Brownwood progress

I'm coming down the end of August for a week and am wondering what's new at Brownwood. Any restaurants open since May? Can't wait to see the progress. :a040:

No not anymore overpriced restaurants Have open but there will be I take my dollars outside of the villages better quality, people appreciate the business You get better quality food for your dollar you're not helping subsidized outrageous prices for the rental of the coveted piece of ground that the restaurant sets on,

MikeV 08-14-2013 05:31 PM

Still only the one and the hot dog truck is still there.

vj1213 08-14-2013 05:53 PM

Overpriced is a relative and subjective term. There are several off the campus dining establishments that are less expensive than those within TV, however, that does not mean those offsite locations are optimally priced.

Real Buzzkill for sure....everything is relative...it is not just about price, location or food, it is about atmosphere and people too...I enjoy restaurants in or right near the villages because of those extras.

Hey Shooter, you might try McDonald's here in TV, they still have their dollar menu! Actually, their coffee is very good and cheap. :coolsmiley:

If you go inside the McDonald's you can get the "senior priced" coffee for 55 cents with unlimited refills. I hear some cheapos even take their coffee cups from previous days and get refills.

I'll be at World of beer meeting, talking to my TV neighbors. That's what I'm looking forward to! If you show up I may even buy you all a beer (all meaning up to four people) :)

The people that do that have never owned their own business and don't give a hoot about yours

I am a new "part-time" homeowner and wondering if you would mind telling me if there is anything you like about the Villages. I've read your last 10-15 posts and all are very negative. While I am not doubting my decision in the least to buy at TV, I seriously do wonder why you (and anyone who seems to despise it so much) would stay?

This is a serious question, as I cannot imagine being so unhappy with where I live.

Thanks.

e-flyer 08-14-2013 09:16 PM

Agree, if we don't support our retail folks at the Town Squares, you will end up with a lot of empty shops, and then what would happen to the entertainment everyone loves so much....

RickG, not sure it they were open in May, but City Fire is open.

I absolutely love this place! I can not wait to see more businesses come to The Villages. This attracted me to buy here! I choose to spend my money on the property to support the business owners. Why would I want to take my business elsewhere? I wouldn't know how much cheaper it is elsewhere, because I don't like to leave when I am here!!!!!!
I live here and on the east coast of FL, so I am part time as well.

asianthree 08-15-2013 08:57 AM

Hey count me in on the cheapos train, I have never tried this but I think I will now. Good idea. Save a dollar here save a dollar there pretty soon you are talking about a lot of money.

There is absolutely no problem with looking for specials, bargains and using coupons to dine out, especially if you are on a limited budget. But I for one consider it unethical and even probably stealing from the restaurant if you keep a refill cup for other days to "save a buck". I disagree with that as it causes all of the other honest folks to have to pay more, just like with shoplifting and fraud....it is not right IMHO.

LOL. You will find a few that missrepresent this lovey place, but the other 99,000+ are happy.

A Five Guys is coming. Look at The Villages . Com.
There is a list of coming restaurants.
We will be in Collier in late Sept and early October. Brownwood is growing fast!
Pity there are so many complainers. They should move to where all the other unhappy people are.

thanks for the list...

jimbo2012 08-16-2013 06:30 AM

They are going to rent the stores at a slow pace since they are asking around $30 a foot, not cheap rent, a retailer can go on 441 with more traffic for that or less.

Any retailer or restaurant needs to operate at a loss for several months with the small amount of traffic.

That's why you don't see major or national chains much, their bean counters say no.
