Funny, for some reason. I have never seen To Kill A Mockingbird, from beginning to end. Only bits and pieces.

How about "The Birdman of Alcatraz" with Burt Lancaster and Karl Malden.

To Kill a Mockingbird
High Noon (Gary Cooper's best IMHO)

You should see To Kill a Mockingbird in its entitety!

I went to several film appreciation classes under the University of Nevada, Reno film critic Howard Rosenberg (not the LA one, there are two film critics with the same name!) and he presented a number of black and white classics on a fair sized screen at what was the MGM in Reno, Nevada. The movies should be seen on a big screen if at all possible and without distractions. Black and white movies look particularly good in the dark as it brings out the shadowing.

Liked Birdman of Alcatraz.

The Maltese Falcon - Humphrey Bogart & Mary Astor & Peter Lorre
Man Who Shot Liberty Valance - James Stewart & John Wayne & Vera Miles

Cape Fear- Robert Mitchum/Gregory Peck

"M"- Peter Lorre

Love them all, there's not one listed here that I wouldn't watch again.

tpop1 11-20-2013 07:16 PM

1) Casablanca - Bogart
2) The Manchurian Candidate - Sinatra
3) Dr. Strangelove -Sellers
4) It's a Wonderful Life - Jimmy Stewart
5) Ocean's 11 - Rat Pack
6) 12 Angry Men (Twelve Angry Men) Henry Fonda
7) To Kill a Mockingbird - Gregory Peck
8) The Killing - Sterling Hayden
9) Psycho -Leigh & Perkins
10) Inherit the Wind -Spencer Tracy

2BNTV 11-20-2013 07:26 PM

How about:

1. Frankenstein with Colin Clive and Boris Karloff.
2. The Wolfman with Lon Chaney and Claude Rains.
3. Dracula with Bela Lugosi.
4. Hold that Ghost with Abbott and Costello.
5. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein and The Wolfman.

Abbott and Costello had great routines like the unforgetable, "Who On First" in The Naughty Nineties.

For Tal: I also love the shadows seen in these type of films, as it added a lot of drama to certain scenes.

lhasalady 11-20-2013 07:35 PM

How about:

Balls of Fire, Barbara Stanwick
Double Indemnity, Barbara Stanwick, Fred McMurray
Stella Dallas, Barbara Stanwick
Father of the Bride, Spencer Tracey, Myrna Loy (I believe)
Lillies of the Field, Sidney Poitier
Adams Rib, Tracey, Hepburn
