Be Grateful Your In The Villages

That should read be grateful your WARM in theVillages! I'm envious of all you fortunate people in the Villages. It's freezing here in Saratoga, NY in sub zero temps and it has been snowing for 24 hours nonstop. The NYS Thruway is closed the entire way between Albany and NYC. Even the dog doesn't want to go out.

My New Years resolution is to be in the Villages before next winter!

tippyclubb 01-02-2014 11:28 PM

Same scenario in Detroit except our roads aren't closed. I am sick of it already and have 3-4 months to endure. Yikes.

Sounds like a great resolution. Yep, 2014 will be a great year for retiring and moving to our home in Collier.

buggyone 01-02-2014 11:28 PM

Move as soon as possible. Home prices are climbing for both new and resale.

Snow removal is included in your amenity fee here!

We're in Clifton Park for the holidays. Heading to TV on Tuesday. I hope the cold weather doesn't follow us down!

I said this in Feb. after the winter we had in CT and I was here by August! (I don't make "New Years" resolutions because I never keep them but I was determined to keep this!) LOL
I'm watching GMA right now and SO glad I am not up there.

Well, obviously we're a lot better off than you weather wise, but it's currently 39* here with a high of 48* forecast or today. Not exactly what we call "warm".

Take care of yourself up there and be careful.

Rollie 01-03-2014 07:35 AM

Really thankful to be here this year. Prayers are with friends and family up north. 22 below zero back home in Wisconsin Sunday and Monday nights. The Frozen Tundra is going to live up to it's name come game time Sunday.

GO PACK

Rollie

I was supposed to fly out of Hartford today! Changed and flew out New Years Day. 48 and clear beats 1 windy and snowy.

I lived in Saratoga, NY for about five years. Coldest five years of my life! I will never forget a neighbor knocking on my door asking if I had seen her dog because the dogs were walking over the top of the fences because the snow was so high! Nor will I forget my car sliding out of the driveway because the ice built up over night... woke up to my car out in the middle of the street! Hurry down to The Villages. It may be a little cold here today, but I don't think I will find my car out in the middle of the street! Good luck... stay warm!

Sounds like a heat wave to me, lol. When we visited last February it dipped down to the high 30's at night but climbed into the 70's during the day. We thought it was glorious! We were wearing shorts but we saw people bundled up and wearing gloves in the afternoon.

You take care shoveling that sunshine!

2newyorkers 01-03-2014 08:36 AM

It is 13 degrees and still snowing in Suffolk County Long Island. 8 more days and we will be back in TV. So looking forward to being back under the dome.

kwtoman 01-03-2014 08:44 AM

12 degrees in Cleveland and we shoveled a foot of snow out of the driveway.

GPGuar 01-03-2014 08:50 AM

11 degrees in Ronkonkoma N.Y. and very strong winds blowing! With about 10 inches of snow.

If snow removal is included in our amenity fees, we're getting ripped off. I haven't seen a single snow plow go buy our home since we moved here!

BTW, the only thing I've had to shovel since moving here is sunshine! I could have said it was something else, but I'm trying to be nice!

Lol....I read your post and immediately checked my driveway! Phew, my car is still there. I can't get to the villages fast enough!

Do they even sell snow shovels in Florida??? Where do you find the sunshine shovel? It's probably one of those "as seen on TV" products! Or should I say "as seen on TOTV"?

2BNTV 01-03-2014 09:48 AM

I can honestly say, that I am grateful to be in TV. I'll take 40 degrees over the snow and bone chilling temperatures, anyday. I use to make fun of TV people, who said it was cold here, as I looked out my window, at blizzard conditions in CT, but you get so use to it being warm, when the temps drops you feel cold.

I don't miss the snow one bit.

I have to be nice to my friends back home, by not calling them, and crowing over the fact, we don't have to shovel sunshine.

Live is great when you are in TV. I love it here!!!

DonH57 01-03-2014 10:48 AM

I don't miss the weather up in Massachusetts at all. No snow throwing, sand and salt, no slipping or falling, no cleaning off vehicles. Best of all I don't have to work in it anymore either!

rubicon 01-03-2014 10:56 AM

Just remember what you lose in January you gain in June

ajbrown 01-03-2014 11:05 AM

Picked a good week....

Picked a good week to head south from The Villages. We arrived at PGA National Resort and Spa New Years Day and it has been beautiful....

It is all relative of course, but it is even a bit chilly here, topping out at 65 degrees today....:throwtomatoes:

PS. I must say I really missed The Villages on the first day when I was poured a $7 draft beer! I asked if I got to keep the glass...

Whoa!!!! $7 for a beer sounds expensive!!!

Where were you? The "House of Beers"?

BTW - I would have thought it came with the glass too.

njbchbum 01-03-2014 02:24 PM

Am so grateful for the friend who came this afternoon with his snow plow and cleared much of our driveway of the 10" of snow. Grateful, too, that it did not take me an unnecessary amount of shoveling to clear the garage doors of the snow drift so that hubs could get the snow blower out to do the finishing touches on the driveway and the sidewalk. And grateful that we were able to clear the cars of snow and out of the drifts just so that we can feel like we can get out if we have to go somewhere [but have absolutely no plans to do so!]. And grateful that the sun is out, the house is warm and we can sit inside and enjoy watching whatever goes on outside our house!

BUT most of all...am glad that a week from today we should be in N.C. with family and on our way to our snowbird nest in the Village of Silver Lake! C'yall soon!

We are also from the Saratoga area and we were groaning about how cold it was here today. Then.......I remembered that my hometown just got 10" of snow yesterday and they woke up to temps of -6. So, I feel blessed to live here. I didn't even have to shovel when I got up. Life is good.
