What music inspires you?
 

I have those days when I am just not my usual upbeat self, often with no particular reason, maybe it's the "male menopause". But I find music is a great pick me up. There are cd's that are a must for me on such days.

I find some music/songs really brings me back on dry land.

and yes, it is savage breast that he said, not savage beast!

When I'm in "travel mode" I tend to prefer the XM Pops channel. If I'm listening for myself I tend to go for old Aerosmith, etc. to Volbeat. Pretty large gamut, but if it has a screaming guitar I'm there. I've been to the squares several times and will continue to enjoy going, but mostly for the enjoyment of watching others having a great time. I like most any music being played live. Not a big fan of the vocalist/Ipad thing but like that others do. Hopefully there will be some other AC/DC type fans when it's time to start a 'Hair Band'.

I prefer the classics and especially the sounds emanating from string instruments. It is great music for creative thinking

anything Motown! The Supremes are my very favorite with Diana Ross still my #1 to this day! The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Jackson 5, The Temptations, The Spinners, Martha and the Vadellas, Gladys Knight and the Pips...memorable music!

Yup, I forgot Gilbert and Sullivan as another favorite I like to play. They parodied so mcuh of the politics of their time. I like to listen to "Ruler of the Queen's Navy" from HMS Pinafore as it sums up so much of the pretentiousness of their time and it still holds true today.

First and foremost, Handel's Messiah. Then Simon & Garfunkel and Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix. Mozart's Symphony No. 40 and everything else he wrote. Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven. In that order.

Anytime I hear a song that reminds me of being young brings back fond memories.

Some music reminds me of my mother as she loved Frank Sinatra. Her favorite song was, I Did It My Way.

In the early 70's it was all about rock & roll with my girlfriends. Bob Seger, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, Eagles and many others. I remember all the fun we would have in our young wild days. Not a care in the world and I miss my girlfriends from long ago.

Tom & I were married to I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston. Every time I hear that song I still feel the same love for him, but it's so much stronger now.

My girlfriend Carole, whom is now passed away loved country music and we would go to Garth Brooks concerts. I'm Shameless was her favorite song and we would sing along with Garth totally off key.

I could go on and on about what song reminds me of certain people but I'll stop now so not to bore you any longer.

I love music because there are so many memories attached to it.

All kinds of music but my latest favorite is The Prayer by Celine Dion and Josh Groban.

I love to listen to music and enjoy many genres, but I can't say that any of it inspires me unless dancing is a product of inspiration.

And then we would call that "The Chicken Dance"? :jester:

When traveling we often listen to Elvis on XM. It brings back memories of wife and I dating. We especially like some of his gospel music they play from Graceland on Sunday morning. "Where words fail, music speaks" Hans Christian Anderson

My DH is also a uke player. Will have to see if he knows this song. He loves to play and sing Jimmy Buffett songs and also writes and composes his own. He is quite the uke musician!

I do stop at Rap. Cannot stand listening to it for anything more than one second.

I just listened to a bunch of Avett Brothers music on Youtube, what an interesting group, thanks for introducing them. Here is what I found when I googled them.

Went to Sarah Brightman concert....didn't get that much out of the visual aspect.
I like music that makes me transcend into the heavenlies of worship.
Sarah's "Classics" dvd will do that,
or a Sunday at my church with contemporary stuff I don't even care for much, but Holy Spirit is there undeniably, without us singing "The old rugged cross"---who knew?
