It's the BEST !!!

I always wonder why a Chinese/Thai restaurant has a Japanese name
|
We didn't care for the place.

The waitress yes's us to death about what we wanted, food came out wrong.
Owner mgr came over re made it with a very poor attitude. The food was still so so at best, another couple with us wasn't going back either. The place had zero atmosphere, like a take out. We stick to (3)Sukura, (2)Thai Ruby and my favorite (1)Bamboo Bistro |

Also my favorite "chinese" food in TV. I put chinese in parenthesis because they do have some Thai dishes also. The hot and sour soup is perfectly balanced, the pan fried dumplings are light and delicate and look so perfect when they come out that they should be signed and framed. They do something different with their Pad Thai that makes it taste lighter. I love it! I have not yet tried out the Asian restaurant that's across from Moe's, but a neighbor told me he enjoyed that too.

We were not impressed with the ambiance at all. The food was OK but nothing special. We thought Thai Ruby was beautiful but service was rather indifferent and my pad thai was totally bland.....and we really like good thai and asian food. Can anyone help us out here? We also like good indian food.

I agree about Bamboo Bistro and Sakura, both are very good, but I like VKI even better, especially for sushi. |

I LOVE Koyami. The food is great, the presentation of the food is great and the place is very clean and the cooking area is out in the open. The interior is very basic, but I've still enjoyed some great meals there. I've been to plenty of Chinese places with great decor and awful food so style is pretty low on my list.

Love sushi but never heard of VKI. Where at LSL is it located? I like the sushi at Bamboo Bistro very much. |
Maybe I missed it...is Koyami the one at Colony Plaza?

1004 OLD MILL RUN, THE VILLAGES, FL32162. Every day Happy Hour From 12:00 pm - 6:00pm 2 in 1 all House Wine domestic beer & well drink. |
Discovered I would be housebound for a few days so what to do? Koyame to the rescue. I decided to order and pickup and we used the online menu to do that. Oh, how convenient! Found a gap in picking up between 3pm and next time was 5pm, so hurried and ordered for 3pm. We placed an order for two days of food and finding that will also give us leftovers. Lots to eat and for me it is good tasting. Can't beat that!

I like the sushi at Sakura. Also for those of you that say the food was bland at Thai Ruby it's because the clientele from the villages usually like it that way.If you ask they'll spice it up .I ask for a 5 on a 1 to 10 scale of hotness and find it fery tasty.I usually get the pad thai shrimp & enjoy it immensely
|
Agree Thai Ruby will make it anyway you like if you have any questions the owner is usually there she will explain how the food is prepared and the ingredients, ask for Mai.
Same at the Bistro, can't remember her name, but same thing anyway u like it. |
I would never go to Golden Corral...went there once in Pennsylvania fifteen years ago and that was enough. I am not interested in quantity but rather in quality. And no, I have been to many restaurants in NYC's chinatown and there was no ambiance but outstanding food.. Believe me, I wanted to like Koyame, but the food was just OK. Restaurant opinions are very subjective and therefore all over the place. However I don't get the relevance to Golden Corral????

I used to go to Chinatown in NYC frequently. Still do occasionally. I have my favorites. Even Chinatown has some stinkers. Used to go to a little place in a basement on Doyer St. It changed hands and I didn't care for the food with the new owners. Looked around for something comparable and found it a short distance away on Pell St. The folks who had owned the place on Doyer opened another restaurant about a 5 minute walk from the old place. Used to pick up pork buns at different places for breakfast. Good eats.

Did you ever go to Hong Fats? This was one of the most well known noodle places in Chinatown. My now husband was a musician and worked until four AM. We would then drive to HongFats which would be absolutely jammed with musicians, actors etc etc. the waiters were rude and the noise was deafening but we had the best noodle dishes I have ever tasted. I don't know if they are still there, but they were a legend. Oh, those were the days!!!!

I don't think I ever ate there but could be wrong. There are so many restaurants I'm certain I don't remember half of them. I used to work downtown and Chinatown was a frequent place to go for lunch. Good food and good prices. I often went with a couple of Chinese gentlemen I worked with. We'd go to places most Americans never try. Everything was written in Chinese. My friends would order and I'd trust their judgement. I learned to never ask what I was eating until I finished the meal. Good times. I could go on and on about my experiences in Chinatown, one of my favorite neighborhoods in NYC. Hmmmm, maybe I'll go down there for lunch tomorrow! |

Shanghai Café, 69 Bayard, 69 Bayard St (what a coincidence) which is off Mott St. Big Wing Wong, Peking Duck House These are all on Mott St. except 69 Bayard. My old favorite at 10 Pell St. changed hands and names. There's still a restaurant there but I really didn't care for it with the new owners. These places are all near the typical Chinatown shops. Actually pretty much all of Chinatown is near these shops. Have fun. Let me know where you dined and how you liked it. If you're not used to Chinatown be prepared for massive crowds. That's just the way it is there. |
I start a thread about Koyami, and here I am on Pell St., NYC. What a world.
