What are these plants?
 

On Bailey trail between the two crossings of St Charles there are 6 or 7 of these huge bushes on the west side. They are green with yellow edges and look like they have sharp edge. They sort of look like the sword plant or aloe vera I know from the north but these are curved in a sort of bowl shape. They are not century plants or agaves. They are really striking, and I would love to know what they are. Please if you can identify them from my description, let me know.

I love those plants and plan on getting one when I find out where to get them. I like that they are unique and not everybody has one in their yard. I tried to find out the name by googling the description, but got nowhere.

Rosygail, if anything has a sharp edge, think twice about getting it. My arms were always bloody after weeding the bed. the weeds always grew right in the middle of the plant. It's like falling in love with a physically beautiful person only to find, with time, they can hurt you. Then they don't seem as beautiful.

Bushes with sharp edges, are good to plant near windows!!! Makes thieves think twice.

sounds like an agave; there are two common ones here.....bluish green solid color, and onces with a cream/yellow edge that are more curvy.

Would someone please post a picture or two so the rest of us on TOTV know what you are talking about?

They are Agave Americana!

I'd gladly drive over there & snap a pic or two, but I'm not exactly in the "neighborhood".

The OP says they are not agaves, but they must be something similar. Surely TV wouldn't plant pandanus (screwpine), since they wouldn't be winter hardy there.

If they look like this, they are just as rosygail stated.....agave Americanus.

We were driving north on 301 today, between 442 and 466, and on the right-hand side there is a landscape place, right before 110th St., that has at least one along their fence paralleling 301. The place is called Landscape (something).

I went past them today and they are indeed Agave. They are very expensive. The size plant which you see there are probably $300.00 or more dollars. I agree they are magnificent but you are not likely to see them in my yard. I wish the neighbors would plant them! :0000000000luvmyhors

I've seen many around the neighborhood and they seem to have "babies" all around them. Thy have shallow roots and you can easily transplant the "babies". Most people are delighted to share!

The other name for them is Century Plant. We found them at Exterior Spaces on Hwy 301 N in Oxford.
