Havana Country Club

We have heard the good and the bad about Havana and decided to give it a try. We had dinner there years ago but never went back, not sure why not. The food and service tonight were great. What made me sad was that there were so few people dining there. Hopefully it was because of the rain. Please give Havana our business. It is a beautiful country club and we need to support our restaurants.

Happy to hear you had a good experience at Havana. The facility is indeed beautiful, and it is too bad they don't have much of a following as far as the restaurant goes. Unfortunately it wasn't the rain that kept the crowd down. It was the food/service combination that has not measured up to consumers' expectations since opening day.
Chris is a super guy, but he cannot run a bar/restaurant to save his soul. After 4 tries, we gave up on the restaurant.
The bar is okay, but that's because of the bartenders, in spite of management.
You cannot have a successful country club without a reasonable food service operation. And that hasn't happened since the place opened. It is time for someone else to take over at Havana.
My opinion...

Maybe the overhaul should include changing the name of the club so that it gets a completely fresh start.

really a shame; havana has a great location, lovely setting overlookng the golf course. sadly, food and service have been the biggest obstacle. and the drawn-out threatened lawsuit by the neighbors over the patio 'noise' kept havana in the news but for all of the wrong reasons. yes, chris is a real nice guy.....but the time is up. let us hope that a new direction leads to success.

I go to Havana often after golf and I like it, the service, and the food. The service is a bit slower than Cane, but it does not give one that rushed feeling you get at Cane. BTW, I like Cane also.

I've been there a couple of times and both times the food was good and the service was excellent. I'll keep going there.

NavyCO 06-18-2013 10:05 PM

the place needs to simply close up shop

You can't do that, you need to keep paying the rent until the lease is up.

We had a group at Havana tonight, food and service was great.

Went to Havana last night for dinner after our Parrot Head meeting. I got the shrimp scampi with garlic bread. I have to say it was very good and I have more than enough left over for another meal. Hubby got a burger. It was really good. Great flavor.
We were both very happy with our meals.
We ate at the bar & had wonderful service !!
There was a nice crowd with good entertainment.

DougB 06-20-2013 12:21 PM

What was the entertainment?

Bonny 06-20-2013 12:24 PM

His last name was Sessa. Can't remember his first name. I think Tommy. He did a lot of Sinatra. He had a great voice ! Sad thing is he is playing there only one more time. He is moving back to New York.

There should be lots of entertainment there soon with the new program. Singing waiters and bartenders early July. Should be interesting.

Well let's hope the singing waiters and bartenders don't have to use their own tip money, if anyone of them is ambitious and caring enough to run over to Walgreens to buy a couple of 12-packs of beer, when the place runs out of beer at 1:00 p.m.

Bonny, you must be the luckiest person on this blog, I don't think you have ever gotten a less than satisfactory meal here in TV...............;) :)

Oh, I've had a few and there are a few places I'm not crazy about & a few that I don't like at all. I'm just one of those that just doesn't go back if I don't like it. I figure we all have different taste buds. I just feel blessed living here and "Living The Dream", awesome family and wonderful friends. It's all about enjoying life. I don't raise my blood pressure over the small stuff ! LOL. :clap2:

Excellent post!

Last Wednesday after golf, we met in the restaurant for lunch. The waitress was fantastic, I ordered a quesadilla I'm from California and it was fabulous. I've been longing for Mexican food. Of course I was paranoid about the food, hearing about the reputation of Havana. I'll return to Havana and I'll even order the Quesadilla with jalapenos again.

CatskillBill 06-22-2013 12:54 PM

Just there today for lunch after a morning of golf. Chicken and shrimp quesadillas, burgers and pizza were good. Also had a very pregnant and wonderful waitress.

ilovetv 06-22-2013 01:04 PM

Good to hear these latest reports. We live nearby and would go there a lot if it were consistently good food and drink available.

784caroline 06-22-2013 02:50 PM

Went to the Havana Bar today after golf for a beer.....believe it or not there was no AC available inside. They said TV had to fix teh problem and all they had was one fan running. Man was it hot/ humid inside...outside nice breeze!

Yes, the problem they had needs to be fixed by the Villages.

We have eaten there at least a couple of times and have always had very good food. The last time we were there the server made a couple of mistakes but we all joked with her about it and had a great time. We don't get all worked up about little things and we have all made mistakes. We will be back, for sure.

Had the same waitress Saturday, she did a great job and the food was very good.
