The Villages Health Care Center

For those of you who joined the center at Colony, are you happy with it so far? We are thinking of joining it.

Avista 08-29-2013 10:49 AM

We are VERY happy. So many advantages.

Anyone know which doctors are at their limit of 1250 patients?

vlm790 08-29-2013 12:02 PM

We joined several months ago and already had our first appointments. Love it !

Carla B 08-29-2013 12:25 PM

As of three weeks ago, all of the doctors were still available.

Dr Jordahl and Dr Noel are at their limit

jrandall 09-01-2013 09:10 PM

I am very happy. Have been seeing Dr. Hawley since March.

Tinkerbelle 09-01-2013 10:38 PM

Do you have to be a member of United Health Care. Do they take Medicare and different types of supplements.

rhood 09-02-2013 05:37 AM

Would anyone offer any feedback about Dr Masoody? He is moving to the office on Santa Barbara and is a possible choice

I have a solid background as an officer of a successful HMO in Mass....these people are totally disorganized from a member/customer service point of view. I see major problems lurking, caveat emptor.

Interesting - thought it was just me the way everyone loves everything so much, but you are looking at the billing and details and how they are reactive rather than proactive. I think the average Villager (and I mean no disrespect) has medicare, goes in to this lovely facility, is greeted nicely at the door, and has most everything paid for. How is that bad???

dgammon6 09-04-2013 08:46 PM

It's better than anything we have ever had. No billing issues. The patient portal is awesome. Able to email your Doctor with a concern and get a reply. Lab, X-ray, hearing test in the same location. We love it

Tinkerbelle 09-04-2013 10:36 PM

Thank you for the information on Ins. Hope you have a wonderful day in the Village.

wendyquat 09-05-2013 12:24 AM

We've had our meet and greet but no health issues yet so not sure how that will be handled but we are on Medicare and do enjoy the pretty office and ambience! It's so much better than my other experiences with doctors here but only time and experience will tell!

Is it not possible that trying to build something new like this that they may encounter bumps in the road?

Cedwards38 09-05-2013 12:28 PM

I have a house there, but I don't live there yet. How does this work?

Mudder 09-05-2013 05:10 PM

Difficult to explain on this board. When you get here , go to one of the centers or offices, they will give you all info. Or check out villages health care centers on web.

I did have a health issue where I broke out in a rash with mucho itching. They got me in asap and I saw both a PA and a doctor. I was given personal attention for about an hour and 15 minutes by the PA and the doctors consultation.

They determined that what I had was hives and was told it was the worse case of hives they ever saw. It covered a majority of my body from the knees up to the hair line on the back of my head. {Scratch, scratch, itch, itch, oh what a pain it is} I was given a steroid shot, a two week prescription for a steroid medication and taken off Cymbalta which I had just recently started.

The good news is that the hives cleared 100% within the next three days and it hasn't returned even though I resumed the Cymbalta after two weeks cleared of the hives.

I've had a total of 7 or more different appointments and a few consultations via email since joining, we're both satisfied patients of the center and we're highly impressed with all the friendly and helpful staff we've encountered at this center. I hope that this doesn't change in the future, except of course for getting even better!

love it..

I guess this a relatively old post, but I was wondering if the experience of one of my neighbors is an anomally or if others have experienced it as well. She has a primary "Marcus Welby" physician at Colony. However, she has been there three times by appointment and when she showed up has never had her personal physician. There was always some "reason" why her doctor was unavailable.

RVRoadie 10-03-2013 04:12 PM

Not all docs are full time.

But, in her case she had appointments with her doctor. Hence one could assume that the person making the appointment would know the doctor's shedule.

Bizdoc 10-03-2013 10:01 PM

My doc has always shown up for appointments. I have (twice) been offered alternate providers in order to get in faster (as in same day) rather than having to wait a day or two.

One doc at Colony is rumored to have been asked to leave due to patient complaints. And I have heard rumors (but have not confirmed) that 1 doc is part time.

gomoho 10-04-2013 05:56 AM

I had the original doctor that was asked to leave and I was on the complainers. Can't imagine how she ever got hired unless she talked a good game.

Sent you a private message.

In case you haven't been to the Villages Health Care website lately, they recently updated their various pages that show the physicians to include if each doctor is open to new patients or that their dance card is full. I'm providing the link below as an example, but you can access the other centers from that same page on the "Care Centers" drop down menu.

Never had that problem. Always saw my doc. I expect to see someone else if I need an appointment same day I called.

graciegirl 01-03-2014 11:47 AM

You lucky ducks, able to go to these nice centers.

sigh. They won't take our previously very much liked and accepted everywhere Aetna PPI insurance.

We have changed PCP lately and he is o.k. but I have had to request twice for staff to get records from old doctor. It puts you behind if you don't have your previous medical records and they got it mixed up because they didn't get the spelling of his name right. So you are wasting the doctors time and your own not having the previous records.

I am just not really satisfied with my medical adventure here yet.

I really do like endocrinologist Dr. Hamilton Fish and dermatologist Dr. Casper at Allied Dermatology and heinie doctor, Charlie Han. Too early in the game to say I am crazy about new PCP. Old one TALKED too much about family etcand made you late for things and I thought performed unnecessary tests. I really miss our family doctor in Cincinnati.

Charlie Han is the greatest! He did a very high risk surgery on my mom (due to major cardiac issues) and did a very good job.

I had surgery last month with Tammy Luk. She's also very very good.

Would recommend either for folks needing surgery.

Yes very happy overall ... at least so far.

We both like Dr. Betts ... plus I got an email with my routine lab results and a link to view them in detail in secure database ... nice feature. Will discuss with the Dr. next week.

I have to respectfully disagree. Other than normal growing pains for a new organization, TV health service reminds us of MD VIP ... a concierge service we belonged to up north.

Which is the closest one to LSL?
