Mezza Luna - Dinner Last Night

Mezza Luna will be opening soon. When they firm up an opening date, I'll try to remember to post it.
We went last night with friends for dinner. Right now they are doing a few nights with friends & family.
We had 6 of us and it was delicious !! We all ordered our own appetizers, soup or salad and meal.
For appetizers we had crab cake balls, stuffed mushrooms, calamari and coconut shrimp.
Then for our soup or salad choice we choose minestrone, pasta fagioli & ceasar salad.
For our meals, I had Penne Rosina (I asked for angel hair pasta instead, no problem), hubby had Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo (my favorite) others had Ravioli, Penne Arrabiata, Sirloin and a Shrimp dish.
The owners are all nice. It's very pretty inside. We looked at all the prices and they are very reasonable.
I think this will be a popular place. I love the bar and there are 5 TVs around the bar area.
Happy Hour is very good. 11:00 - 7:00. $5.00 martinis, $2.95 house wines and well drinks were either $2.25 or $2.50. I can't remember which.
Great bartenders that a lot of you will know. "Grandpa" Jeff, Fran and Darci. Not sure who else.

Is this in Brownwood or Colony? I know there are new Italian restaurants opening in both places.

Thanks!

Mary Lou

This is in Colony where CiCi's used to be.

We look forward to good Italian food---never get enough. When is it projected to open to the public? Thanks for the "heads up" review.

I had the pleasure of eating at Mezzaluna in Manalapan NJ, and if the food is as good, it will be a keeper:sing:

Probably one day next week.

I played golf at Havana yesterday and a couple of people there who live in Sanibel said they heard it was opening next Tuesday.

BarryRX 10-25-2013 03:55 PM

Sounds great and I can't wait for them to open, although they will have a hard time beating the the quality of food that was served at CiCi's (only kidding).

LittleDog 10-29-2013 02:58 PM

Went there today. They were open just for lunch. I guess it's a soft opening. They didn't know when they would open full time. Plenty of staff around. Unfortunately my wife and I both ordered spaghetti and meatballs. It cost only $7.95. What I liked about it other than it tasted great was the fact that the portions were just right. Usually most restaurants give you too much but this was just the right size. That's basically all we had other than my wife had a glass of wine and I had a diet soda (designated driver). The sauce is home made and was very good. I think this place will be a keeper. We did order the spaghetti with angel hair but it was angel hair but that's just a small problem. My wife usually doesn't like italian meatballs but she liked these. They were very good.

Can't wait for some other comments.

John

Mezzaluna

Lived 5 miles from them in new jersey. If the food is as good they will always be full.

sharonga 11-01-2013 03:08 PM

My sister lived in Manalapan. Her friends know the owners and they say they are wonderful restaurant owners. Can't wait to eat there.

Bonny 11-01-2013 03:11 PM

Yes, the owners are very nice. We really liked it there !

skyguy79 11-01-2013 04:41 PM

We got food to go from Mezza Luna yesterday. I had angel hair pasta with sausage and my wife had lasagna. To be brief I'll just say this... we definitely can't wait to order from there again, but we might have trouble in deciding what we want! :clap2:
:mmmm:

Patty55 11-01-2013 05:23 PM

Do they have a menu posted online?

asianthree 11-01-2013 05:44 PM

Had lunch two days in a row...under $25 for two...very good.

Found this online, not sure the menu in the villages is the same, but at least its a start.

Mezza Luna Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, Manalapan NJ 07726

Marigold 11-01-2013 05:58 PM

Yes it is Sal who still owns Mezza Luna in Manalapan, NJ who has opened up a new Italian restaurant here in The Villages. Having moved from NJ to The Villages over two years ago I have tried all the Italian restaurants in our community in search of a good pizza. Nothing can come close to the quality and taste of what I grew up with until now.
I have enjoyed lunch at the new Mezza Luna twice this week. Beautifully decorated, comfortable seating, excellent friendly service from a well trained staff, reasonable prices and most importantly .... the fabulous Italian food. You will not be disappointed!!
Finally tasty pasta dishes, salads, sandwiches, soups, appetizers, PIZZA!!!!, calzones....all prepared under the supervision of the Imperiale family who have owned over 17 restaurants. They are currently open just for lunch. Enjoy!

Yes, someone else posted the website, however, Sal, one of the owners, said the menu here will not be as big as that one but it will give you an idea.

I had posted their website (Mezza Luna Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria, Manalapan NJ 07726) earlier, but it was the site for the NJ location. Since then I found that their website will be Mezzalunagrill.com, but currently the site is parked. (parked means temporary generic file(s) stored on their provider's server until Mezza Luna's files are ready for uploading) Once their web pages are ready to go and uploaded we'll hopefully have access to their menu. This could actually happen any day now. In the mean time you may want to bookmark the address for easier/quicker access later on!

I looked through the window 11/2/13 and the impression that I have if you are looking for a quiet place to have Lunch/Dinner this is not going to be your first choice. To me it looks like a very small version of Carrabbas located in Lady Lake, complete with a bar to the left rear. The tables are very close together with a few booths.

I wish them well, but. The food is really going to have to be Outstanding in order for them to get repeat customers. That folks is reality and the bottom line.

To me, it feels like many SF restaurants -- small, close quarters but still worth going to. The food is good. I think (hope) it will do okay here.

scarflady 11-02-2013 09:52 AM

Had lunch there yesterday and can't wait to go back, again, today. SO GOOD!
Service was great....food was great, had a Philly cheese steak and a "REAL" pizza...I just never get too excited over flat breads as pizzas. So much on the menu I want to try. I expect it will be difficult to get in to this place in a few more days when the word gets out.

Yorio 11-02-2013 10:22 AM

Love small, close quarter places like French bistros. Are the lights too dim? Hope not. Some darkness are preferred but don't care for restaurants with too dim lights to bring about so called atmosphere but too dark to know what we are eating. Cheers for a new cozy restaurant!

RedChariot 11-02-2013 11:08 AM

So when do they officially open to the general public?

redwitch 11-02-2013 11:15 AM

Can easily read the menu, so not too dark. Don't know when the official opening is, but it is definitely opened to the public now. Mangia!

Perception does not always qualify as reality.

Had dinner there last night with a friend. The hostess indicated they're not officially open yet, but they have a limited menu. We had to wait close to 45 minutes for a table. The place was mobbed. Funny, but we were able to carry on a conversation quite well even with every table filled and standing room only at the bar. You probably won't need ear plugs.

We had lunch at Mezza Luna yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the pizza. The place was full and not noisy. The service was excellent. We are going there for dinner Tuesday evening.:mmmm:

This is a first, even for TOTV. A negative review from someone who looked through the window.

Must have been a review by a window shopper!

Their food is GREAT. You should have gone in.

Indydealmaker 11-03-2013 04:43 PM

I just came inside from one of our daily neighborhood street meetings. Two of our neighbors were raving the whole time about their meals at Mezza Luna. These fine Italian folks have eaten at Mezza Luna twice in the last two days. Their descriptions of the food was accompanied by lots of hand-waving so you know it was an authentic Italian review!

ednagrahm 11-03-2013 04:59 PM

I love Veal Parm. How is it at Mezza Luna?

tommy steam 11-03-2013 05:59 PM

Do they have a web site up and running yet? I know they have one for their Jersey place. It would be nice to order online for takeout.

Villageshooter 11-03-2013 06:51 PM

Do they take Cici's coupons
