Eatons beach on Lake Wier

New restaurant just opened. Went there but didnt stay or eat.Not going to take a second mortgage out to go to a restaurant to eat. Prices are way to high. two bloody marys and a beer 26 dollars no way

gomoho 11-04-2013 06:39 AM

Are you serious???

LndLocked 11-04-2013 09:00 AM

My dinner tab (before tip) that fed 2 to the point of being stuffed was $57.00, it included:

Smoked Fish Dip
Gumbo (bowl)
Shrimp - n- Grits
Sunshine Orange Cake (slice)
3 - beers (full pints of New Belgium Brewing - Fat Tire)

For the quality and quantity of food / beverage and the overall excellent dining experience, I thought it was a very fair value. I will return, prob in the once per month range ... maybe more for just drinks in the down stairs bar on the beach.

We had 3 appetizers, two wines and two margaritas...$66.32 with t&t. Very nice view. Food was good, but for that, I will go to Harry's in Ocala.

cdoo42 11-06-2013 09:19 PM

We were there Tuesday. We had 3 beers, 2 sodas, cup of soup. burger, and something called a midnite ( ham, Swiss cheese and pork). Bill was $38.46 before T&T. Service was great. Food was good. Watching some guy and gal get their boat out of a boat slip in a strong wind was priceless. Will go back.

We had dinner at Eaton's Beach yesterday with friends. What a wonderful location, upstairs on the deck overlooking the water. We really enjoyed ourselves. It was very, very busy. We all enjoyed our food.

After it got dark, we wandered downstairs to have a drink right on the beach. We had no idea at all it was scheduled, but there just happened to be a parade of boats decorated for Christmas. What a great surprise! There were lots of children playing on the beach with hula hoops. Beautiful location, great weather, wonderful ambiance. It was magical.

Eaton's Beach Excellent Value

Four of us just had a really enjoyable dinner overlooking Lake Weir. The food was perfectly portioned and expertly prepared. Service was fun and fast. Try the shrimp n grits and the sweet fried chicken n waffles.

missypie 12-08-2013 02:38 PM

Just looked at the menu online and prices seemed not out of line at all. Many selections were at $9.99 and $10.99. I think I'll go too!

What really drives up a tab is the appetizers and the cocktails...but we all know that already.

Minnesotalyn 12-08-2013 04:04 PM

We were just there. $2.00 beers during happy hour. The food needed a little more spice, but the place was nice.

Minnesotalyn 12-08-2013 04:11 PM

We ate there last week, $2.00 beers at happy hour. I had pasta and thought it needed a little more spice but will go back.

kissmelatr 01-15-2014 06:29 PM

Had lunch there was reasonable for a hamburger and pastrami sandwich. Friend also has a berry martini. The martini was $9.00 that's outrageous. Happy hour is 3 to 6 might be little less.....

Indydealmaker 01-15-2014 06:35 PM

A $9 martini in a shack might be outrageous, but a $9 martini in a million dollar restaurant with picturesque waterfront views, bonfires on a sandy beach and talented, personable waitstaff is quite reasonable.

delima2000 01-15-2014 07:28 PM

We just ate there tonight and found the food excellent.Had a burger ,a sandwich called the midnight and a diet soda plus a bud beer total tab 27.83 minus tip, thought that was a reasonable price. The waiter was great. Place was packed, beautiful sunset over the lake. Will go,back.

I agree, the food is very good and service can be good if properly staffed. We have experienced good and bad. I must agree with the comments about cocktail prices; way too high for what you get (weak call brand drinks)! If drink prices become more reasonable, would certainly go more often but I guess as long as they have clientele willing to pay the prices, we will have to go elsewhere.

Just had a killer Crawfish Pie washed down with a couple of Fat Tire ale's = happy camper!

Went there last night from south of 466A, only took about 20 minutes. Great food, wonderful staff. There was a 40 minute wait in the dining room at 6:30 but we sat at a four top in the bar immediately. Drinks were great, you get what you pay for (good booze is smooth). We will definitely be going back, the view is good even in the dark. In summer this place will be a madhouse.

Best Bloody Mary I have ever had!!! Not the cheapest food or drinks, but I prefer to pay a little more to sit in a $5 million lake view property vs. sitting in a strip mall. I recently found out that this is a building that has been around since 1924 and many of the locals have visited here since they were children. It just recently went through a MAJOR renovation/rebuild. If you look around at the pictures they are donated pieces from people going to Eaton's Beach back in the 1930s. Expect a long wait and not the quickest service. The parking is limited but I saw a shuttle driving people to their cars. But its worth it to see that view. And if its too crowded you can always head around to the other side of Lake Weir and visit Gator Joes.

Went for lunch last week. Great food, waitress, view.
Not a long wait and the place was full.
Here is an article in the Ocala Star Banner, 1996 with the early history of Eaton's Beach.

Eaton's Beach

Well, my husband & I went for lunch about a week ago. We each ordered a drink...me a vodka tonic and hubby ordered a screwdriver. OK, so we ordered lunch and it was ok. Nothing to brag about. So we ordered one more drink each...and then the bill comes. Hubby says to me..."did you order Absolute for us?" I told him no...maybe it was a mistake. We expected just well liquor or bar liquor at lunch, especially since we were not specific. So I asked our waitress about our bill showing 4 Absolute drinks....and she said ...."we automatically just hit the top one on the computer if you don't ask for something special".... She went on to say Absolute is first, then Belvedere, and so on, and "well' liquor is at the bottom. So we paid $7 for each drink and by the way, they were really small. She never offered to make an adjustment, or anything for that matter. Sooo, they got us once.

Went with a party of eight. We were seated at a table for six. The food was average, ambiance was warm, the acoustics leave a lot tour desired

butterfly sue 02-04-2014 08:41 PM

Once I started reading the reviews here, I knew my hubby and I would be making a stop. OH MY GOSH!!!!! We arrived and were quickly seated and by 5:30 they were filled up and a waiting line. We ordered one order Fried Green Tomatoes, two Spanish Catfish dinners, two sodas and one slice of the Orange Sunset cake. We do not usually eat all that much, but we were celebrating. CATFISH was the BEST we have tasted in a long, long time. Bill came to $45 without t&t, but SO WORTH it. We will be going back for those special occasions or every once in a while.
