Costs to Add a Golf Cart Garage
 

We have rented a place here while we look to buy our new place in TV, but am interested in a home with a golf carat garage. We would consider buying a home with a standard 2 car set up and adding it afterwards (recognizing lot sizes required and set backs, etc) but have no idea what one might cost. Anyone have any info on the cost to add a golf cart garage to an existing home -- just need a ROM or WAG at this stage of the search.

If you're in the looking stage why not just buy a house with a cart garage? Seems like ours cost around 10 grand three years ago.

Our neighbors paid a bit over $20,000 for their addition, but the build involved some repositioning of gas and electric lines. Size, roofline, door design, wood framed , concrete block or solid concrete wall all play a part in determining the cost.

10K is a good ball park, if you shop wisely.

Also get a good architect (U will need one), they can recommend contractors.

We own a cement block/ stucco designer and gotten prices from 3 contractors.

$19,257.00 to $22,350.00. Quite a range quoted for the exact same plans.

One wanted 50% up front, one wanted 4 equal payments, and one wanted phase payments as each phase is completed.

How many sq ft was it?

If it was 10x20 200 sq that's $100 a sq


But just because U have a block house doesn't mean U can add a frame golf cart garage, right?

10x22. Big enough for 2 carts front to back. It would be block/stucco to match the home exterior with a 6' garage door. It could be frame built with stucco finish, but we prefer block.

$100 per square is short money...grab it

I would just like to mention that not all lots will accomidate a golf cart garage. The lot has to be wider than 60" if the house does not already have one included in the plans, i.e. Iris and Begonia. If the garage is 10 feet wide it will add at least 12 more feet to your width. A pie shaped lot might accomidate this but many would not.

Thanks everyone -- that was just the kind of info I needed. I would love to find one already built, but the last three that have come on the market had contracts for the sale the first day on the market. Seems like everyone wants that extra garage these days so we are trying to work faster. Appreciate the help.

Do all the districts have the same setbacks?

Additional thoughts came up -- what sort of architectural committee is there in TV that has to approve the addition? How do I contact them as it may be a contingency in the contract to buy. Anyone have an idea as to how long they might take to get you an answer? Thanks for any info you all can provide!

It's a one man committee, file plans with proof of deed, opps that will not work.

U need to have the current owner do it, in by Thur answer by Tuesday + or -,

But U really just need to look at the site plan and setbacks, the max building lines R right there.

U don't need ARC for that.

Has anyone added a golfcart garage to a Gardenia in the outside space that is near to the breakfast nook (this would essentially convert a gardenia into a begonia) -- is this possible and is it prohibitively costly???

I am not sure that I made myself clear on this post -- I am thinking of enclosing the space near the breakfast nook (on the Gardenia Model) to make a Golf Cart Garage in that Space (like the Begonia Model exhibits) just wondering if this has been done after construction is completed -- any input would be appreciated -- my house is almost 4 years old

The smart thing to do is buy a house with a golf cart garage! You will miss it if you don't have it. By the way do you still have your Vette?

There are many, many homes for sale here. You would save yourself a lot of work/headaches by just buying a home with a golf cart garage.
