Favorite Mel Gibson movie?

Mel Gibson - Wikipedia

Really liked some of the Lethal Weapon movies as well as Braveheart, Hacksaw Ridge and the Mad Max ones.

He was very good in Gallipoli - Rotten Tomatoes.

very silly & am almost embarrased to admit, 'MacheteKills' . a small but memorable roll & looks like he had fun with it.

That was a fun one. I did a lot of damage to my lantana camera with my new machete but the damn invasive plant is still alive. Just a little aside. Lantana camara is one of the TOP 100 most invasive species in the world. Lantana camara - Wikipedia

Me too. He used to come up on my Facebook page a lot but not so much now. Seems like a very nice person as well.

Braveheart

PugMom 01-03-2024 10:13 AM

a classic for sure

We Were Soldiers. The depiction of the battle was very close to the actual event, not too Hollywoodized.

His The Passion of the Christ was very hard to watch but am looking forward to his The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection - Rotten Tomatoes.

But will have to see how they can make the actor playing Christ look three days older when he in real life has aged about 20 years.

Jim Caviezel - Rotten Tomatoes

We were soldiers. Easy choice

1. Braveheart. I recall reading that Gibson brings a myth, not historical fact, to life in this movie. And that is certainly true. Any resemblance to historical fact seems almost coincidental. But the pageantry is out of this world!

2. The Patriot. Same reasons as above. His character was allegedly loosely based on the real Swamp Fox Francis Marion. I’d say VERY loosely.

3. We Were Soldiers. Critics actually praised this movie for it’s historical accuracy, which for a Gibson movie is unheard-of. Some of the scenes at home and on the base were a bit saccharine.

“The Year of Living Dangerously” — 1982. Also starred Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hunt who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in her role.

An Australian film based on a fictitious love affair set in Indonesia in 1965 during the overthrow of President Sukarno. The riveting story follows a group of foreign journalists in Jakarta on the eve of an attempted coup to oust Sukarno.
