I am starting to play off site once a week for variety. Have played Eagle Ridge, Spruce Creek, Continental, Lake Miona, Black Bear, Juliet Falls, DelWebb of Ocala

Looking for some ideas on NICE tracts within the Villages/Ocala vicinity.

You would liove deer island in tavares. Tough course with lots of wildlife including 3 huge alligators on the back nine par 3. This time of year there are around 50 korean male and female golfers who spend 2 months there working to get on the korean tour. If you are here in summer, great deal usually 35 bucks with lunch.

We often play Baseline, Lake Diamond, The Lakes and Water Oak. They are pretty reasonable. The last time we played the Lakes, it cost us $20 a piece and that included the cart!! You can't make a tee time at Baseline because it's first come first serve, but we have been lucky because we can get on right away. The course is very lovely and challenging.

Baseline is beautiful, too bad you can't make a tee time. I would pass on the other three. Try Stonecrest (same outfit that runs Eagle Ridge), Harbor Hills, Silver Springs Shores, The Plantation in Leesburg, Monarch, Stone Creek in Ocala.

Red Tail is a good track.

Played Candler Hills in Ocala and enjoyed it.

Bella Colina is a Faldo design. Very good course.

Ocala National, Arlington Ridge, Harbor Hills, and Sanctuary Ridge are all good courses in the area.

Thanks for this thread!

I'm in a little sticker shock having played Mallory for $37 in December an again for $49!! in January! That's a 30%+ increase I hope will hold for a few years.

I've just check out- but have not played- Lake Miona and Water Oaks and this list will help immensely.

Lake Miona and Water Oaks are relatively inexpensive and you can get deals, but as with most things you get what you pay for. Water Oaks is the better track, but a bit quirky and not in great shape (the last time I played it a year ago).
Lake Miona is downright dangerous with a lot of holes where you can easily be hit into from the adjoining hole. It is also typically not well kept, looks NOTHING like a Villages course.

My favorite off campus tracks are Spruce Creek South, Continental CC, and Plantation, with Spruce Creek my particular favorite for decent conditions and good value. None of the ones I have played are aesthetically near to equal to most of the Villages Country Club courses.

I am looking for a men's group that plays outside the villages. Do you have any contact info?

Palisades

Played Palisades in Clermont on Jan 18. Good shape and got it on Golf Now for $25 each. A bit challenging, but great views.
