If you live in Buttonwood please read Train Noise

I am looking for feed back from people that live IN Buttonwood. We are considering a home but one of us is a light sleeper and has a hard time falling asleep. So please be honest. If you had to do it again would you choose a different area? I know many people say they can hear the train quiet a distance away but I really want to know about noise inside homes in Buttonwood. Thanks!

I live in Buttonwood. We live closer to St Charles than at the end. I do hear it occasionally but it never would interrupt my sleep. I am a terrible sleeper but the train never interferes. I really like the sound sice it reminds me of the sound of a train coming across a prairie.

karostay 08-28-2013 12:24 PM

Rumble of a trains wheels sooo soothing...

jblum315 08-28-2013 12:42 PM

I had an old friend who many years ago took a room in a motel (I think they were called motor courts in those days) that was very near the train tracks.Jolted awake in the small hours, he threw his wife out of bed and jumped out after her because he honestly thought the train was coming through their room

I see you live in St. James, do you hear the train inside your home?

GPGuar 08-28-2013 02:06 PM

I live at the end of Buttonwood run, about as close as you can get to the train tracks in Buttonwood. You can here the train at times, but it's a soft sound, didn't wake me up at all.

Bonnevie 08-28-2013 02:52 PM

lived in a dorm once with tracts immediately outside my windows. after a couple of weeks never noticed the train.

Lynn222 08-28-2013 02:58 PM

I also live in Buttonwood almost at the end of Buttonwood Run and I can't hear the train inside. I can hear it outside but it does not interfere with conversation or telephone conversation.

bike42 08-28-2013 03:21 PM

The people in The Villages who are really close to the train tracks are up in the farthest north neighborhood in Marion County. Check the map; the tracks run right next to US Hwy 301. Buttonwood is not very close. The trains do not run very often. Relax, you will sleep just fine; the frogs make more noise than the trains.

Yorio 08-28-2013 05:04 PM

Even in Pennecamp, you can hear the trains but it is a very soothing sound and love it when it happens. Though, guess don't want to be next to the tracks.

PaPaLarry 08-28-2013 05:31 PM

I hear the train a com'n!!!!

This about sums up our experience. We live in Buttonwood, except we are near the beginning of Buttonwood Run. Occasionally we hear the train when outside, off in the distance, but it does not interfere with anything. Like it.

asianthree 08-28-2013 07:39 PM

hear the whistle more than the train

THE NEWCOMER 08-28-2013 08:12 PM

Sound travels!

If this is a concern then you should get a map out and buy a home the farthest from the tracks. I believe you can hear the train though out the Villages. The clearer the night the farther the sound travels. Good Luck!

PattyPan1 08-28-2013 08:47 PM

Live in Buttonwood, and the train can't be heard in the house. Can hear it off in the distance when I am out on the lanai.

Makes we want to hop a freight car. (On bucket list).

I agree w Yorio and everyone else
Train has a soothing sound
We live in buttonwood and yes, we hear the trains ,but not an issue? i would say a neighbor's barking dog would be 100x worse than the train

Thank goodness, we don't have noisy dogs nearby!

It's rollin' round the bend.

I live in Buttonwood also, I agree with everyone else. It is just a distant soothing sound you barely hear indoors. I really don't think it would disturb anyone's sleep. I live off Triggerfish Run...I guess mid-Buttonwood.

JP 08-28-2013 09:54 PM

We live in St. James which is adjacent to Buttonwood.

We can hear the trains on our linia especially at night but just barely hear them inside.

We both like the sounds trains make. We both lived near train tracks when we were young and must have got used to the sounds.

Actually, the train sounds were one of the reasons we picked St. James to build in.

I live in Buttonwood on Dorst Lane and hear the train only when the windows are open; and then it does not disturb me day or night. If you have the opportunity to buy here do it. You will love it. :coolsmiley:

I googled Tropicana train route Wildwood Fl. Below are just a few of the videos that came up. I live near Cane Garden CC and rarely hear them. When Tropicana is running juice up north there is a noticeable more frequency of trains going through Wildwood.

Enjoy the soothing sound!

I don't think the OP meant for this to happen but when a thread has a title that sounds negative about any village, naturally that isn't a good association and sticks in the minds of potential buyers and hurts the pride of the residents. A similar thing happened about Duval when someone said something like "Why are so many homes for sale in Duval, is something wrong?"

We are of course very proud and protective of our home village.

I don't know anything wrong with either Duval or Buttonwood.

It is sad that certain areas smell bad for short times in the summer. I wish that could be remedied.

It seems that all posters agree that Buttonwood does NOT have a problem. I agree too.

2newyorkers 08-29-2013 10:28 AM

We live in Tall Trees and can also hear the train at night. It is actually a very soft and soothing sound.
