Sybase Match Play Championship Preview & Pairings
 

After a two week break, the LPGA tour resumes this week with the playing of the Sybase Match Play Championship. This is the only tournament of the year that is not decided by stroke play. This is a single elimination tournament, lose once and you are out. The only change this year is that the players are not picking from a hat to determine their opponents. The players will be seeded according to their Rolex Ranking at the start of the event. Here are some of the major details:

That was quite interesting, especially with the slow pay penalty and the lenghty discussion as to whether or not the other golfer touched her line with her putter during her preshot routine.
I think slow play has got to be addressed, but in this instance the pair were put on the clock mainly due to slow play of the other gal,not the one who got penalized. Hopefully this will open up further discussion about how to correct this.

BUT sure wished Morgan Pressel was the victor!....Played in many match play events in NC and it is interesting how much more visible the emotion is with the ladies...The men are probably grinding also....
