Channel 9 is reporting it may have been an explosion at the Blue Rhino Propane company in Tavares.
The have received many calls..................

Massive propane tank explosions still going on since 10:54.

I am in Bridgeport Lake Sumter..right on the lake. Looking over towards Fruitland Park it is all reddish yellow in the sky.

I looked at the clock when the first one went off. It was 10:54.

god bless our emergency responders! they are working their tails off tonite! and bless the injured treated near the scene and airlifted by the 3 helicopters.

I wonder if someone started this fire? It said on Television that several truck trailers full of those cannisters we all use for barbecue grills went up in flames causing all of those propane tanks to explode.

On July 9th, a couple of weeks ago, six buses were set afire by an arsonist in Leesburg.

It is a miracle that there was no loss of life in this series of explosions.

Interesting question to ponder, Gracie. Still wondering the same thing about the Louisiana chemical plant fire and the West, Texas fertilizer plant explosion. Home grown terrorists testing responses? Trying to stress the response system?

Just saw a headline on MSNBC that said "human and equipment error to blame for explosion".

I just read that one of the large tanks is now leaking.

I saw the story on the propane explosion on the news in Atlanta this morning. I wondered if it could be heard or seen in The Villages. Didn't know how far Tavares was.

Tavares is probably about 25 driving miles. As the crow flies? Not sure.

Maybe 15 crow flying miles due east of Brownwood.
