Cannot view webcams for the squares

1 Attachment(s)
For some reason, I can no longer see the webcams at any of the town squares. The window comes up when I select the square, but instead of the webcam live video image, I get a small box with an x inside in the upper left of the window and a message that says Camera Image. I right click on the little box and click on SHOW PICTURE, but nothing changes.
I am running Windows 8 on a notebook with Internet Explorer.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Try this link. All three webcams on one screen.

The Villages

These are the best villages web cam sites - IMHO! They are always shared by 'Virtual Geezer' :ho:

SS Live view - AXIS Q6032-E Network Camera

LSL Live view - AXIS 213 PTZ Network Camera

BW Live view - AXIS Q6035-E Network Camera

Make sure you have the Stream Profile / Video Format to Motion JPEG. Also try clicking on the square with the arrow in it to make the image full screen on your monitor. The ESC key will bring back the normal screen.

If, when clicking on the link for the first time, you get a pop-up telling you it wants to install AXIS whatever - click ok - it's safe to do - and it only happens once for each camera! The full screen display is awesome!

Try clicking on the SS cam and a blue line should appear near the top of the screen. It will ask you to install ActiveX. Just follow the directions and you should be able to se the cam.

Here are other links to the camera that will also work but may ask for ActiveX be installed. No problem with ActiveX as I am running it on Windows 7 & 8 with no problems.

I just get an empty box..no message to down load Axis. How do I know if I have stream profile/video format on?

Royr,

I had the exact same thing happen to me today!! I thought I may have done something to my computer as I performed a disc clean up and defragment today and deleted a bunch of files. At any rate, I am running IE 11. When you get to the screen you showed us in your post, at the top of the screen there is a row with File, Edit, View, etc. Mine has a second row of tools underneath, and in that row, I clicked Tools. The first option is "Fix Connection Issues". I clicked on that, and, Presto! The video cams were back online.

I hope this works for you! Good luck!

I found that option, but it was "grayed out". Clicked on it and no change.

I finally stumbled on a way to make it work. I clicked on Tools - Compatibility View Settings, then the video images appeared. I don't understand why that fixed it.
However, when I tried that for the stockers.ch site, and it still does not work.

That link does not work for me using IE10.

The others all work.

Sorry that the link does not work for some. The link was posted by somebody on a different thread and I bookmarked it because I like the idea of having all three webcams come up on one page. I use an I-Pad which has Safari and it always works for me. Hopefully it works for others, too.

No you will not be able to see all three web cams in the same window page. I have a third party app on my iPhone that allows me to view all three on one screen and 3 more. I can add a number of other web cabs to the program and scroll through them. I think the upgrade in version from the free version was $4.00 or so but it gave you the extra cams.

Have not played with an Apple other than the iPhone so I guess you are on your own.

I sent this link to my daughter, so she could see the Christmas tree lighting and she only get the empty box with a small x in the corner. What can she do.

On my computer, the problem seems to have appeared by upgrading to Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11). The problem didn't occur with IE 10 or earlier.

Your IE may have been upgraded without your knowledge. To find out what version of IE you have, on the IE menu, click on Help > About Internet Explorer.

This worked for me ... If you have IE 11 and you can't see the web cam, try this.
1. Go to www.thevillages.com.
2. While on that page, on the IE menu, click on Tools > Compatibility View Settings.
3. In the Add this website box, you should see thevillages.com
4. Click the Add button and it should appear in the box below, Websites you've added to Compatibility View
5. Click the Close button.

You should be back to thevillages.com, so click on the temperature to display the web cams. Hopefully the camera images will appear for you.

Perform these same steps for any other websites which display The Villages web cams.
