good porterhouse steak

Not being a meat eater, I have no idea where to take our son this Sunday for a good steak. It's his birthday and his tradition is to have a porterhouse for his dinner. Thanks

Vic Embers down 441 south

Thanks, Vic, my husband is from Millbury just outside Wistah and we are both members of Red Sox Nation! As is the birthday boy..

Longhorn Steakhouse and Outback are good, for chains. I have never had a steak at Lopez but would be quite willing to take the gamble.

FloridaShrimp 08-02-2013 04:11 PM

Whoops, You are not Vic- it's Vic Embers. Sorry

Just checked Lopez menu and they don't offer a porterhouse but some other tasty options. http://legacyrestaurant.com/images/dinner-menu.pdf

If money is not critical, you might try Jeffrey Paul's Chop House in Leesburg. It's supposed to be the best in the area.

If money is no object I stay away from JPs. Marks Prime Steakhouse on the square in Ocala is in the class of the top steakhouse chains like Morton's or Ruth's Chris

We vote for Vic Embers---been there several times for special occasions. Take US 441 and it's on the right side before you get to the Leesburg Airport. They serve great steaks but don't know for sure about the one you want. You can get a reservation at Vic's so I would call and ask about a Porterhouse steak. Hope you have a great time on your Son's birthday!

if money is really not an issue then I suggest Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa.

Bern's Steakhouse cannot be beat by anyone. Very pricey, but extremely good!

There's one in Milennia Mall, too--between Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Chang, right by the valet parking, which we're too poor to use...

Very easy to find. Go to The Villages Gourmet Club's website Search Page, enter the word "porterhouse" in Option 4b for Restaurant Descriptions and it came back with over 30 restaurants that serve Porterhouse Steaks, some right here inside The Villages. Amazing! I love this site!

We enjoy Ruth Chris Steakhouse which is located in Dr. Phillips, Orlando. Again pricey, but you get what you pay for like most fine restaurants.

We just came home from having supper at Vic's Embers in Leesburg. Today is DH's birthday and his favorite has always been porterhouse. It is not on the menu, but ask your wait person...they do have them. Birthday boy surprised me by not ordering porterhouse, but a filet. Well, it's his birthday. Two dinners, 1 cocktail for $64.00. Not too bad for a special occasion, and they gave us dessert and his had a candle on it.
