Where did you eat this week that was really good?

Instead of bad , let's try a running thread on the good experiences. Nothing older than one week.

To start four of us ate at Bonifay Saturday night and although it was busy the service was very good after being seated and the food (3 tilapia specials and 1 fish and chips were all hot and tasty).

I'd rather hear a place to go than one to avoid.

Keep in mind all restaurants drop the ball occasionally, but this might tell people good things to order.

If your waitperson is great give them a shout too.

:mmmm::mmmm::mmmm:

Sonny's at LSL! Great ribs with great sides of BBQ beans and corn on the cob. Yum!

raynan 06-24-2013 05:04 PM

Oak Wood on 441. June special....full rack of ribs with 2 sides for $10.99...Sundays thru Wednesdays. Yummy!

travelguy 06-24-2013 05:13 PM

China Gourmet III at the Colony Plaza. Consistently good quality, hot and fresh, priced ridiculously low, and prepared so quickly. Where can 2 adults eat for less than $15.00 & usually less than $10.00?

delima2000 06-24-2013 05:19 PM

Mom and dads in lady lake. Great pasta and love the broccoli soup. Service was great.

First Watch off of 441, near the hospital. Went for lunch. Excellent service with a smile and the food was super!

I second the "yummy"! We had the rib special tonight and it was great as usual.

The Mexican restaurant in Colony Plaza - name escapes me - great chicken chimichanga, chips and salsa and cold beer. Prices and service outstanding.

Campbell's.

Rita's Oyster Bar and Grill - Cute little restaurant on 301 in the "save alot" shopping center. (take 466A to RT301 take a left and shopping center is on your left)

Open for lunch and dinner!

I had an ice cold beer and the raw oysters - Fresh CLEAN and tasty! They have Maine Lobsters on Friday and Sat nites 4PM and on... the Lobsters are about 1/14 lb, steamed and comes with potato and veg (just ok - French fries need to be crispier, so order them that way). Sweetbay charges $14.99 a lb for a lobster so at $15.99 for the dinner this is a good deal!

Fried oysters, Fried shrimp - peel and eat shrimp - fried or broiled fish - steamed clams - crab legs - WINGS - chicken, steak, and/or shrimp kabobs, frog legs, grilled chicken and ....GATOR!

If you get a chance, give it a try - Not 5 star restaurant, but clean, pretty good food and priced well.
There is a restaurant next door (Athena?? i think?) looks like a greek place, but I would give that a shot too....

Wife and I woke up this morning and said we didn't feel like cooking breakfast and doing dishes so we jumped on the motorcycle and rode to Bushnell to Jenny's, formally Herb and Pegs. My wife likes the down home places where people come in and the staff knows everyone. We had a great breakfast for a total of $11.00. Had a beautiful ride home around Lake Panosoffee.
It doesn't get any better than that ! Round trip to Bushnell about an hour.

I had lunch on Saturday at Katie Bells... Chicken Jerk salad was great.. Entertainment was awesome....

villages07 06-24-2013 07:59 PM

We had company, so more dining out than normal...

RJ Gators...we all had dinner salads..all good and tasty ....we were saving room for the Gator Tail dessert that our guest has been craving for two years. Food and service were good. We were surprised that gator tail is all vanilla ice cream rather than praline. It still got consumed....almost all of it.

Outback...always tasty including the bloomin onion.

Oasis Grill at Lopez...sweet burger salad...yumm.

Back to small rations and home cooking....

Shrimp Roll at Panera. Lots of shrimp and big chunks of avocado.

Sunday night we went to Peachwave Frozen Yogurt on Colony Blvd. I was pleasantly surprised by the prices. Very, very reasonable prices and good yogurt. We plan on giving them more of our business.

Just did a big review on Burke's BBQ on 466a - Delicious Southern Cooking and Ribs to die for.. the smoked chicken looked great too. Far superior to anything Oakwood or Sonny's can produce... and a lovely, local family...

Villageshooter 06-25-2013 08:37 PM

Happinow 06-25-2013 08:39 PM

McDonald's??

I know this sounds silly, but when hubby and I were running some errands today we got hungry. Didn't want to waste a lot of time so we decided to stop at McDonald's. We are not fast food people and haven't had McDonalds in years. Hubby had a fish filet and I wanted something light so I tried their new wraps. I had a grilled chicken wrap with a bit of ranch dressing. It had grilled chicken, cucumbers, lettuce, tomato and a bit of cheese. It was also huge! I was expecting a small wrap but when this one came out I thought I would never finish it. Guess what? I did! It was worth the 3.79 price for this wrap. Now, I wouldn't make this a weekly choice, but in a pinch I would order the same wrap again. I posted this because I was surprised at how good it was and was healthier than a Burger.

Sunday brunch at Harbor Hills Country Club. Not the very fanciest or high-priced of brunches, but good food and a beautiful view overlooking Lake Griffin. The piano player plays soft music in the background and the mimosas/champagne are $4, including refills. I had the made-to-order crepes flambé with fresh peaches. Yum!

Newbeginnings 06-26-2013 07:59 AM

The mussels at Red sauce, dilish..

I was traveling this week and was in Colorado Springs. Went up the Ute pass to a very small town, Green Mountain Falls and ate at the Black Bear Restaurant. I will go back. You order by the number of courses you want only. 5, 7, 9, or 12. I did the 7. No idea what the chef will serve. This little log cabin place in the middle of no where has won 4 and 5 stars every year for 9 years.

I had a 1. watermelon and lime soup with agave cream, 2. a walnut and goat cheese salad with spinach and a poached egg cooked 8 hours at 140 degrees, 3. creamed grits with alligator bratwurst, 4. Cajan style shrimp and dirty rice, 5. pasta with fresh vegetables and a 5 cheese sauce 6. a very small strip steak over garlic potatoes with a lamb meatloaf, 7. passion fruit panna cotta with fresh berries and a chocolate tart with hazel nut sauce.

Everything was outstanding and cooked perfectly. For $5 a course you can add a wine pairing. If your ever in this area, go out of your way to find this treasure of a dining experience.
