Just courious about January
This is our first January in the Villages. Compared to December's weather that was absolutely awesome, is this normal January weather we have been experiencing for Florida and this area? Meaning rain, low's in the 30's, average high so far seems to be low 60's.

beats shoveling snow

This is NOT the norm. Although we moved up from SW Florida and expected to be a little chillier than down there, this is STILL not the norm for here, and it is unusually colder this year where we came from also. I think this is just a ca-ca winter so far all around. My relatives up north are SOOOO over the snow and cold this year. Don't know where you came from but sorry your weather has been so disappointing so far. :(

Unlike the summers, where you can predict them with 95% accuracy a year in advance, the winters around here are quite variable. Our first two winters down here were extremely cold - one of which was the coldest on record. Since then we've had some very mild winters ... last year's January was mostly 70s and a few 80s as I recall, but this too was unusual. This January appears to be a bit colder than average - but far better than our first two. The good thing about winters down here is that typically these cold snaps last only a few days, followed by a beautiful warm spell.
If your idea of January in TV is to be out by the pool every day, then you probably will be disappointed. But, if you are looking for golfing, biking, walking weather, the typical January day down here is just fine. Note, while you may feel as if most days have had highs in the low 60s or lower, in actuality, 14 out of the first 21 days have had highs of 65 or above, with several days in the high 70s and 80s: http://www.wunderground.com/weathers...raphspan=month |
This is our 4th winter here in The Villages. Beats the cold and snowy CT winters.
My wife and I say that we have to get thru January and then the nice weather is on its way. Have to agree, that this month seems colder than ever. |
this is normal for central florida. a little more overcast than usual, and more rain than normal, but cool is what it is. if i could have i would have chosen puerto rico.

We had snow flurries in Orlando in 2005. Nothing stuck.
This is cold but wait until August! |
