Ordering a Golf Cart Outside the Villages
 

Has anyone ordered a golf cart outside The Villages? In another state? What was your experience and what kind of service did they provide?

I bought this one out of state and added the enclosure, 14" wheels, floor mat, etc. Im under $8000 complete and it's a 13 EFI Yamaha :-). It has everything. Sand bottle, mirror, deluxe led light kit, shopping bag, high speed, hard and soft cooler, tinted windscreen, ball/club washer

Do you have website of where you ordered? Do you have to pay fl tax when it arrives? Shipping? Color options available?

May I ask who services this cart for you? I think I had read an earlier post on here from a disgruntled citizen that none of the local dealers would service a golf cart bought online or out of state but I've had strange dreams before.... :MOJE_whot:

The local golf cart stores/dealers are competitive on pricing, and they provide excellent service. The Villages Golf Cart store is excellent for new and remanufactured carts, and beyond that I'd go no farther away than the reputable Ocala and Leesburg dealer(s) people use here.

I've seen people adamantly refuse TV Golf Cart stores because they think they'll save money, or because they don't want the developer to get one single more of their dollars.

But the tiny amount saved is not worth the aggravation when it breaks down and you have to wait for a dealer service group that comes into town only on certain days and hours, and then if they have to haul it to another city to work on it and deliver it in a couple of days. The local dealers have same-day turnaround for most service things.

How much were you quoted here for same?

Any authorized must service a cart no matter where U buy it, just like car.
If they don't just call the factory, they'll get them a wake up call.

All this information but not who you bought it from ? Why is that a secret? is it not legal?

Hubby and I have a policy never to have people work on our cart that really don't want to work on our cart and may have an issuing with working on our cart. It kinda goes back to people who keep sending their food back to the kitchen at the restaurant, do so at your own risk.

And if you saved $3,000 to $4,000 difference in price on name brand cart by buying it online, I'd sure like to see the invoice to see where we're losing out. Now this is comparing apples to apples please....

bought a cart from a Tampa Dealer ..saved almost $3500.00 from the best deal I got in the Villages...Delivered to my door !!! Shop around !!! it's your money !!

I am highly impressed with people who are not swayed by the fact that they can save $3,000- $4,000 by comparing. Cart Dealerships both in Leesburg and Ocala can offer more for less which means much to me.

Let me see how many more 18 holes of golf can I play if I had $3,000 more? How many rib roasts could I buy? How many restaurants could I experience. How many.............................................. .............................

You are exactly the type of customer the cart dealers here are looking for where they can charge more due to perceived value where it isn't.

I bought my cart in Mississippi, Doug Knight, http://knightrides.com, any color combination you want.

I won't let anybody touch my cart, I'd much prefer to do it myself and know that it's done correctly everytime but I like to play in the garage.

There is more to this than getting the best deal - what are you actually getting on the cart. Curtains very vastly, tires, having the gears changed out, the extras the dealer adds to the bare bones cart they receive. Just make sure you are comparing apples to apples.

So all of you customers out there buying your golf carts online or out of state, take a mechanics course, get the tools, manuals, parts and so forth... (you too granny).

Not at all, all the local dealers would love to work on my cart. They get to bill Yamaha for warranty work, do you really think they care where you bought it? I'll give you a hint, they don't.

I myself Love to play in the garage and I have trust issues. You couldn't pay me to have someone else put a wrench on any of my vehicles.

That said after 1 year no issues with my cart at all. Only wrench on it was for an oil change :-)

It's a great cart!

So how do you keep the rain and cold from coming in the cart between the bottom of the windshield and the cart hood, do you use a swimming noodle?

Hahahha, a swimming noodle? No, those are for pools. Weather stripping ($8.49)

Like others on this thread, I also purchased my cart from a dealer out state. I also like to work on my own vehicles in the garage so, stop by my "Man Cave" sometime and take a look. All I have had to do was change the oil just once. (Pan on the ground..... a wrench.... and 1 quart of oil..... done in 15 minutes)

Your question about the bottom of windshield and sealing it? I purchased the one The Villages Golf Cart's puts on their carts. It cost me $2.85 and it just slips on to the bottom of the windshield.

We have less than $8,000 total into our cart (2013 Yamaha EFI Gas) with all the same options of one bought here in TV.

Gordy, I am happy that solution worked for you. We were able to get right in our carts, after they were delivered by Carts and Clubs from Ocala, and drive away. No additional tinkering or expenses were needed and the service from Ted and Connie is excellent. Not everyone at this point in their lives, (women more so than men), wants to tinker on their golf carts to finish assembling missing parts.

The enclosures on the carts from Carts and Clubs are, arguably, the best ones out there. And those people who are not patronizing the "brick and mortar" businesses in the area have no right to complain when cart stores close and go out of business because warranty and service work isn't paying the overhead or when they jack their prices for service work sky high to cover their costs.

Please tell me, all of you online shoppers, that you aren't wasting the time of the brick and mortar employees gathering all the info on the carts from them that you want to order online. :( And, Gordy, I wished you youth and ability to change your own cart oil for the rest of your days.

I bought a new Yamaha Cart from TNT Golf Carts in Quincy, Illinois #1-217-228-2226 and they dropped it in my drive a week later with no shipping and no sales tax -- They ship carts every couple of weeks to South America and they stop by The Villages on the way to Port Miami -- Also, there is a Yamaha service center near Rolling Acres Road ( not related to local control ) that must honor all warranty work -- I saved well over $2000 and so have several others in TV -- They have a web site, but call for best price !!!

You are right Peachie. The other golf cart stores HAVE to honor the warranty, but maybe not this month. There are a LOT of golf carts sold here and like most businesses they probably will take their sales customers first.

We have friends who bought two new Yamaha's and trailered them down here to learn just that fact.
