Been hearing from my 'northern' friends that Dowton Abbey starts tomorrow night. Does anyone know what Comcast channel it is on here in The Villages? We can't seem to find it??:shrug:

I have to ask..
I've read great things about this series, so I decided to start from the beginning on amazon streaming. I watched about half an hour of the first episode. I was intrigued somewhat, but they talk so fast with a British accent, I felt like I was missing a lot. I had to pause and rewind several times and still couldn't get what they were saying. Maybe it's because I'm a born and raised southerner, but I struggled with this and gave up. Did anyone else have this problem? Was it worth it to keep watching? I can't decide whether I'll get used to it and suddenly understand them, or just feel like I'm missing 25% of the dialog and keep watching anyway. |
Great, thanks for the info. Wasn't looking for Masterpiece Classic...that is why we were missing it.
As far as whether to keep watching, hubby and I LOVE it and most everyone we know does too!! |

Closed Caption also helps while watching British programs.

Downton
I tried to watch the new Christmas special. Got bored after about 35 minutes. Gave up and turned tv off!

Just something to think about. I love Downton Abby but also had difficulty catching every word. The TV speakers are not the best for hearing enunciation and background music makes it even harder. I purchased an inexpensive set of headphones and wireless transmitter that is hooked to the TV and it made a world of difference. Anytime I am straining to hear conversation I use the headphones.
