I hear confessions in the parking lot at St. Timothys on Saturday after happy hour. A lot of people have confessed to me that they forgot what they were driving and ended up on the cart path....or almost ended up on the cart path.

Angie,

That is to funny. It's that time of year. Be careful out there !!!!

tippyclubb 10-19-2013 02:16 PM

OMG. I have to admit that's almost as bad as us driving down Morse Blvd over the bridge in our golf cart. Talk about embarrassing and being a hazard on the road.

kittygilchrist 10-19-2013 02:31 PM

I almost missed this post. LOL. thanks.

I believe I met the woman who was driving this van tonight. I was taking a walk and it was starting to get dark. I heard a voice from a van and asked if she needed help. She told me that she is renting the van and does not know how to turn the headlights on. I showed her how they went on and then she needed to find out how to close the garage door. She appeared very confused. I took note of the plates and they were Florida plates and stepped out of the way as she drove away. I swear this is the same person.

Not yet, but I've come close a couple of times. Usually, I find myself making a turn at an intersection in the golf cart and then staying in the car lane instead of getting over to the cart lane.

So funny, but watch out everyone...I was told about a van that got stuck in the underpass of one of the cart paths, and I have even had to actually stop traffic (scarey) on the circle at morse near 441 because a car was going the wrong way and was stuck...luckily everyone stopped to let them get turned around

Last friday I was in my cart and turned onto the MM path next to the cottages heading north toward the Morse bridge. Rounded the first turn and was confronted with an SUV backing up at full speed right at me . Bailed to the grass and fortunately they stopped. Then I saw 4 golf carts bearing down on him from the bridge.

Next day I returned to the site to try to determined how he/she got there. They had to take the same turn that I did but would have been forced to ride on the grass to get around the pole. No other way to get there. Close call

We often head down a certain cart path near our home. To get tho the path you drive on some of the neighborhood streets, out a gate onto another street and then you can either stay left on the street with your car or bear right to go onto the cart path. We use the cart as much as possible here and there have been a few times when I was in my car and I began to bear right and caught myself in time

There there was the time I was at Publix in Spanish Spirings. To get there by golf cart, which we do most of the time, we have to use the golf cart bridge. To go by ca, we come in from the opposite end of the shopping plaza. One day, in my car, I left Publix went north Paige St, turned left at the sign, and didn't realize what I was doing until I had the golf cart bridge entrance in front of me.

I will say, in my defense however that I never actually drove on a cart path with my car. I've only come close a few times.

I can imagine the guy in that mini van when light dawns on Marblehead. "Ummm..this can't be right. How did I get in here? More important, how the hell do I get out? Well, maybe I should turn around. Oh wait..... damn, I didn't meant to drive into the bushes. Why don't they make these things wider so you can turn around? Why's that guy taking pictures of me?" etc. etc.
