4 deaths in a month...while moving to TV
I've tried to get on with moving to TV but throughout this month, several of those beloved to me have passed on. I'm just under it today and feeling down. I've lost a cousin in his 50's to lung cancer, a friend at 68 from brain cancer, an older brother in law to infection, and today, my son's amazing, virile puppy, lost in a road accident. I'm down and sad, and I don't ask for help often, but would appreciate some now.

Kitty.
First thing I will do is say some prayers and then perhaps we can gather a few of us together to eat lunch? Hugs and love. This is the hard part of being older, saying goodbye to people. I feel. |
Our prayers and thoughts are with you, Kitty.

I'm so sorry. I'm praying that God will fill you with His grace and peace. I saw a post in "Our Daily Bread" that you may find comforting.....unfortunately this site will not allow me to post it. If you go to Our Daily Bread's web site which is odb DOT org look for "the-best-season-yet" posted on April 26 you will find the post which I found very encouraging... odb.org/2013/04/26/the-best-season-yet

I actually think part of the appeal of TV is that it encourages us to make the most of our later years - to be positive and learn to enjoy living in ways we might not have done in our more hectic years.
As they say: "None of us is going to get out of here alive", but we can put extra value and appreciation into today. We are finally free to do what we've always wanted to do. If you're not sure what that is, you can go out and find it. None of us knows how long we will live. Saying goodbye to a loved one means we have another day to live. I've never enjoyed life more, or enjoyed my loved ones more than since being diagnosed with a terminal illness. Nothing is better than getting up to another great day. I hope you can get past the sting of death and be consoled by the blessings you have. Take care!!! |
Oh, how terribly sad you must be. I am thinking of you. I'm sure many others are too. We all have loses, and they seem so singular, don't they? But the sun has a funny habit of coming up each new day, with new unthought of horizons. All the best to you and yours.

Kittygilcrest,
Please feel my love and hug as you go through this difficult time. Hard as it seems to believe at first, time does ease the pain as the impact of sudden loss yields to the impact of wonderful memories gained over a lifetime. Ijustluvit, I just love your spirit and you too! Everyday is a beautiful day, and a gift. Thanks for reminding us of that. |
so sorry. I hope you can take comfort that so many of us are thinking of you and sending prayers your way.

Comfort to you as you grieve your losses. Celebrate them home.

Many Losses
With all the losses you have experienced you are appropriately in mourning.
Do NOT WALLOW IN YOUR GRIEF, BUT DO HONOR IT. Unrequited grief can be devastating. Try to spend time with people with whom you can discuss memories of the people who you are grieving. Remember the good times. While you are grieving be sure to eat well, sleep as well as possible, exercise adequately and allow yourself to express your feelings. Weep, laugh, and sit quietly with your memories. If you feel like :22yikes: by all means let yourself :22yikes: The old adage about time healing a broken heart is true, but it is often hard to wait. Look forward to the good things left in your life. Like moving to TV, but don't rush into any decisions while still mourning. Think about how you got through the tough times you have mastered in your life. Draw on your belief in a higher power if that is you bent. Know that many people will be praying for you. Blessings! |

You would make your pastor proud, C. Salybow has been so helpful on subjects like this so many times. I know the hospital greatly misses her as a Chaplain after she recently retired. Thank goodness she still reads this forum and weighs in. I just wish she lived next door to me sometimes. |
You and I have similar lives my family dies the week of my birthday....first one was when I was 4. Then came great grand parents grandparents aunts, uncles and cousins...I am either at the funeral home or the cematary ... I have not celebrated my birthday for a long time...I hold my breath each year and wait for the next time...and I hate flowers...just another funeral bouquet
|
Asianthree, I'm sorry for your losses and the painful timing. Maybe next birthday you could ask here for thoughts and prayers to be with you while you hold your breath. It really does help.

changing our address does not mean changing problems. They come with us, but The Villages makes it easier because of our friendships and love and support.

I'm so sorry Kitty, loss is a part of life but it is never easy to deal with. Thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way. Hang in there and it will hopefully get better, you are surrounded by loving and caring people here.

words to dwell on
Sadness is a thing that should be viewed in many ways,
For without this thing called sadness there could be no brighter days, No one to tell your troubles to, No time to sit and cry. I'm sure without this feeling that a soul could not get by; So listen to these words my friend remember what I say, If your heart is heavy now there'll be a brighter day. ag |
Kitty, Ditto to all that has aleady been said. Hugs, prayers and many kind wishes winging your way. If there is a get together, please count me in. Blessings. s

Kitty posted the first post on this thread in May.
It was difficult at first for her but I have watched her make friends and settle in. Kitty hosted several get togethers at her own home which encouraged others to do the same. Kitty is a remarkable person and she has a good solid base here now because people do care and she tried to reach out. It is difficult for almost everyone to make a major move and lifestyle change all at once without the sadness of deaths of people we care deeply about. If you are needing a little company or just a soft place to fall for a bit, let us know on this forum. We are truly a friendly home town. |
Hey Everybody, I'm doing fine and feeling great now that I've been here over 6 months and the dust has settled. I hope all the best for other people who are struggling with the move and appreciate the TV folks like Gracie who opened their hearts to welcome me here.
