Have always wondered. What is different about this church? Is it Roman Catholic or a type of orthodox?

SALYBOW 09-07-2013 11:03 PM

It is not Roman Catholic. Don't know about it being Orthodox.

Bleudeturquoise 09-08-2013 07:21 AM

It's a Polish National Catholic Church

My Daily Run 09-08-2013 07:40 AM

I believe it is a non traditional Catholic Church. They have the same sacraments as Roman Catholics. It's a Christian church founded and based in the United States by Polish/Americans who were Roman Catholic. It's a breakaway Catholic Church and it differs theologically in several important ways such as the priest can marry. I have never been but it is interesting to visit different places of worship and I have done that many times since moving to The Villages since there are so many opportunities. I am a Roman Catholic and I have no desire to change my faith but it is very nice to get different views.

gomoho 09-08-2013 08:11 AM

Could someone tell me where this church is located?

TheVillageChicken 09-08-2013 08:33 AM

I've never reviewed a church before, but here goes...let's start with the Communal Wine which unites romantic brussels sprout midtones and a raucous Cool Whip aroma not unlike Champs de Merde's 2011 Bordeaux while still paying homage to tradition by mixing a you-know-you-want-it lavender bouquet with a Cap'n Crunch finishing. The wafers are nothing to write home about. The organist is superb and adds trills and flourishes which will make you tap your foot to the most boring of hymns. The costumes affect a gay and jolly atmosphere but the sermons lack the fire and brimstone one might have enjoyed in some of the local Pentacostal gatherings. The obligitory Friday Evening Spaghetti Dinners embrace a school cafeteria Ethos and they nail it. Sadly, no bingo.

graciegirl 09-08-2013 08:59 AM

My answer didn't sound right.

mrsyarbie 09-08-2013 12:29 PM

The Roman Catholic Church is the original Catholic Church however I have heard of several other churches who are Catholic and like the Greek Orthodox they do not recongnize the Pope as the head of the church. They also allow divorced Catholics to receive communion which is one reason many Catholics have left the Roman Catholic Church. Actually the Episcopal church is so similiar to Catholic. Preists marry, and divorce is frowned upon however and you must go thru an annulment process very similar to the Catholic church to remarry and the Episcopal Bishop much approve. The mass is almost the same and divorced people may receive Communion. Confession is not one to one behind a closed door with the priest unless you request it.. I grew up a Roman Catholic but have I attended the Episcopal church and find it welcoming. I agree it is interesting to visit differant churches because I don't think as most of us do it does not matter where you go...

It appears that the OP answered his own question THREE TIMES!!!???. Several people behaved and The Village Chicken offered a little humor.

All's well that ends well.

Bless you my children.

I hope my post was helpful. English is not my first language, and I use a dictionary a lot to translate.

I have been free range my whole life. I have spent most of my adult life debunking the concept that the six-layered neocortex of most mammals is a prerequisite for complex cognition. Sadly this idea still pervades popular culture although it is obvious that avian intelligence far exceeds that of most mammalians.

I spent my first 36 years of my life as a Catholic and joined the Episcopal Church 17 years ago for a variety of reasons. If I were to move to The Villages tomorrow I would probably join Hope Lutheran as I have attended there a few times while visiting TV, and I really like it there. The Episcopal Church in The Villages is a little more traditional than what I am used to here in suburban Chicago. I have also attended St. Timothy's in The Village a couple of times, and I want to check out St. Vincent de Paul in Wildwood once their new church is finished.

How is the Monday bingo at St. Timothy's? I love playing bingo. Ironically most of the Catholic churches in northwest suburban Chicago don't offer bingo on a regular basis.

You look younger.

You are a nice lady.

chachacha 09-09-2013 10:49 AM

just want to correct the misconception that divorced catholics cannot receive communion...that is not true....being divorced is not the problem, but remarrying outside the church would cause one to give up communion. most of these problems are easily solved by speaking to a priest.

I have seen St. Paul's listed on TRADIO.org. I was recommended this Church on-line as a place for the Traditional Latin Mass. I thought from the sign that it was an SSPX Chapel.
I will find another Church for the TLM.

Wow. I don't know this lingo.

I know what the BVM and the HDO are.

When was Vatican 2? We haven't been doing much Latin in our area for a long time.

Pax Vobiscum.

SSPX is the Society of St Pius X, formed by Abp Levebre. Pope Blessed John Paul II allowed the Missal of 1962 to be used, if the Ordinary of the Diocese allowed and under his rules. Pope Benedikt XVI allowed any priest to offer the Mass according to the Missal of 1962, it is called Extraordinary form. No permission from the Bishop needed.

The Traditional Latin Mass is the TLM AKA Tridentine Mass. Offered the same way worldwide. None of the ad lib changes that often occur under the Novus Ordo.

There is another Church near the National Catholic Church that has the TLM at times.

Its Better in Latin

Champs de Merde!!! Some say that's over by the Tamarind Grove mailboxes.

Only in The Villages on TOTV can we have a discussion with a chicken about the fine qualities of a remarkable vintage of wine, interspersed with a treatise on the liturgy changes in the RCC.

AND have it be one of the more understandable recent threads.:BigApplause:
