RATS and Health DepClose TOWN BISTRO RESTRUANT

Has any one heard about the fact that the Bistro Restrant down town was over run by RATS to the point that the
Health Deptpartment closed it down. My information came from a manager of the place ...but I notice that it has reopened very quickly. Does any one know anything about this situation. I do not see how you can get rid of a RAT infestion in a day or two???....
What have you heard???

This rumor doesn't sound very factual, does it?

Is the "TALK HOST" going to be judge and jury on all items submitted to this forum??? This "rumor" came from and employee who quit working there because they were afraid of the RATS of which they said were of a great number in the kitchen. "RUMORS" good and bad (including glowing restaurant recommendation's) can only be judged by their source. tomahawk

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know that you didn't want anybody to comment. I didn't know that a comment was being judge and jury. I'll remember that for the next time.

I can't imagine a manager divulging that information even it it happens to be true. He could have said that they had unwanted dinner guests.

Re: RATS and Health DepClose TOWN BISTRO RESTRUANT

If I was a frequent customer of the Bistro I would probably call the health department before jumping to conclusions ::)

PS: was that an ex-manager or soon to be an ex-manager? ???

There was some skepticism regarding the report of infestations. If anyone has questions regarding this, go to the following web page and check it out.

"One dead rodent" is a far cry from "......overrun by RATS."

Re: RATS and Health DepClose TOWN BISTRO RESTRUANT

The state's division of Hotels and Restaurants closed them down. I don't think they hung around to get take an accurate census of the ants and rats.

There was an article on the second page of the reporter that was in my mailbox this week that Kate belles and the Bistro were shut down for a day to clean up the rats. Didn't anyone else read it???

A complete list of the 23 findings of the inspection of The Bistro is available on MyFlorida.com. FACT: NO LIVE rats were found, a single "rodent(dead) was found in the water heater closet.

That's exactly what the story in "The Reporter" said. The person who originally posted this topic has vanished from the forum. Wonder where he went.

Rats & Health Dep....

Rats, I am only afraid of four kinds of rats big ones, little ones alive ones, dead ones. There was a great place in Syracuse New York called Maggie Jordan's. They had the best and biggest veal steaks I ever had tasted. I loved going htere until one night I glanced over and saw a roach climbing the wall. Never again entered there and apparently other people witnessed the same thing because this great eating place closed.

As for Bistro, Katie Bells, etc appear with the volume of customers building, etc resturants in this area may well all have a bigger problem than we are aware. When you see these critters once With all the vegetation in TV hidding places are ample for critters. I cait is a safe bet that many more are around. This is one of the main reasons I skip going out for a meal :22yikes:

Why post to such an old thread......all the rats are dead by now!

Pookirgirl 03-18-2011 09:41 PM

Really....I agree..why post this thread from 2006???? Talk about OLD news!!!

jblum315 03-18-2011 11:04 PM

It's hard to mistake a mouse for a rat.

Bryan 03-19-2011 04:58 AM

Interesting to note that The Reported newspaper article link that was posted to support this story in ALMOST FOUR YEARS OLD!!!!! It was published May 30, 2007. Also interesting that Katie Belles, which was also closed for a day, was not mentioned. Makes me wonder how unbiased this little "alert" really was.

As a person with over 30 years of quality assurance experience in the pharmaceutical industry, I know that when you spot dead vermin, it is evidence of a much larger problem. Both places sounded filthy. A dead rat, rat droppings on the cookware, cockroaches crawling in the kitchen are all indicative of a big problem. Remember, these animals and insects are pretty good at staying hidden. I am guessing that if one were to read the health dept. reports for most restaurants, they would probably list a multitude of sins in even the cleanest restaurants. But inspections that result in the immediate closing of a facility have to be pretty bad. Shame on the management of those facilities. I bet that instituting proper procedures for cleaning would have cost them a lot less than the loss of immediate revenue from the closing and any revenue they may lose going forward from damaged reputation. I am hoping that they react properly (i.e. not make excuses) and make the procedural and personnel changes that are required to run a spotlessly clean facility in the future. It is what is required of them both ethically and legally.

The article was only about 3 days old (6/2/07) not 4 years old as stated, and Katie Belles was mentioned in the article. Makes me wonder how unbiased this far fetched unbiased notion really was! http://www.deviantart.com/download/1...by_Mirz123.gif

That's NOT what I said and I'm not talkn' about time from the present, but rather time from the providing of the article link in '07! The article was published on 5/30/07 and the link being referred to was provided in the posting of 6/2/07. 5/30/07 to 6/2/07 = 3 days, not 4 years as incorrectly stated by the poster quoted. That's what I'm talkn' about! That being said, perhaps I didn't make myself perfectly clear, but the inaccuracy of the information I was responding to was clear enough.

Bogie Shooter 03-19-2011 10:01 PM

May this thread go to sleep for another four years.

Oh my goodness. That is the second time I have done that. I will definitely keep my finger off the "post reply" button until I double check the original post date.
