.

jimbo2012 04-30-2013 06:02 PM

G-Nut

But U should clarify that it is not really salt water?????

It is merely another for of chlorine.

Thanks for posting your lovely photo! I will quote GracieGirl's Quote... WOW! That night photo was stunning!!!

I have to believe you are correct, as I truly don't understand how the salt water system works BUT:

With chlorine tablets and powder, it was always a struggle to get the levels correct. It would irritate my eyes and leave my skin feeling chalky. If left alone for 3 or four days, the water would turn murky, algae would grow and it was a real pain to get it back close enough to get in the water.

Now with the Salt Water System, I can open my eyes under water, no smells or irritation at all. If left alone for 3 or 4 weeks, it is still perfect. I worked for 40 years to allow us the best and with the Salt Water Pool System, we have it. I wish you the best of luck with your new swim spa.

jimbo2012 05-01-2013 04:39 AM

Yes the so called salt chlorine system is less harmful according to the pool industry.

But it is still chlorine, has has negative affects as a carcinogen.

Kinda like a filter on a cigarette, still harmful.

But if I was not doing my type of pool filtration system, I would opt for salt/chlorine system.

I know it cost more but you made the better choice.

Sleeper 05-01-2013 06:34 AM

Are you referring to ingesting large quantities? I could not find any references to cancer from pool water??

jimbo2012 05-01-2013 10:48 AM

Just Google it.

Swimming in chlorinated pools can cause an increased risk of cancer in bathers, Spanish researchers said on Monday.

Researchers from the Barcelona-based Center of Research in Environmental Epidemiology and Research Institute Hospital del Mar studied changes in indicators of mutagenicity — permanent mutation of the DNA — among a group of swimmers in an indoor chlorinated pool.

"The evidence of genotoxic effects were observed in 49 healthy adults after swimming for 40 minutes in a chlorinated indoor pool," CREAL said in a statement on Monday.

Researchers found indicators of an increase in cancer risk in healthy subjects as well as potential respiratory effects from the chlorine used as a disinfectant, the statement said.

I am really sorry. The devil made me type it. I loves you Jimbo.

Also. Do you think bleached blondes are suffering from genetic mutations?

Just kidding. Well now that I think of it..............maybe you are right............

Beware of All Seasons Pools

We thought we did our homework and chose All Seasons because of their reputation. When they first started in The Villages there was nothing but praise and really did the job right. In the past year maybe more, things changed.

For our pool they started construction end of October and things still dragged on into late January into February. We had to constantly stay on them because of unfinished or faulty parts. Sub contractors rushed, didn't check work which required call backs. We're still trying the get the sprinkler guy to sync one zone he missed!

Now we're horrified that the interior finish is staining! We hear we are not alone from our pool service. He has about 10 clients having the same problem. Another local pool service has more. All Seasons claim it's a chemistry issue but did change the interior finish company they were dealing with. All those effected need to get together. Please let me know if you have a similar experience.

Gerald 06-08-2013 08:15 AM

I used T&D had to wait a few weeks for the estimate. They did a great job. No problems at all. Everything is told to you everything is spelled out and each item was shown in the estimate and bill. All I can say is the are not the cheapest nor are they the most expensive. You will be happy with the results. They never lied never hid anything. Choose wisely is all I can suggest.

I used All Seasons and had no issues with construction or touch ups. I did have a staining issue but they came out, drained the pool, re-finished the bottom and filled up the pool (they paid me for the water). Pool looks spectacular now - hope it stays that way.

Mack184 06-08-2013 01:22 PM

All Seasons has an "A" grade with Angie's List. T&D has no rating at all there, however many people have said to me that they do very fine work.

jimbo2012 06-08-2013 01:33 PM

do U really think Angies list is the gold standard?

Obviously YOU do not. However, since moving here and essentially not knowing anybody, I have found it to be a very valuable tool, and have not once been disappointed by people I have selected from it.

Agree. Nothing is totally foolproof, but when you are not familiar with the area, Angie's List is a valuable tool.

Thanks for the info. They are not offering that at this time. Sticking to blaming it on chemicals not problem with interior finish. How long ago did they rectify the staining problem by re-finishing bottom?

Strange thing is that I didn't think it was that bad. They insisted that they wanted to do it so I agreed. But it does look MUCH better after. I had the pool for about 8 months before they did it. That was about 9 months ago. I do have a service who does my chemicals and cleaning so I don't think they could blame it on chemicals.

Send me a PM if you'd like to come see it. Russ

T&D worth the wait. We waited 9 wks. Others may be as good, I really don't know, but based on the quality, the care, and follow up, as well as recommendations of people who had used them for years, and were completely pleased, I would endure the wait again. Just MHO

jimbo2012 06-11-2013 09:59 AM

I just heard from two different customers that claim they use outside subs that can be why the quality varies.

Trying to decide on pool. Would love to see your pool

Joanned 01-02-2014 10:26 PM

Actually I found just the opposite building our pool/ spa with all season. Stephen added options I wouldn't have thought of for less cost than T and D
I agree T and D is a good company too, but I'm very happy with my plan, the cost and the quality at All seasons

laceylady 01-02-2014 10:57 PM

You are new to the Villages I believe? We have been here a year and have dealt with various service people and been nicely burned! We are signing our pool contract with T&D on. Monday. We had to wait 12 weeks for them to come to our house. Due to the bad experiences I mentioned, we now only hire companies that work for the Villages. We want QUALITY. We got one other pool estimate that was less cost, but I wouldn't trust thatcompanyto put in a kiddie pool. Their way of bidding was soooo informal and unprofessional. My neighbor went with a less expensive company a year aboard her deck is cracking all over the place. Have PATIENCE, hire T&D.

Yung Dum 01-03-2014 12:54 AM

All Seasons cliams they stand behind every pool, which I feel is kinda creepy.

I agree, we have our pool for 5 years and no problems. T&D :clap2:

Try Fiesta Pools of Ocala.

The business has been running for many years, first with the father, now with his two sons, David & Gary and now their sons are also in the business.

Excellent job, very friendly family business who truly want to be in the business for years and years and have traded across at least three generations, they are experts at what they do.

You will not be disappointed, we weren't

ditto. the T&D team have been spot on with design experts, perfect construction, maintenance and follow up very quickly and professionally down to the smallest detail. Randy just left here as a consultant in how to install a fountain I want added to the basin. No extra charge.

Joanned 03-29-2014 09:22 PM

I have one of the best pools/spa in the villages and it was built by all seasons pools. Great design, quality workmanship, fair price( less than quote from t and d with more quality options included ) and faster build which was very nice too.
I especially like the quality of the birdcage
Call them and see for yourself
