Which night is their two-for-one Fajita night?

2BNTV 12-14-2013 08:30 PM

Every Wednesday. I suggest you get ther a little before 5 PM as it fills up quickly. Drinks are two for one also, so if you order a glass of wine, they will bring you two.

Faijitas came in chicken, beef or shrimp. :mmmm:

Had a lousy meal at Cody's a couple of weeks ago. Steak was tough and the lobster tail was dry and crusty. No peanuts so we got up and got a bucket of them. Specials are no longer till 4pm but done at 1 pm ( or so our waitress told us) and we arrived at around 3:15. Menus were dirty with traces of someone else's food on each one. My wine glass had lipstick on it. Salads were give us but the salad bowl was taken away, never to be seen again. Main course arrived about 30 seconds after we got our salads. Food was jammed onto the table. Probably should have called over a manager. Maybe a manager should have checked with us and asked "how everything was"? Waitress seemed fairly new so someone should have been keeping an eye on her. Our bill was incorrect and we had to have it corrected. No deserts come with the meal anymore.
I've tried to contact Cody's via "feedback" on their website but it does not work. Tried "contact us" on their site and that doesn't work either. Finally called the main office and they suggested I write them a letter. So I wrote a letter, as I would hope they would want feedback on their restaurant.
Couple of weeks have gone by and no call or any kind of contact. I am getting the impression that Cody's' really doesn't care if you have a lousy experience in their place or not and I will no longer suggest them as a place to eat.
So, my only resort is to tell people of my experience.

So weird. We have been going their for years and never once had your problems

Love Cody's. Never a problem with food or service in 4 years

May 15 will be 4 years and we love it there. In 4 years, the only restaurant that has been real bad for us has been havana. We still go there often because it is by our house and now they are getting better. What we don't do is go for discounted specials nor discount times of day. I don't buy what the restaurant is trying to get rid of nor when the kitchen is extra busy.

leftyf 12-17-2013 07:19 AM

We have been eating at Cody's for several years too and never had a bad meal, except when we stopped at the Ocala Cody's. It was terrible. You wouldn't even know it was the same restaurant. The prime rib was the worst I have ever had and yes, the server filled our salad plate and took the bowl. We don't plan to return to that one.

I have been to Codys countless times. Usually it is excellent but there are a few very minor glitches at times.

The server always writes their name AND the managers name on the paper table cover so IF there is a problem, you can call him over to resolve it on the spot.

Does not sound as if the OP handled the situation in a manner to help resolve the situation.

Complaining on TOTV about a Villages favorite is NOT going to deter anyone from going there.

gatherer47 12-18-2013 07:00 PM

Cody's is one place that I know will try to fix any problem you had while dining. The manager consistently will respond to his customers in a positive manner. It happened to us once and the manager's response was enough to keep me coming back.If you ever have a problem do what Bogie Shooter always tells us "see the manager" In Cody's case it works.Bonny will back me up on this also.

Celebrator 12-18-2013 07:09 PM

Always a good experience except don't order the fish, which you shouldn't do at a BBQ place anyway.

2catsmeow 12-18-2013 07:33 PM

I beg to differ - I LOVE the salmon at Cody's and order it almost every time we go - with the herb crust - YUM - and they cook it just right, not overcooked - my favorite!

justjim 12-18-2013 07:41 PM

The "restaurant threads" tend to reveal what I already know----you can have a relative bad meal and Experence at any restaurant in TV or another anyplace USA. My general rule is three strikes and your out!

Cody's has no strikes and all has been good for the three or four visits.

DonH57 12-18-2013 10:08 PM

We were at Cody's last night and had an excellent meal. So far we have not had any problems.

bluedog103 12-18-2013 10:46 PM

We had a problem at Cody's a couple of years ago when we were there with guests. We guessed we were there on a bad day. No big deal, we just never went back. We have so many choices here it's not something to get worked up about.

Villageshooter 12-18-2013 11:45 PM

What action? Isn't all their food, "dead"? :jester:

I like the joke, "when a man was asked how he wanted his steak cooked".

He replied, "after you throw the steak on, when you hear a mooooo, Take it off". :jester:

We were at Cody's last night, table of seven. They seated us on the patio which has a great view and is a good place to listen to the entertainment. The tables are sheltered from the breeze by glass, and they turn on heaters if it gets chilly. Drinks are two-for-one until 7 PM, accompanied by lots of peanuts. Good entertainment, no problems, attentive waiter. A great time was had by all.

A few years ago we needed to be out by 8:00pm, arrived at 6:30 pm. at 7:15 the food was not out. Told the server about the deadline. At 7:40 pm the food was not out. Asked for takeout. At exactly 8:00 the manager came out with the takeouts and said he heard we had an issue with the timing. Told him the story and he said, "tell you what I'm going to do...." at this point I'm thinking he will comp the meals which would have been about the only thing that would have eased my tension, he said, "... come back in again some time and we'll see if we can get you out quicker". Haha, I almost fell off the chair. Needless to say, I don't go to Codys unless I'm with a group and they have picked the restaurant. Maybe twice in the last 2 years.

What time did you arrive, Bare? Looking for a place our kids would like.

You expected your entire meals to be comped? I can see a little something being offered, not the entire meals. I would have probably said next time I come back you can buy me a drink or a dessert.

Baileysmom 12-20-2013 02:11 PM

We were just there this week and had another great meal.

We arrived after golfing, about 5:45 PM, and had a ten minute wait for a table. We usually wait longer at Cody's to be seated. I think a lot of people have already gone north for Christmas. The food is OK ... I think the food at Bonefish is better. But who can beat a view of Lake Sumter! The ambiance at Cody's is casual with peanut shells on the floors, a bit noisy. I think your kids would enjoy Cody's.

We found it very, very pleasant sitting on the deck, listening to the music, looking at Lake Sumter, eating peanuts, drinking wine, having a leisurely dinner, and talking to good friends.

Thanks. We're already going to Bone Fish on Christmas Eve. Maybe we'll try Cody's on the 27th. I was also considering World of Beers as our son likes unusual draft beers. Hmm...

I didn't expect the meals to be comped, but when he started out with what he said I figured he was going to try and make me happy. He failed miserably.

Cody's $6.08 for house wine. Not going back

carol_piirto 12-20-2013 04:58 PM

Cody's-good food

I am very particular about food and they have good food, great vegetables and reasonable prices. In fact, I just bought a $100 gift card and with the Christmas deal and was given a companion $20 gift card. Super!
Merry Christmas

From 11am until 7pm, that is for two glasses of wine filled to the brim of the glass. Pretty good deal anywhere.

I like Cody's very much and will go back often.

That being said I was in there tonight about 8:15 the bar inside was full. I was by myself and wanted to watch the NBA game on TV and have a steak. I asked if I could sit at a table in front of the TV that had the game on that I wanted to see. There were 6 empty tables in the bar area again the bars itself was full and I asked if I could sit at the table and have a steak. I was told there was one seat at the outside bar and I said I wasn't interested in sitting in the smoking area. They called a lady over who must of been in charge and she again said that a single could not be seated at a table in the bar. I said there are 6 empty tables and I would not have even asked if they only had a couple of tables open. I left and went elsewhere and ate. I sure would have rather had a steak at Cody's and will get one there perhaps tomorrow night.

I do think that common since should be used in running a business. With drinks and tip I would have spent just over $30.00. We both lost out I did not get the steak I wanted and they lost some money. The sad thing is a waitress lost a nice tip. The waitress wanted me to sit down but said she could not buck management.

Common sense is different in all people, so it sounds like they did use common sense by not allowing a :icon_hungry:$40.00 tab to block out a $300.00 tab.

nitehawk 12-21-2013 08:42 AM

If you told them you wanted to watch the nba I could understand

It sounds more like a table with a customer versus an empty table. Not smart ... Restaurant policies should be flexible depending on the situation.

The smart one here is Indy-Guy who didn't get all bent out of shape, and who will return again to Cody's.

Good point. I will ask James about his reasoning. The is probably a long study been done to find the most profitable method.

Or, more probable, they just took a guess.

How would you possibly set up a "study" to determine the outcome of this situation?

I guess GN could ask "James" if those 6 tables were used by couples or better that night. If not, they lost a $40 revenue plus the waitress's tip.
