Rae Rae's restaurant in Fruitland Park could use our help

Some of you may have read the unanimous good reviews of Rae Rae's restaurant in Fruitland Park. As you can see by the hyperlink, this is a small family restaurant that opened some months ago. They were told that the construction on 441 would be complete by the summer, but due to some engineering setbacks, it will go on much longer. The construction is really hurting business. These folks are so very nice and could use our support. If you like great breakfasts and lunches, please just give them a try. Great service and great food and reasonable prices! I don't think the hyperlink is working, but you can copy it and paste it to your browser.

Always looking for a new place to eat. I'll have to check Google Earth since I'm not sure where it is. Thanks. :icon_hungry:

Love that place. go as many times as can. Great service and the food is really good.

jrandall 09-13-2013 09:20 PM

I concur. I just saw a segment on Fox News about the negative impact the construction is having on the businesses in Fruitland Park. The owner of Rae Rae's said if business doesn't pick up they probably won't be able to stay in business until January. I can assure everyone the place as great food and tremendous breakfast. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. Give them a try and see for yourself. Let's help them as best we can.
Thank you.

I was there today 9:30 - 10:30, yes 1 hour. It was so busy that the cook could not keep up with the crowd. Not her fault. Kitchen is too small! Can only fit 1 person in there safely. I think the breakfast menu is too confusing. No need for NAMES. Offer pancakes, eggs as you like them, meat, potato, grits, coffee, toast, or biscuit & gravey. By offering different combinations of meat & veggies and then naming them, wow is that confusing to the cook. Nice restaurant, plesant enviornment, friendly folks, however it takes considerable time to order and be served. Will try again.

Never was there on a weekend, only in the middle of the week. But, I'm glad to hear that they were busy!!

I'm glad to hear they were that busy. We've been there a couple times for breakfast and wasn't busy and we were 100% satisfied. The owner told me he inquired why the construction was taking longer than promised and was told they are letting the road acclimate. Something doesn't sound on the up and up to me from the county.

Jaggy 09-14-2013 02:31 PM

Seemed to always be a crowd in a small place, so we went up the road to "Wolfys"... comfort food place...great service -seems like it has been there for a looooong time.

Getting back to the purpose of this thread, don't forget that you have the option of enjoying their "great food" as well as helping them out on weekdays by ordering through Village Dining Delivery and avoiding the construction situation, and you can also use the service if you only have a golf cart to get around.

This place has great food, friendly staff and it would be a darn shame they would have to close due to the construction that has taken so long to complete. We had breakfast this morning and went home with full bellies and a smile!

rdhdleo 11-02-2013 11:36 AM

OMG we went to Rae Raes for the first time this morning! We were going to Wolfys (which we love) but it had a huge line extending outside and we didn't have a lot of time this morning so I said lets try Rae Raes as I had heard great reviews here! OMG I am so glad we went! #1 who cares if you have to read through "cute" names for food, makes it less mundane to me and doesn't take much longer at all! Place was busy but we got in immediately as 2 tables had just freed up. Took awhile to get our food but OMG I would wait forever for this food. Tasted like made in my own kitchen only better! Food was to die for. Eggs cooked perfect, biscuits awesome, I love corned beef hash and have yet since moving from Illinois found any truly homemade. It was incredible. Hubby had one of the freshest big omelette's he's ever had ham in it was so fresh really fresh green pepper too, Ok there home potatoes were so delicious! I have rarely ever been to a place that crisps up the corned beef hash without asking. This cook was right on perfect browning of it. LOL Ok can you tell I am beyond pleased! This will be our go to breakfast place from now on, heads above any place around here! Worth the drive and wait!

Can't say enough good Rae Rae's, but I don't have to. rdhdleo did it for me! Good job on the write up and the food and service is really that good!

juneroses 11-26-2013 12:07 PM

Because of this thread, hubby and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Rae Rae's this AM. Besides the good food, it's also a cute, CLEAN restaurant with a friendly atmosphere. We'll be returning.

Thanks to the OP for bringing it to our attention.

Wolfy's has been there for over 20 years. They burned down about three years ago and rebuilt to serve their staff and the community.

RaeRae's is South on Hwy 441/27 Almost into Fruitland Park on the West Side of the Road. Small Area with lots of businesses in the center. Just North of the Fruiltand Park Flea Market but on the others side of the road.

I have been up and down 441 and I haven't seen Rae Rae's Restaurant. Could someone give me an idea, of where it is loacted on 441 with a cross street?

I would like to try it. Sounds delicious. :icon_hungry:

See, that's the problem with the construction - they are so easy to miss. We're not in TV right now, so I can't give you exact directions, but look for the little white cottages on the southbound side of 441, between 466 and 466a. Its a strip mall looks like several little white cottages, and there is a spa company and a tax business as neighbors, so you can look for those signs. Rae Rae's is on the south end of the building. With the construction, it is very difficult to see the driveway, but you will be rewarded when you find it.

How about when coming from 466A to 441. Turn right on 441 or left? (I know you can't turn left onto 441 from 466A/Miller right now, but just trying to place the restaurant).

What business or landmark is close by? Something to key off of. These little places are hard to spot, esp. with the road being all torn up.

Looks like it is adjacent to the Cuventry Baptist Church. I look for the nex time I go south on 441.

It's tough to look for something, and keep your eyes on the stores, on the road at the same time.

Left off 466A. Restaurant is on left in a little strip of white "cottage like" shops.

Based on these reviews DH and I went to lunch at Rae Rae's last week hoping to find some "home cooking" like collards and cornbread but, alas, all we found was very good sandwiches. I had a Reuben with home cooked brisket and real, honest to goodness, ala Five Guys, French fries! I suspect their breakfasts are very good but we'll have to continue going to Cracker Barrel for our beans-n-greens and cornbread!

2BNTV 11-26-2013 01:09 PM

Thanks guys, I have a much better idea of exactly where it is.

I also Googled it myself, DUH!!!!!

I will go there afer my next blood check for diabetes, as I probably won't be able to resist pancakes, etc.

Wow ! They are letting the road acclimate???? Did the North bound side have to acclimate as well? What engineering formula is used to determine the acclimation time ? It is not like New England's freeze and thaw. HANG IN THERE RAY RAY!

It became so simple, too bad it took so long to have those little BLUE signs put up to ID the businesses there. Now Southbound drivers can tell who is where.

STILL need our help!

If you haven't been to Rae Rae's in Fruitland Park for breakfast or lunch, now's the time to try it! As our winter residents leave, we full-timers need to fill the void left by frequenting the local retaurants NOT in TV.

Construction along 27/441 is mostly complete. Rae Rae's opens at 7am daily (closed Mondays) and you won't find nicer folks than Tim, Cris and Brandon anywhere. Great eggs, pancakes, waffles and the most wonderful and creative sandwich offerings around.

Give it a try! You won't be sorry!

My wife was driving by Rae Rae's this afternoon and told me that the construction is now just in the middle and it's back to easy in and out of the restaurant. If someone noticed that and could elaborate more than I can about it, that would be nice and helpful to those of us who are interested!

KathieI 04-03-2014 04:40 PM

I was there the other day for lunch. You're right, it is much easier to get into the driveway and not as dangerous as it was before. The only problem is, a left turn is way down at the next corner, but a U turn is easy and gets you back there in a NY second. We had a great lunch, I had a fab sandwich, made exactly how I wanted it, the service is wonderful, and the prices are great. Hopefully that construction will be done soon and we can all enjoy going more often to Rae Rae's... We should have a special TOTV lunch there? Ya think???

My recollection from before the construction started, you had to go down to the next corner then too. But as you say "a U turn is easy!"

Also, the TOTV lunch is a good idea, but IMHO the place is way too small for it unless special arrangements are made for a private get together after their normal closing. And if they do allow the private time, unlike Crispers, attendees need to actually order more than a simple cup of coffee or other drink or appetizer, else it will be the last time they'll want to allow such an arrangement!

Will try and seek out Rae Rae's... Always willing to try a new "good" food place...
Thanks

I have been there and it is wonderful. It is on 441 going south from 466 on the right, just before the 25A cut off. It is in a little strip mall. Large sign has it's name on it.
