Golf carts at Costco!

I see that Costco (in Clermont) is hosting a traveling road show for Icon EV golf carts from Dec 1 to Dec 17th. Anyone been down there to see them or see what they are offering for how much?

I took a brief look at them. Price points were OK versus a “custom” Villages gas unit. The Icons on display were all electric and had lead acid batteries. The most equipped unit on display was about $13k if I recall correctly - 2 plus rear facing 2. I noticed no rain gear on the display carts for what it’s worth and seats, while varied colors were mostly of a standard variety. I might be interested in an electric cart in the future but I personally wouldn’t choose a non-lithium.

That's good information. Disappointing though. Thought they'd be a better product and/or a better price.

Who provides warranty service and then service after warranty?

Spartan86 12-12-2023 11:59 AM

Please DYODD. I just looked at them for about 5 minutes. The main thing I noted was non-lithium which I’d not choose. Costco doesn’t seem to market much Junk so they may be decent vehicles overall. But, I still like my “made to order” Yamaha more. They reminded me of some of the Evolution carts my neighbors have.

Yes, great idea, DYODD. Do Your Own Due Diligence.

That usually starts off with research, and quite a bit of it.

Let's see....where can I find a focus group that:

A) Doesn't cost time/money to organize;
B) Has a lot of first hand consumer experience with golf carts;
C) Is well educated and articulate;
D) Is a relevant local population sample, and;
E) Will respond in a timely manner (not the weeks of questionnaire returns)?

Oh yeah- Maybe putting a post up on a web forum of The Villages residents. Great idea, Spartan86, thanks!

P.S.- MSU blows.

I shopped several providers, and custom Sunbrella enclosures are running around $1,000 for standard 2 seater cart, and $1,150 for a 4 seat forward facing cart (extented).

Yes, but will they provide warranty work and ongoing service on a vehicle they didn't sell you? That seems to be the norm at golf cart dealers here in The Villages.

waterflower 12-14-2023 08:16 AM

Will the EV manufacturer give a warranty if the cart's batteries explode. Many are having issues.

Justputt 12-14-2023 09:18 AM

Some of these carts for big box stores don't have turf tires, so they wouldn't be allowed on a golf course. Personally, I have the Star Sirius 2+2 with 210 Ah battery and very happy with it. BUT, $$$

Sorry, saw the letters EV, I’m not an EV fan. People can bad mouth me all they want. I heard all the bad things about EV’s way before 99% of us ever heard about this great battery operated new cart or car 38 yrs.ago in my yrs. Working for an auto company, & EV’s are way to early for us, to many issue’s!
