Mail scam?
Today (Sat) I received a hand written envelope addressed to me and inside was a yellow pad single page handwritten letter stating .... I would like to buy your house. It lists my address and name etc.
It was mailed from TN. Has anyone else gotten this? They give a 352 area code to call. I don't want to call it if it's some scam. Thanks in advance. You can PM me if you like Neal2tire |

I would suspect this is a mass produced note to solicit houses to purchase . Some people make a living doing it. During economic downturns these were running rampant as the buyers were getting houses from desperate people that had to sell for various reasons.
I would use the local market to sell your house when ready. |
If someone in your family dies you get these usually more business looking by the tons. When my mom died we got 50 of them and she didn't even own the house nor was she on the deed.

Do a reverse look-up of the telephone number. It may tell you who it is.

Why bother with doing anything with it other then tossing it in the trash?
I don't even open most of that stuff. Occasionally one gets by me when they make it look like it was hand written, but most of it goes into the post office trash bin unopened. |
I got it and I tossed it.

A lot of mass mailers have started using envelopes that look like the address is handwritten, with no return address on the envelope. They're designed to "fool" us into opening them. I just toss them in recycling.
