Why does cartingthevillages say this?
"Arteries
The main arteries of The Villages are Morse Blvd., Buena Vista Blvd., El Camino Real, and a portion of Stillwater Trail. These roads all have four lanes and have 35 mph speed limits. Carts are not permitted to travel on or cross these roads. All cart crossings on these arteries are by tunnels." I don't know about the others, but this is not true about Morse. I had renters from England who were very confused by the above statement. They called me and wondered how they were supposed to go anywhere if they weren't allowed to cross Morse to get in the northbound cart lane! It also is not a 4 lane road from 466 to Hacienda, but even where it IS 4 lanes at Hacienda, you can still cross it. |

Please see the last half of my last sentence as to my reason for posting here. |
It is heartwarming to see that after 2 threads, thousands of views and hundreds of responses about addressing the op's subject in a nice non sarcastic way ...... that the sentiment lasted practically no time at all.
|
It is also not true for El Camino Real. Carts legally cross it at the ECR & Enrique / Bortello intersection and also at the ECR / Morse roundabout.

Please, as Bogie said, send your concern to that wonderful mastermind Mike, and great guy in person, who took the time to do this mapping for all of us.
He is memason. (I think maybe BC has me on ignore too) |
Since I am on ignore for Betty.........................
I just don't understand why some folks post on TOTV with that little hint of "what the hell is wrong with this" attitude. It seems to me that in most cases the folks that can fix a problem, will fix the problem given the chance. |

Yup. That is true, Bogie. By the way Bogie, I see you as wearing a white cowboy hat on this forum. You are one of the good guys. |

I believe the speed limit on Morse, North of 466, is 30MPH.

Where I grew up, they used to say, "For Free take, for buy, complain." Mike did this mapping out of the kindness of his heart. If it isn't quite perfect yet, the price is right. |

You are right. GTBGC -Home I didn't know he had them in paper form. Can't do that for nothing. |

When I was doing the Google edition, I had lots of folks sending me information on paths that I didn't know existed, so it was a collaborative effort from other TOTVer's. For what it's worth, when I look at the carthevillages maps, they do, in fact, show the tunnels under Morse and Buena Vista Blvd's. Maybe someone needs to learn to read a map, before complaining. Over and out.... |

Will try the google trick also. As I said in my other thread we have a very bad sense of direction but I love maps. |

Use your common sense, for goodness sakes. It should be perfectly obvious to any one who cares to look, that Morse Road north of 466 is not a four lane divided road with a speed limit of 35 mph. But Morse south of 466 is exactly that.
So the statement that carts are not permitted to cross it obviously applies to Morse "South" and not to Morse "North". |
What a great resource! I've been here almost two years and I'm just now learning about Carting The Villages. Carting The Villages -Home I wish I had known about it from the first.
On my first visit, which was a one week stay in the Bacall Rec Center area, I mainly just carted back and forth on Canal Street to LSL and didn't need a map. On the second, month long visit, in the Village of Piedmont area, I bought the Official Villages map ($5) and really began to learn my way around. After moving in I bought a couple more of the Official maps (for 2nd car and for golf cart) and really learned how to get anywhere in The Villages by either mode of transportation, but I wish I had known about Carting The Villages back then. It would have been a real help. Kudos to the creator of the Carting The Villages web site. I've bookmarked it and will recommend it to my friends in the future. :gc: |
Since Morse Blvd is 30 mph, carts are able to cross it and ride on it in their separate lane. Someone made a boo-boo.

Wow, I've never seen that map before... What a fantastic job. I agree with Carl in Tampa,,, what a great resource. I'm going straight away and buy a hard copy... Thanks for those that collaborated in the development of this map. Great Job...!!!
Ohhh, wait a minute, I don't have a cart... oh well, its still a great resource. :undecided: :a040: |
How great would it be to have an app,, to show the events of the day at that time, and be able to click on it and have it take you there via the gps on your phone,, the villages could put the open houses it for the day and click on it to take you to the home that is being shown. all via a cart paths or via roads,, sell advertising on the app, with the advertisers having specials of the day... I am not very savvy on how to do this, but there is money to be made,, those on a Lifestyle visit could have the GPS in there cart with all the places that we all got lost finding when were new here. I would pay nice price for this.. but it could be subsidized by ads. just a thought on my part NOT a complaint of what has been provided for free!!
