What do you think Kate and Will will name their new baby?
I can't help it, I am a royal watcher and enjoy this young couple who are awaiting their first and of course we know this baby will be no more a prince or princess than any of ours or our grandchildren to be sure. But it is kinda fun to look forward to a royal baby.
I am thinking that if it is a girl they may honor Princess Diana by incorporating her name somehow in the baby's name. Usually the royal heir has a BUNCH of names, I am thinking maybe all of those names are there so as to not hurt any family member by leaving them out. Just for the fun of it...or seriously, what do you think this little one might be called? |
How about "Lucky"
|
If a boy maybe William Robert James Richard the III or for short, Billy Bob Jimmy Dick.
If a girl. Diana Annebell Elizabeth Abagail and for short it would be Di Ann Liz Gail. |
I think Gracie is right...somehow Princess Diana's name will be incorporated if the baby is a girl. Other than that, I have no idea about the baby's name. This baby will be number 3 in line to the throne.
Wonder if William and Kate know how to change diapers...not that they will have to, but I can see both of them changing diapers, which are referred to as nappies in the UK. |
Kate let it slip that her baby is a girl.
Seems like the British Royals have three middle names. |
It was rumored that the royal heir would be called "Up" when Princess Diana and Prince Charles were first expecting some years ago.
That would have made the family "Up, Chuck and Di".:pepper2: I am sorry. I couldn't help myself. Did I just set up my own joke? Boy Howdy. |
It would be nice if they would include Diana's name, but I doubt they will.
I think Bubba for a boy and Lacee Tiffanee for a girl. Too bad North West is already taken. |
If it's a boy - Gunther
If it's a girl - Gwendolyn I'm not putting money on this. |
i don't think first name will be diana
|
Princess
|
I'm betting Diana will be in the name somehow, but not as the first name. We should know very soon!

One name you can cross OFF the list...Camilla

I think possibly the baby girl's name will honor Diana, as Will was very close to his mother. Possibly Elizabeth, in honor of the Queen Mother who died in 2002 at the age of 101. Possibly Victoria .... (In Canada we still have a long weekend at the end of May called Victoria Day which was named in honor of Queen Victoria). |

I might be mistaken, but I thought I read someplace earlier in the year that they would not name the baby Diana???? Not sure on that. I also just heard the other day that they do not know the sex of the child and yet I just read (elsewhere) that now they do know. Who knows????? I'm sure it will be a much loved little one.......and very lucky indeed. Here is what is posted on CNN: Kate Middleton still doesn't know whether she's having a boy or girl, but bookies are already betting on names "Alexandra" and "George." Expectant royals Kate Middleton and Prince William will likely soon be choosing their baby's name and they will likely be more conservative than Kim Kardashian and Kanye West who named their baby girl North West. While William and Kate do not yet know the sex of their unborn child — who isn't due until July 11 — bookies are already betting on the heir to the throne's name. "Bookies William Hill say their punters are expecting Kate’s first child to be female," reports The Week. "As for names, Alexandra and Elizabeth are the favourites for a girl while George and James are favourites for a boy." CNN royal contributor Victoria Arbiter says royals choose "dynastic names; names with a sense of history" that will provide the "elements of continuity that the survival of the monarchy depends on." Arbiter predicts "Alexandra Elizabeth Frances Mary for a girl and George Philip Arthur Charles for a boy." http://l.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/VLF...-jubilee-4.jpg (I think Alexandra is very pretty. I also thought they might name the baby Philip after William's grandfather). |
Why not Victoria?
|
Diana Elizabeth Victoria maybe. I'm ruling out Buffy!

No, the Queen Mother was elizabeth, same as the Queen
|
I think they should name her Bob.
|
I think the baby will be a girl, and they will name her Elizabeth Diana or Diana Elizabth.
No idea if it's a boy. |

It was her mother in law who was named Mary. Again, thank you. She was queen consort of the United Kingdom from her husband's accession in 1936 until his death in 1952, after which she was known as Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother,[2] to avoid confusion with her daughter, another Queen Elizabeth. She was the last Empress of India. Born into a family of British nobility as The Honourable Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, she became Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon when her father inherited the Scottish Earldom of Strathmore and Kinghorne in 1904. She came to prominence in 1923 when she married Albert, Duke of York, the second son of King George V and Queen Mary. The couple and their daughters, Elizabeth and Margaret, embodied traditional ideas of family and public service.[3] She undertook a variety of public engagements, and became known as the "Smiling Duchess" because of her consistent public expression.[4] In 1936, her husband unexpectedly became king when his brother, Edward VIII, abdicated in order to marry the American divorcée Wallis Simpson. As queen, she accompanied her husband on diplomatic tours to France and North America before the start of World War II. During the war, her seemingly indomitable spirit provided moral support to the British public. In recognition of her role as an asset to British interests, Adolf Hitler described her as "the most dangerous woman in Europe".[5] After the war, her husband's health deteriorated and she was widowed at the age of 51. On the death of her mother-in-law Queen Mary in 1953, with her brother-in-law living abroad and her elder daughter, the Queen, aged 27, Elizabeth became the senior member of the British Royal Family and assumed a position as family matriarch. In her later years, she was a consistently popular member of the family, even when other members were suffering from low levels of public approval.[6] She continued an active public life until just a few months before her death at the age of 101, seven weeks after the death of her younger daughter, Princess Margaret. |
baby names
I was lucky enough to meet the 'Queen Mum' about 32 or 33 years ago. Such a lovely lady.
She was in the Royal Box at Earls Court in London and I was seated in the box next to that one. My oldest was 4 years old at the time, he looked at her, and asked, are you the Queens Mummy? She came to him and said, yes I am, and is this your mummy? Such a nice thing to do for such a small boy! He is nearly 37 now! And still remembers that day! |

She was lovely, apparently inside and out, to take the time for a 4 year old child.....as she did. |
It has been said that Will & Kate do not want to encumber their daughter, when they have one, with a first name of Diana. The press attention and comparisons would be too much. But it would be lovely to have a Queen Diana at last. Failing that, Victoria Elizabeth Diana Catherine gets my vote.
For a boy, James Philip William Charles. Will know soon! |
What is it that makes watching the "Royals" so interesting? I'm not sure, but I have always loved it. Maybe because it is as close to a fairy tale as it can get!

We ordinary people probably have a much more comfortable life but the royals appear to live in a goldfish bowl with a lot of dignity. I am such a fan of Kate and Will! |
