Out with Comcasst! Finially

We decided to go with Century Link--Had enough of rude people when you call Comcast to see why they keep raising their rates--
Question does anyone know where the Comcast location is here in the Villages is so we can drop off their equipment?

I love Comcast, anytime I have to talk to a stupid person (everytime I call) I make them pay me $10.

We tried to return our equipment a the Comcast office on 27/441 near St John's Seafood. There was a line way out the door. We drove to the leasburg office. Much nicer and just a short wait with chairs to sit on.

skip0358 07-05-2013 12:05 PM

It's up on 441 I believe it's the Publix Shopping Center past the Hospital. Bring your lunch. Good luck with Century Link If u thought Comcast was bad beware.

sorry for all of your troubles with Comcast and Century Link. Do yourself a favor and get Brighthouse. We are very pleased with them.. Very good customer service!

delima2000 07-05-2013 12:18 PM

I wish we could get brighthouse. Can't get it only available in the newer sections of the villages. Have called them but no luck in getting it here.

Patty55 Your a trip find your responses so entertaining, creative and funny. Thank you for all the laughs

DianeM 07-05-2013 01:53 PM

Try Brighthouse when you're done with CenturyLink. You'll be happier.

rubicon 07-05-2013 01:57 PM

To the OP

I have never found a Comcast employee who was rude or disrespectful. quite the contrary I have found most very helpful and quick to respond.

In that same vein I can also say the same about Century Link. However we switched to Comcast because we found their products to be quality and offering us more.

Brighthouse is limited in TV. Remember however that Brighthouse is no longer TimeWarner. We had TimeWarner's (Road runner) up in Minnesota and it was an outstanding product.

I opine others can decide

It's not far.

Comcast - Leesburg
8130 Cr 44 Leg-a, Leesburg FL 34788
Phone Number:(352) 787-7875

I'd call for directions

We got rid of Comcast for our TV. Went with Dish
Use Vonage for phone
Still use Comcast for computer

Birdie Dreamer 07-05-2013 02:25 PM

The Leesburg office is near the airport and Babbette's furniture. Stay on 441 south and make a left on CR 44 Leg-a just before Babbette's. Office is on the left. From their parking lot you can look straight down the runway at the airport.

One tip. Web site says they are open on Monday's. They are not.

vj1213 07-05-2013 02:47 PM

I went to the Leesburg store on Mon. they were closed. So I went back on Tues, there were 22 people in front of me. There were 3 employees. Another came back from break and a lady walked up to ask a question. Well, a man starts saying she is cutting in line. She went back to her seat and across the room they start screaming at each other (she was black and he was hispanic). They were cussing and calling each other names, finally I stood up and said I'll come back later. I was just returning a modem and wanted a receipt. So I thought I will just take my chance and drop it in the return box...they must not check it very regularly because it was so full the door wouldn't open...and it also had trash in it. So I went back in...looked at everyone and said I'm not cutting lines I just need to drop this off. The lady said just put it on the counter, so I hope I get credit. I have called 2 times and told them time and place that I dropped it. It was crazy in there.

Patty55 07-05-2013 03:23 PM

You can mail it back and if you know how to hock they will pay the shipping.

Call Comcast and ask for prepaid return boxes be sent you. You will get it/ them with priority delivery. Put your stuff in the supplied box and send it back. No waiting in line......they may not acknowledge they have a problem at the stores but they do respond well with this alternative.

I meant nothing derogatory by this...most of my relatives are hispanic. They were the ones slinging the racial slurs across the room...I chose to remove myself from the situation.

Parker 07-06-2013 05:59 AM

We've had Comcast for eight years here in TV. Bundled with phone, internet, and television. Never had a problem of any sort. Quite satisfied. Always spoken with polite helpful people whenever I called them.

I concur with both posts above. Comcast has always been responsive and resolved our issues in an acceptable manner. The only problem we had was on initial installation where they messed up the scheduled visit. However, they did resolve the problem by having one of the installers work overtime to get the job done. Got a credit for the inconvenience too!

Comcast customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with! I spent 4 hours on the phone and chat with Comcast yesterday. My problem is slow internet. We can't stream movies or video. Our download speed tested less than 1 mbps. I am paying for 10 mbps service. I kept getting transferred from one person to another with a long wait between each one. After talking to several Comcast tech people, I have come to the conclusion that if you can't fix it by recycling your modem, they cannot help you. I am waiting for them to call back and schedule a service call. My wife said not to hold my breath. It was an incredibly frustrating and pointless experience. There is no other business I can think of that has such convoluted and worthless customer service. I will most likely switch to Century Link.

We have Comcast internet and purchased the fasted speed money can by because of sending graphics. We pay approx. $65 / mo. for internet alone, but do not have any speed problems at all with internet.

You will find the internet speed slows down at times when more people are using it. If you run a speed test in the middle of th night it will be faster.

Let me know how you like Century Link. I will be glad to give you credit for the referral.

Shimpy 07-06-2013 04:07 PM

I did the same thing as you, but now have gone back to Comcast. Century Link was a pita with the picture freezing all the time and requiring me to reset everything. The big thing with us who uses free movies on demand was Comcast has probably over 80 choices and Century Link had 9 choices.

John_W 07-06-2013 04:08 PM

I've had Century Link for home phone and internet since we moved here two years ago this month. I had some problems initially but they resolved to my benefit. I went to their walk-in office in front of Best Buy near Arby's and set up installation.

In Maryland I had Verizon home phone with no long distance for only $21 a month with tax and 768mbps internet for $15.00 a month with tax guaranteed for life at that price. Century Link had nothing that could match those prices. I got home phone with unlimited long distance with Caller ID (they said no long distance wouldn't save that much) plus internet with 2.5mpbs speed for $59.99 a month, with tax it's always $75.

At the walk-in office they said my initial bill would be about $100 with installation. When my first bill arrived it was $204. I called customer service, they said they couldn't do anything about that but would transfer my call to someone who could in Charlotte, NC. Once I spoke to a rep in Charlotte he knocked a $100 off the bill, that made it $104 and raised my internet speed to 10mpbs for no charge.

The service has been great, the internet is called 'to the curb', I have no modem (I plug my router directly into the wall jack) and have almost never had an outage. We did get telemarketing calls every month for their Prism TV, and everytime I told Century Link I wasn't interested, I have Directv. After about the fourth month of receiving such a Prism call, I said you guys should give me call block for my home phone, because I get a lot of unwanted calls. So they added 'Call Block' to my home phone for free and said they wouldn't call again about Prism TV.

Before you switch, let me tell you about the last experience we had with Comcast.

We were having a problem with our phone and internet connection not working. We tried all the things they told us to do by phone. So an appointment was setup for home service.

When the service guy arrived he checked and the equipment was working ok. The upon checking a little further on our signal strength and found out that the signal was very poor. It turned out to be because we had two bad splitters, one near the modem and the other in the outside cable utility box, and he also found one of the cables between the wall outlet and the modem needed replacement. He replaced them and all was fine thereafter.

I suggest you try calling and set up an appointment for them to check out your splitters and cables to see if that is why you're having a problem. Good luck!
