Bomb scare at Spanish springs

Just got home from dockers in Spanish springs. Was watching football when we were evacuated because of bomb scare.
Anyone hear any updates?

Villager Audio Video 12-01-2013 07:36 PM

Really?

livefree 12-01-2013 07:53 PM

All of Spanish Springs?

Was the alleged bomb scare for just the place where you were watching football (Gators Dockside?) or was it for the whole town square?

Phony bomb threat forces evacuation at MVP, Gator’s

December 1, 2013 By Meta Minton

The MVP athletic facility and Gator’s Dockside restaurant in Spanish Springs Town Square were evacuated Sunday afternoon when a bomb threat was called in.

The threat was called in after 2 p.m. Sunday to Gator’s Dockside, Lady Lake Police Chief Chris McKinstry said.

Out of an abundance of caution, the business owners elected to evacuate the premises.

A bomb-sniffing dog from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office was called in and found nothing. The all-clear was given and business continued as normal.

However, the individual who placed the call could be in hot water.

“Any false report of an explosive device is a felony,” Chief McKinstry said.

He said investigators are pursuing the case.

That would definately tick me off if I had to evacuate the place trying to watch a game.

This is sickening. How does one get so crazy and insane, to do something like this to innocent people?

I hope they catch this person.

Did someone's teen grandson get the cart keys taken away?

Bomb Threat

I was there. Stood out by parking lot for almost an hour. Left $$ for our food and drink with a friend who had no intention of leaving. The manager told me that he received a call from a phone booth in Orlando warning him of time bomb in his building. He didn't have much choice except get people out of there until the problem was solved. Don't know if they have enough evidence to solve the crime. They might!

The Bubble has been compromised.

Hmmm, I thought phone booths were extinct.

A rag, eh? If you want tabloid journalism, there are many worthless sheets out there to read. I am confused as to why anyone would want to give this low-performing person front page space. The less recognition, the better in this case.

Well stated - this is what these idiots thrive on - seeing it in papers - their only "claim to fame"!!

That's three pages inside of the third section in the paper. Sounds a ways away from the front page.

Hopefully the perpetrator doesn't get the Sun because the only place they'd find it online is villages news.

Am I to understand that many people only read the headlines of the newspaper? It's in the Daily Sun and now there's crabbing about where it's located. Again, why do some people want to give this low-performing person a bigger platform?

Whether it should have gotten any space at all is up for debate. But sometimes, news outlets report police calls. And it seems from reading here for a bit that's what many folks crave.

Editing a paper only looks easy. Somewhat like golf.

I agree with other posters here people who call in bomb threats thrive on publicity.

We should probably post more messages about that bomb threat and discuss it endlessly. Maybe people will make more threats at the squares.

What do you all think about that?

Section C is local news. Where else would you have liked to seen it?

At least you read it.

Sorry Peachie. I mistakenly called a public phone a phone booth. In fact I am almost extinct. Will never happen again.

According to the Lady Lake Police, the guy called in the bomb threat to get his girlfriend, a waitress, out of work for the day.
