llaran 12-15-2013 07:48 PM

Ok, I've just had about enough of you folks!!!! Free golf now, Argh!!! I'm still aways away from retirement, I don't need this too :D

zcaveman 12-15-2013 08:23 PM

Free golf

:agree:

nkrifats 12-15-2013 08:35 PM

It is free golf on the championship courses on Christmas Day. Not on New Years that I know of, just Christmas Day. There are no tee time reservations. Show up and get in line.

Happinow 12-15-2013 08:39 PM

Busy, busy, busy...

So I gather it's busy on the championship courses on Christmas Day?? Maybe we should stick to the executive courses.

Duh~
When hundreds of villagers line up for a free coffee mug promotion..........what do you think happens on Christmas Day on the Champonship courses?

Indy-Guy 12-15-2013 09:52 PM

Long lines! SLOW PLAY!!!!!!!!! If you go don't complain.

ROCKETMAN 12-15-2013 10:10 PM

To avoid long lines and slow play, defenitely do the executives. When i did the championship the line at 630 am was 6 forsomes. By 9 it was 15 foresomes. Very slow also, 5.5 hr round.

On Executive courses, are the Starter Shacks open on Christmas Day? Or do golfers just walk on and play?

2BNTV 12-16-2013 12:04 AM

Sounds like shopping on Xmas eve. I assume, there is no one to man, the golf courses.

Merry Xmas and happy golfing.

drcar 12-16-2013 07:03 AM

No starters shacks are open, no cart rentals, no club rentals. Employees will be on the Champ. Courses just to keep order. No employees on the execs.

mulligan 12-16-2013 07:29 AM

And they're going to pull out all the pins and fill the holes to cut down on putting time.

aln 12-16-2013 08:31 AM

There's a little blurb about the free Christmas golf in today's Daily Sun (12/16) on B2 of sports.

It'll tell you about which championship courses can be used for 9 hole and which for 18 hole play.

It's not all that bad. I've played every year since 2006 except for once when it rained ALL day.

You just gotta get lucky and show up when the lines are short. Slow play? that's a given.

FedEx 12-16-2013 09:37 PM

Better check with the championship course (especially the 27 hole courses) to see which Nine is the 18-hole starting point and which is the 9-hole starting point. Also, bring lots of patience. Ho Ho Ho!!!!

Yes it's true. Don't let the complainers dampen your holiday. It's makes for a fun filled day just like any event in The Villages.

ronsroni 01-10-2014 12:24 AM

HOLY TEE SHOT!!! ONLY 5.5 hours? That was the norm on Long Island for 18. If you were lucky, that is. SO HAPPY TO BE HERE IN THE VILLAGES!!!!!!

RErmer 01-23-2014 09:31 AM

Village old-timers told me the day to play Exec courses is the free day at the Championship course. Lots of people on the Championship courses who don't usually play them = slow play

DaleMN 01-23-2014 10:15 AM

Better late than never.
