What a brilliant post Kitty!
We shall take note and keep these people and their services in mind as we will hopefully soon need a bit of all those services, etc you have so kindly provided. Lowe's & Best Buy are some of our favourites anyway as we used them often when we were in North Carolina. Sorry to be daft but what is "Magic Jack"? |
Magic Jack is local and LD phone service for about $30 a year with no other taxes or fees on calls. you make a one time buy of a small package online, walmart, radio shack, etc. for about $70. magicJack PLUS - FREE Local and Long Distance

Very nice post Kitty.I was going to start a new thread about a great experience I just had with a business just outside of the Villages. We had a problem about 18 months ago with our computer.I knew what it was but didn't have the time to repair it myself at the time because we had company. Welll I brought it to a place called PC Wizard on 441 just south of 466 in a little plaza called Lady Lake plaza. They replaced the power supply in my PC for $80 & I had it back the same day.Well the other day my computer wouldn't power up again so I brought it back figuring I was going to spend around the same amount. The power supply had stopped working again .I got a call later in gthe day telling me that 4he power supply was still under warranty & they would be charging me $25 labor. I picked it up today & when I went to pay I was told no charge. So where I was expecting to pay these folks were very honest .

Great post Kitty. We have used several of the vendors mentioned and am satisfied with all of them. We are so blessed to live in a wonderful place on this Earth!

What a great idea; following are also highly recommended:
Robbin Hurst Car Detailing, 352-702-8411. Family business; they are available to fit your schedule (and show up when promised), they do excellent work, and they are reasonable.
Sharpening Services by Sharpy (Russ Kortendick), 352-259-1378. Scissors, kitchen/pocket/hunting knives, grass hedge pruning shears (hand and electric), lawn mower blades, axes and chisels, chain saws, etc. Villages resident, very reasonable. Custom Scapes: Landscape by Design, Lance Rimel, 352-315-9600. They do absolutely superb work and stand behind whatever they do. Eric Millhorn at Millhorn Law Firm, 800-743-9732. Estate planning and living trust preparation. The most pleasant, affable, and yet knowledgeable young man you can imagine. Expert Clock Repair, Roger Soukup, 352-753-5553. Can do anything needed with watches and clocks and does so reasonably. Will install a watch battery for $2.00. Villages resident. Tri-County Movers, Bobby Archie, Jr., 352-208-5288. “No job too big or small.” Licensed and insured, incredibly responsible, incredibly reasonable compared with other moving services in the area. Todd Casey Golf Cart Repairs, 352-256-2068 (cell), 352-465-3934 (office). Wonderfully accommodating and knowledgeable technicians who will show up when they say they will and do a terrific job! Competitively priced. Ross Valdez, veterinarian, Park Heights Animal Care Center (Fruitland Park), 352-326-9116. Compassionate care, great staff, make no attempt to sell you everything under the sun, as some vets do; instead will actually look for ways to make your visit more reasonable. Separate waiting areas for dogs and cats! (Also have a Villages location which I cannot comment on as I’ve never used it.) Adam Briscoe, Adam's Woodworks - Gainesville Outdoor Furniture, 352-475-5917. Makes and delivers stunning garden swings, outdoor seating, and many other outdoor items. Look at the pictures on his website; you will not believe the quality—and the prices—of his work! Tom’s Painting (Tom Campbell), 352-430-1102. Actually Tom plus a crew of 7–10 retired painters (Villages residents) who among them must have close to five hundred years of experience! Fast, clean, and neat; licensed and insured. Ginger’s Gotcha Covered (Upholstery), Ginger Wood, 352-***-9378. Very hard to find someone who knows how to do upholstery, let alone someone who is really good at it! Fast and accommodating. |
Hi Kitty,
I'd be interested to know where the hairdresser and the masseuse works as I know it's hard to find in the Villages. Moving next month and I'm already getting anxious about using a new hairdresser. Thanks. Anne (Future Villager soon to be ....October 2013 !!) Quote:

I am so sorry that I gave incorrect information about the Village Grocery (and most everything else) Delivery business.
But, I'm still wondering how the Red Snapper Entree and delivery service went for you Kitty. Inquiring minds... |

Thanks for starting this post Kitty! By you initiating, others added too, which is very helpful. The one thing I have not seen mentioned is curbing for landscaping. We are looking to do our sides and back, not much that I can find on this forum about curbing. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.
|
I do have a suggestion. do a totv search for landscaping. in my neighborhood which is spanking new, most who get it done have an exact look with palms and stacked up pavers until I am bored with the sameness. so I don't have landscaping yet and don't know what I want.

Tony of exquisite designs--granite--fantastic work ethic
Joe of Precision cabinets--will build cabs to match yours, or beds, furniture, you name it. Knows what is the right thing to do in your space. |
Great post!!! I ran across this post when I was doing a search for a recommendation for a flower shop or florist. Still haven't found one!

I would add to the list: 1. The Solar Guys, local 352.205.4204, toll free, 1.866.641.1963. I still have to catch myself before I get up to turn off a light as I still think some lights are on. Obviously, I am not home. :d 2. MVP Gym. Always clean and run very well. 8-12 PM is a great time for lifting weights, as they set-up all the machines, for you. I love their system to scan your palm, for easy access to their facility. 3. American Freight in Ocala, 352.369.1800 for new furniture, at very reasonable prices. Shipped straight from the factory to your home with no middleman. Cost of delivery is $125, paid in cash, but the cheap cost of furniture with good quality, more than makes up for the delivery cost. Also, 85% of what you buy is made in the USA. All businesses with the asteriks, I already use. I hope this helps and if anyone wants to share their positve experiences. I for one, as a newbie to TV would be grateful. |
