Are you kidding me !! Another thread trying to destroy Havana. Such a shame !

Repeat Violations!

The worst part of the report is the repeated violations. It appears management has not taken effective action to address the past citations.

skip0358 06-23-2013 02:24 PM

If management hadn't taken action the health department would have shut him down. The days he was closed were due to plumbing issues, a broken pipe and a leak. He's open again and although I haven't been there several people on here have report good or better food. So maybe he's on the mend. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I'd love to see it work I could walk home IF I had to.

tucson 06-23-2013 02:29 PM

I wish I had known about the dirty kitchen of the restuarant that I got Salmonella from!! Keep those reviews of good & BAD coming :-)

geobar 06-23-2013 02:33 PM

Been back to Havana C. C. 2 times since it has re opened.
No problem what so ever.
Was almost 1/2 full last evening about 7:00 PM when we left
And that was without any music.

It is a shame as it is still the best bar in The Villages. No noise like all the others from the flat ceilings which bounce the sound of Mrs Cakkle. LOL
And the decor is far from the others which are plain.
Support Havana C C. by going there and it will stay the BEST in T. V.

Go by :gc: or by car.

Here's a link to look up the inspection reports on any restaurant in Florida
Most of the Villages restaurants pass the inspections on a regular basis.

Bonny, I don't think any one of us is trying to destroy Havana. They are destroying themselves! The OP is stating the violations the restaurant incurred and that they had poor service. I, for one, want to know if there are roaches and other major infractions on a restaurant. I base where I eat out on their kitchen inspections. Unfortunately, I have not seen a list of local restaurants that have been inspected. There is no need to cover up poor service, poor food and unsanitary conditions just to save a facility. They need to clean up their act or suffer the consequences. We Villagers deserve more than that!

Oh believe me, I understand all that. I don't have a problem if someone finds something out or knows something to give people a heads up.
It just that there are now 3 threads all running at the same time saying the exact same thing about Havana.

gomoho 06-23-2013 03:24 PM

I guess we're all venting.

Challenger 06-23-2013 04:10 PM

In Maryland they published the Health Dept rpts every 30 days in local newapapers. I've seen some there that I thought were bad , but never anything quite like the June report on Havana. I'm shocked that they were allowed to remain open.

As for me , I won't be back until there are several less daming reports

missypie 06-23-2013 04:11 PM

We own a food business, not in TV. We clean and sanitize over and over. It never stops. Our crew must do the same or they are out. Although we have professionals come and deep clean, mess comes about constantly. It must be dealt with ASAP. Is this easy? Heck No! Do we run a clean and safe business? You bet!

DougB 06-23-2013 04:15 PM

We ate at Havana last night and enjoyed it. Food was good, staff very nice.

Roaddog53 06-23-2013 04:29 PM

We have owned businesses too and it was never ending. We constantly did our own inspections and also had each employe assigned tasks that were checked. If an owner really cares and believes would they want to patronize a business that was poorly maintained, it is easier.
However, what I don't see is any other reviews and posts of the restaurants/country clubs here. Pretty sure they are all not perfect. Perhaps a comparison, rating of them on a scale of most violations. I believe that is out there somewhere. Or Is it a vendetta against Havana?? Just keeping an open mind.

Bonny 06-23-2013 04:39 PM

There are inspections of many restaurants in and around the Villages that have had issues. They never get put on here. I believe only Havana does. Don't recall seeing any others.

buckscounty 06-23-2013 05:27 PM

Worst food and service in Villages.

most restaurant inspections don't look much different <sigh>

Challenger 06-23-2013 06:47 PM

Perhaps the POA could publish the Health Dept reports on restaurants and other food service providers ie Schools ,convenience stores etc monthly or quarterly. The food service providers hate it, but it would provide a valuable public service.

Roaddog53 06-23-2013 07:12 PM

Point made here. It is a common theme among most restaurants. However, again it appears there are some that have been wronged by Havana in some way and they want to retaliate? I am not saying it is possible they have poor service and food, but so do many others. We went to Red Sauce and had the worse service we have had in years. We never did get our food since they took so long and than got the order wrong.
I like the idea of rating restaurants in food quality and service. Somewhere out here is an app that does that, but probably biased too.

Maybe, you should just read one of the threads, and then you would not be so upset? I myself, choose the threads I read, especially when the thread gets lots of looks.

Thanks, I looked Havana up on this site and it said that all is well with them now. That is what is important.

ALL THIS BEGS THE QUESTION.....Why only warnings on repeat violations?

kaydee 06-23-2013 10:18 PM

All I need to read is the roach problem and I am done. No excuse for that situation. Disgusting!

cquick 06-24-2013 10:31 AM

Seems to me that most restaurants might have some violations, too.

I agree, The only problem I have, is after you get a violation, you would think you would fix it for the next time they show up?
