We ordered two from Cracker Barrel a couple of days ago. We are picking them up Thanksgiving morning. I hope they are good. I wanted to order a coconut cake from The Cotillion Southern Cafe for Thanksgiving, but they cost too much for me. I hope my Cracker Barrel pies are good.

I agree with Fresh Market. They had some beautiful pies on display last night, I almost bought one of each. However, if you want good pies,, I make a great pumpkin and apple crumb pie, just invite me to dinner, lol.

Good Pies

If you want real homemade pies, not factory made, it's Athens in SS.

don't forget to check the pies at Sam's club...they are bigger than most of the others....the pumpkin, apple, cherry, berry and pecan pies are excellent.

well, my wife bakes the best pies; and she also has used the cotillion cafe's cookbook for their key lime and pecan pies. the best. and we just had an apple, cranberry, and walnut with crumbs just a few weeks ago, and last thanksgiving she make sweet potato pie....
i wonder what is in store for this year?
but you can order from crackerbarrel....they are just fine.

My beautiful granddaughter worked as a baker's intern at Pie Sisters in Georgetown, DC all last summer, so we are counting on her to provide ours. I've asked her to make me a Root Beer pie, which is basically a pecan pie with a root beer reduction mixed into the Karo and no vanilla extract.

Where is Sam's Club located? Is that a membership place where you buy large quantities of things at a discount? Similar to Cosco?

graciegirl 11-19-2013 08:37 AM

It is and I have a membership. It is near Home Depot and across from Kohls.

Say the word Bare and we will go.

OMG. Drool.

kittygilchrist 11-20-2013 05:56 PM

cfrance is the best pie-maker in TV. I don't know if she'd sell 'em, but I had an apple pie smack down dish at her place that was utterly carmelized till I wanted to lie under the table and have it dribbled into my mouth.
I think this sort of lust caused the decline of the Roman Empire.

And when served hot with vanilla ice cream, it's a root beer float pie.

I take offence with that accusation. I will have you know that I am slitting my wrists with the dull blade of overindulgence.
